She's one of the best dogs ever.. like Ashley, she was afraid when first at the shelter, and when she came home with me. Her shelter worked with her a lot. We are adopting a Coon Hound Mix from our local animal shelter here in North Carolina. He looks like a black and tan coon hound with some brindle patches on his feet. He was found with his father roaming around, hungry and full of worms. He is about 4-5 months old. We can bring him home this wednesday and we are excited.
My daughter passed a dog standing by the side of a major highway next to the body of a same looking dog. For 2 weeks she passed the dog, watching over her dead companion. Finally my daughter picked up the emaciated, flea infested coonhound. It has been 7 yrs since that day. She adopted a second coondog 2 yrs ago. They are the sweetest, most loyal and loving dogs and love all people and dogs. A wonderful breed except for the baying at squirrels.
I had a beautiful Walker Coonhound from Hurricane Katrina. Your video brought tears to my eyes. Coonhounds are special dogs. My girl, Bella also died of cancer at 12...healthy one day and gone the next. I am not sure if I will ever get over her death. Love your Ashley...truly a beauty!!!!

He has never been on a leash before and doesn't know how to walk on one yet. He is 21 lbs, I'm guessing he must be about 4 months old. His 2 brothers are in foster care.

i came to find this cause my fiances dog just had to be put down, he had bone cancer, diabetes, lopus and many other problems....he was a coonhound mix and the picture looked like him....i had to he him one last time....i love you luke!
I have a 3 year and 2 month old black and tan coonhound (puppy) named Dan i rescued him when he was 6 months old and he has helped me through the worst of times. He is like my son in the scene of he follows me every where and when i get angry at him he talks (HOWLS) back at. me i hope you enjoy ashley for a very long time.
My coonhound "Spinnx" passed away a few months ago. She was almost 14 years old and got cancer. 1 day she was active, happy and healthy and the next day the vet says she has transitional cell cancer in the bladder and urethra and she's dead.
This video brought me to tears because it reminded me of her.
@crutmauler Awww. Is it normal for Coonhounds to get cancer? And 14 years is a brilliant age for a dog, I hope Ashley reaches that age I would be very proud and happy for him.
@danitheskatergirl Could you please describe your experience with a coonhound....I plan on adopting one from a local shelter...For example, house dog or outside dog? Are they likely to run away if I take it off a leash? Are they laid back or excited dogs? ...etc...thanks

@BelgianMalinoisfreak Ashley has hair drop off all the time when we stroke him but he doesnt shed very much. We brush him roughly once a week and use a special brush which gets all the old hair out.
i think thats gonna be the kinda dog i get hopefully i want one cuz my old dog died 6 years ago and its left and empty space in me i hope a new dog can fill in the empty space in my life but it can never replace my beloved dachsund Doc Doc thumbs up if some similar to this happened to you and you know how i feel.Unfourtanetly im too young to get a job and i have to hope ill get one

I have a black and tan, we got at 5 months, she is now 7 months, and loves to play........all...............day. So, much energy. Loves socks, clothes, stuffed animals, counter surfing, and eating whatever she can get. She can walk for miles, and miles. She loves comfort; the sofa, blankets, anything soft and fluffy, kisses, and being kissed. Her name is Hannah, and she's from Indiana.
Love Ashley''s story! He looks like he's now just as spoiled as my 11 year-old Mullet--who, loves sleeping under the covers and can't live without inside climate control. Happy Holidays to you and Ashley!
Thanks for sharing your story about Ashley. You and Ashley are both fortunate to have one another. Black and Tans are great dogs and are my favorite. They have an interesting history in America. Early pioneers and Native Americans highly valued these dogs for hunting and companionship. My second one is now 3 years of age. She's really a character and loves some of the same things as Ashley. She especially likes to "tree" squirrels. She looks a lot like Ashley. They are wonderful companions.
Real nice looking coonhound.... I have a redbone coonhound... they are awesome dogs.. their sense of smell is amazing almost annoying at times... but I would like to get another one cuz' they are sweet as can be !!!!!!
He's a good boy! My friend has a B&T hound named Claude that I bring big dog bones to when I visit. He tears that bone down in less than 5 minutes! And what a slobberpuss! Thank you for the vid.
Claude would also, or so we thought. I bought his Christmas present from Petco; whatever is in those particular bones seems to float his boat. Cheers.
