There's a lesson here...lead time from the initial warning issued by NWS until the tornado hit was 24 minutes...do not dick off when a warning is issued. These people are lucky to be alive, waiting until the last second to take cover. Yes, I know not every warning leads to an actual tornado, but is your life worth a guessing game?

When I was in elementary school, late sixties and early seventies, we would have tornado drills, go out into the hall and get in turtle position. Tuck our head as close to our rear end as possible. It's great you are somewhat underground but there's a lot of high wind at your head level. Suggest you do the same.
