Actually Pops under current federal copyright laws it is not illegal to rip your own legally purchased dvd's for personal use, as long as it is personal use. The purchase of the dvd counts as your right, since when you purchase that dvd it officially becomes your property, so as long as you dont post links for the download online, or burn copies for friends, under federal law you are acting within the law.
@purplemonkeydishwa11: if u stuck with the the built-in presets u should be fine (i made a custom preset which gave me better results). You probably tweaked a setting that shouldn't have been altered. As long as your video is in .mp4,.m4v, or .mov with a 640x480 (4:3) or 640x360 (16:9) with b-frames set at 0 (iPods do not support this feature). You should've been ok, but if you are still having probs u can always pm me

if u have a mac, then install these two programs, handbrake (latest version) and mactheripper (search it up) the proble with handbrake is it doesnt break the copy protection that are on dvd's nowa days. After it goes through mactheripper, its not into mpeg 4 (the only file compatiple with psp, ipod etc.) soo u have to get it through handbrake and simply move it to itunes or where ever. for pc, try this, look up dvd decripter9removes copy protection and dvd shrink (converts to mpeg4 ) trust me.

Just use Magic DVD ripper. It is easier as it is one program and works on all DVDs even copy protected ones. Normall you have to buy it but type it into youtube and there is a video telling you how to get it free and it works. I am not advertising btw lol.

OK all of you with Vista have some trouble with this softwere so there is a program called "Magic DVD Ripper" its so easy to use that its scary. It causts $35.00. But you can register to unlock it. Just type this/Username:Team Crude
Password:A83-307reShlRP^:8q9. It works for Mac and PC. Now its illegal to do the register code becouse you did not pay it and using someones elses code. But it works superb qwality. You can format Rips in AVI or MP4 for ipod owners.

handbrake works on Mac but the windows version will NOT RIP SH*T, good thing I have a Mac. Now my DVD's are on my Apple TV w/o buying them again on iTunes. All you PC users just need to do is get a macmini (it's the cheapest way to get into Mac $500) or a used mini, just be sure it has intel and 10.5 or handbrake will be slow.

I cant get it to work on my windows I have a Phenom x3 windows machine with ultimate and no go.. but on my macbook dualcore it works every time, even on most of the ones clonedvd cant do on windows. Get a good used macmini on ebay just be sure it has superdrive, & intel cpu... I recommend osx 10.5 to use the newest version of handbrake which uses h264 codec. the handbrake version that works on 10.4.11 is REALLY slow (like 48hrs) to convert a movie in h264 while intel and 10.5 is like 2-3 hrs

123 copy dvd 2009 converts any dvds to mp4 with one click. Its awsome.
All i have 2 do after is drag and drop in my itunes library!

It wont let me rip my dvds cuz they are all copyprotected wtf, i even put in blackhawk down which came out before that stuff and it still wont work do i need a decrypter

OK all of you with Vista have some trouble with this softwere so there is a program called "Magic DVD Ripper" its so easy to use that its scary. It causts $35.00. But you can register to unlock it. Just type this/Username:Team Crude
Password:A83-307reShlRP^:8q9. It works for Mac and PC. Now its illegal to do the register code becouse you did not pay it and using someones elses code. But it works superb qwality. You can format Rips in AVI or MP4 for ipod owners.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!!! I have a vista, and i cannot say how easy this was. the username and password worked fantastically, and this is the first DVD ripper i love. It's quick, easy, simple, and good quality. Forget handbrake if u have a vista, this is SOOOO much better.

handbrake works on Mac but the windows version will NOT RIP SH*T, good thing I have a Mac. Now my DVD's are on my Apple TV w/o buying them again on iTunes. All you PC users just need to do is get a macmini (it's the cheapest way to get into Mac $500) or a used mini, just be sure it has intel and 10.5 or handbrake will be slow.

SAME! I tried Jodix, Videora, Appollo Handbrake! NUTHIN WORKS!!!! Is there not an easy way to just click on the dvd you want to convert to MP4 and then import it to ur ipod?????

handbrake is the crappiest dvd converter IF YOU HAVE A WINDOWS OS. If you have a vista (like me) use magic dvd converter, its AMAZING>!!!

I cant get it to work on my windows I have a Phenom x3 windows machine with ultimate and no go.. but on my macbook dualcore it works every time, even on most of the ones clonedvd cant do on windows. Get a good used macmini on ebay just be sure it has superdrive, & intel cpu... I recommend osx 10.5 to use the newest version of handbrake which uses h264 codec. the handbrake version that works on 10.4.11 is REALLY slow (like 48hrs) to convert a movie in h264 while intel and 10.5 is like 2-3 hrs
