I've been to DSI for the NCCAF (improv section, btw). Its a hard room to perform in just because of the way the space is set up. Plus, you can't fit very many people in.

I would say that knowing that, he got a good reaction from the crowd.

Seeing as how people are powerful social models capable of rapidly influencing each other's perceptions, thoughts, actions, and emotions, the audience's reaction isn't always the most accurate judgment of 'funny'. This can explain why some nights comedians are 'explosive' and other nights every joke they tell flops. People feed off of one another.
