  • Superb!!!!

  • Absolutely flawless!!!

Always one of my favorite later 50s ballad.

  • Thank you very much, posting for this record.

  • Thanks for the info. The copy of The Thrashers has to be Slim's, because I picked it up in the early 70s. The flip is "Jeannie". Just being from Slim's gives the record a certain mystique, if you can understand that. I've never seen The Videos on Mainline, so I was curious as to whether or not it was a boot, or whatever. Thanks for clearing that up, too.

  • ty for posting it its a great song anyway you can get it(jeannie)LOL

  • i used to have this i love the flip side better i wish i could get it back any condition

  • There were 4 different pressings of this. The originals (the one I have shown here) are very rare. This was originally 78 only, but the owner put out a few hundred 45s about a month after the 78 was issued. You can tell if it's the rare press because the recorded music only takes up about a 3rd of the record (tiny grooves). The record was pressed again twice in the 60's, but the grooves are much larger. It was also issued on Candlelite. If you don't mind having a later press, it's out there

  • @PJDooWop As an L.A. collector, I don't really know that much about NYC reissues, etc. I have the Thrashers on Masons on red vinyl- which re-issue is this? Someone told me it was the last one. Can you straighten me out? Thanks! PS I also have The Videos, " Trickle Trickle" on Mainline. Do you know anything about this? East Coast records are sort of a mystery to us out here in La La Land. Thanks again.

  • Ok, I can straiten both out. If your red wax Mason's has much bigger print than mine, it was pressed by Slim Rose of Times Square Records about 1961. If the print is about the same as my copy shown in this video and is machine stamped, that's a reissue put out in the 80's I believe. That's an interesting copy because you generally don't see machine stamped reissues.

Mainline was partially owned by Jocko Henderson, as was Casino records. The Main Line issues of that were done in the early 60's

  • @PJDooWop old and nice

  • and im guessing the copy you have is worth what 15-20 bux?

  • It's hard to put a price on something like this, because it's a low grade but it's very rare. I've seen one copy in a similar grade sell for $300, and I paid a little bit more for my copy. The book value on a mint copy is $1,800

  • rare, rare, rare!!!hey PJ, lock this one away. i've known about this side but never seen or heard it before. thank you sooooo very much for sharing. tom d brick,nj

  • This copy is the first original I've ever seen as well. Hopefully I'll be able to upgrade my copy one of these days, although I know the chances of coming across another copy of this record are slim to none.

  • Wow - I've talked to oldies DJ after oldies DJ, and no one has ever even HEARD of Blue Melody!

  • It's probably because Blue Melody was a flipside. The a-side isn't well known either.. It's called Ramblin' Man. I haven't heard the record myself but I've seen it more than once

  • I bet this is not as rare as "Blue Melody" by Kris Kristofferson, from 1959!

  • LOL... Sorry to laugh, but with all due respect there's no comparison. I've seen a few copies of Blue Melody by Tony and Kris on the Manor label.. It was actually offered in an auction a few years back for a starting bid of $35 (google it). This record by The Thrashers is worth $1,800 in mint condition. From conversations I've had with a few of the big time collectors, I surmise that less than 100 copies of this record exist in the world. There were reissues, but the original press is quite rare

  • I agree with others that the flip is also a winner.

  • I got my copy in an auction in 2008.

  • it brings pleasure to my ears,Thank you :)))

  • Wow! Talk about a rare 45! This is worth over $1000 in near mint condition. You are very lucky to find this one. Great song!

  • Yeah, this record is without a doubt within the rarest of the rare category. I've done pretty well with low grade records, but I was involved in an aggressive bidding war for this 45. It wasn't cheap, but it was nowhere near a grand.

  • Thanks for a beautiful song and a wonderful label (it's like a sample from an archaeological rock 'n' roll dig. Dig?).

  • I agree.. I think this was one of two releases for this extremely rare label

  • Play "Jeannie". Crazy fast song. Also a Candlelite reissue.

  • I will definitely post Jeannie.. My copy is noisy in spots, but the sound is better than the Slim Rose Mason's pressings as well as the Candlelites

  • Amazing !!!

  • amaZing. thanks

  • Incredible!

  • I agree.. The song, the label, the group, and the record itself
