In your wife these three things must be true: you must be physically attracted to her, she has to be your best friend and she has to encourage you spiritually. This commercial isn't selling tits or vagina, it's selling a better physique...primarily legs and butt...in case it wasn't obvious by the voice over actually telling you this.
No, a male would not likely be offended if a commercial reduced him to merely a penis and a butt. Unlike women, men are usually not objectified. The objectification of the male body does nothing to perpetuate an already existing negative view of males. Women have to do a lot more than men to show that they have intelligence or a personality. Commercials and products like this only make it harder for women to be seen as anything more than a sexual fantasy.
The shoe promotes a better physique. Primarily the butt, but also mentiones legs. Instead of just saying the words, "better legs and butt", they use a little skit.
This being the breasts becoming jealous of how nice the wearer's lower half is becoming.
Obviously with a commercial that promotes something such as this, it would be ideal for the advertisers to show a nicely toned female body. They're selling to women, and It's nice to look at.

I don't assume all men are pigs. I'm saying that Reebok's ad agency is run by monkeys who have no idea what they're doing. If Reebok truly wanted to make this about weight loss and getting a better physique, they could have shown an entire woman (Oh noes! But then the focus wouldn't be on her sweater puppies! ) and talked about the health benefits of losing weight.
In another commercial, also about this shoe, they did show an entire woman, and it's not about weight loss, I'm using it as an example, because those commercials also promote toning your body, including parts mentioned in this commercial.
I just don't get the big deal at all. Commercial's like this have been done before, and as I've seen somone else say, the world is becoming more shock value based.
I don't look down on Reebok at all for choosing a more risque commercial.
I already said that the earlier commercial was alright, since the main focus was toning your bottom. The camera only zoomed in on the models ass near the end for a few seconds. They made their point and added the small amount of sex appeal. (This commercial made me want the shoes. I liked the idea of the product.)
The problem isn't the shock value (I've seen breasts in ads before and I don't mind them), it's the idea that women should want to tone their bodies so men have more to look at.
Why would a guy be offended by a commercial like that? I know I wouldn't.
What do you want the commercial to do. Just say, "get a better butt by using these shoes"...and leave it as a blank black screen. Because, in my opinion, thats much more stupid in terms of marketing.

This ad wouldn't be on television if Reebok had a better ad team who had more creative ideas. The president of Reebok should consider firing the ad/marketing team and finding someone who actually understands how to sell to women.

I do see the point that's being made, but I still think that Reebok is doing more harm to their image than good with this garbage. I also think that if women don't stand up for themselves, no one else will. Women need to respect themselves as well. I have more respect for myself by NOT buying those shoes than I would if I did.

While you identified very serious truths that sexy and fit models in ads affect women your classification of this ad as such is a gross generalization. Just because women want be healthier/sexier does NOT mean that they have any less respect for themselves. If you're going to classify yourself as the norm (you aren't anymore in this post feminism world) and insult women who do want to change how they look, you're the egotistical one. I don't think you're even getting the point of the commercial at all. All you're seeing is a sexual objectification, which is why I wondered if Victoria Secret commercials would offend you.
This commercial isn't selling tits or vagina, it's selling a better physique...primarily legs and butt...in case it wasn't obvious by the voice over actually telling you this.

No, a male would not likely be offended if a commercial reduced him to merely a penis and a butt. Unlike women, men are usually not objectified. The objectification of the male body does nothing to perpetuate an already existing negative view of males. Women have to do a lot more than men to show that they have intelligence or a personality. Commercials and products like this only make it harder for women to be seen as anything more than a sexual fantasy.

For those complaining, look at it this way:
The shoe promotes a better physique. Primarily the butt, but also mentiones legs. Instead of just saying the words, "better legs and butt", they use a little skit.
This being the breasts becoming jealous of how nice the wearer's lower half is becoming.
Obviously with a commercial that promotes something such as this, it would be ideal for the advertisers to show a nicely toned female body. They're selling to women, and It's nice to look at.

Honestly, the first commercial where it was a woman talking about the product was alright, even though the camera panned and zoomed on her ass for a few seconds. This commercial just shows how much Reebok feels a woman is defined by her rack and ass.

I don't assume all men are pigs. I'm saying that Reebok's ad agency is run by monkeys who have no idea what they're doing. If Reebok truly wanted to make this about weight loss and getting a better physique, they could have shown an entire woman (Oh noes! But then the focus wouldn't be on her sweater puppies! ) and talked about the health benefits of losing weight.

In another commercial, also about this shoe, they did show an entire woman, and it's not about weight loss, I'm using it as an example, because those commercials also promote toning your body, including parts mentioned in this commercial.
I just don't get the big deal at all. Commercial's like this have been done before, and as I've seen somone else say, the world is becoming more shock value based.
I don't look down on Reebok at all for choosing a more risque commercial.

I already said that the earlier commercial was alright, since the main focus was toning your bottom. The camera only zoomed in on the models ass near the end for a few seconds. They made their point and added the small amount of sex appeal. (This commercial made me want the shoes. I liked the idea of the product.)
The problem isn't the shock value (I've seen breasts in ads before and I don't mind them), it's the idea that women should want to tone their bodies so men have more to look at.
