  • its 250 for the sheath w the pocket and fire steel is it really worth it

  • its beautiful...i want one lol will be going to his website! thank you! you also do amazing reviews. so i decided to subscripe

  • this is a great sheath and worth the money......1 sheath for life....

  • Want a cheaper sheath that is still great quality?

    Go to:

    savagemadesheaths(dot)com

    =)

  • Try sky storm leather I know they make a bk2 leather sheath with a fire steel for one hundred bucks. Looks great too and made in the USA check it out if your looking for a sheath.

  • Really nice sheath, the only downsides I can see are the carry options, I'm a vertical type of guy as well as the bulk, but for a bushcraft knife this is awesome. I am really glad there are people in the US of A making top notch products today. Cool stuff man.

  • 250 bucks.....funny since its a 50 dollar knife

  • have you considered doing a fairbairn sykes commando dagger review?

  • Ultimtely a sheath isnt the point the knife is what counts. It's the car you drive the garage you park it in is less important.

  • Those studs are a nice thing to have, a button will rust out and break. Stud can't do that :)

  • excellent sheath for an OK knife.

  • @Whipt well what would you call a good knife?

  • @THEGRIMREAPER5650 the KaBar is a good knife. It is held back a little by its rattail tang. If it was a genuine full tang blade it would be excellent. the Rattail tang may make it better for a fighting knife though, by reducing overall weight.

  • i prefer kydex for my knives, but for pure rugged good looks leather simply cannot be beat!

  • Does anyone have a video of this sheath actually being used or is it just a fancy sheath for show? Horizontal small of back carry of a kabar seems like it would be awkward.

  • Genius!

  • it will conflict with his morals i guess but it'd be a great idea for him to sell the ones he got little things wrong with for less

  • badass sheath, needless to say.

  • i love the ringtone jeff lol

  • That's a very nice looking sheath ! Shame it's out of my price range :-(

  • Very nice review!

  • does it blend? :)

  • The pocket is for a sharpening stone, morons.

  • Even if I could afford this, I don't think I have a knife that deserves this nice a sheath.lol

  • in my opinion, natchez bowie fits this sheathe

  • I wish that it actually had a belt loop

  • Some people are going to bitch about the cost of these. They don't realize these are great quality, handmade, badass sheaths and very well worth the price. Great review on a little known but excellent company.

  • That is a sweet!

  • Comment removed

  • Shit why do I watch these videos...now I have to buy that too, lol

  • Can you have this sheath tied to your leg? is this too big for that?

  • i would love a sheath like that for my BK2.

  • HOLY DAMN! Now THAT'S a sheath! :D

  • An altoids small’s survival tin fits perfectly in that front pocket.

  • it's not custom... it's in their product line. They specify that they do not make "custom" sheaths.

  • Stunning. The price is very reasonable. It has a beautifully rustic look to it. Treat the leather well and I bet it'll outlast the buyer.

  • Just curious... Would the pocket hold a zippo or maybe a lady zippo

    ?

  • you're an idiot

  • @FUwogs your a stupid troll on the internet that plays with butter knives

  • cool,BUT 139.00 for sheath and 110.00 for pouch and firestarter...thats nuts a 250 sheath for a 50 dollar knife???????????????..lol..fool

  • Is there a plastic or kydex liner in that leather? Leather isn't great for a non stainless blade.

  • Yeah its expensive, but its made from scratch and the attention to detail is staggering. I say if you have the means, get it.

  • That is a NICE sheath!

  • @MrLeonidas0001 i was just about to say the say thing it is very nice.

  • could u fit a zippo lighter in the pocket

  • Some reasons is that for the cost is he has a lot of innovations put into these, like the retention device, and he has Patents on those items. Which is why you don't see them on other sheaths. It is also has a 25 Year Warranty, which you will not find on many other sheaths. They are durable...and just down right awesome!!...buy a cheap sheath, lose your knife, and where are ya?

  • hedgehog leather works are so expensive

  • Dude you are so long winded, learn to say more with less words. Other than that, good review.

  • Wow! This is sooo nice! I also loved the knife release system...

  • WOW THATS A SOLID LOOKING SHEATH! looks heavy though :x especially if it gets soggy

  • This is a great sheathe i been looking for one that you can wear horizontaly

  • Instead of the fire flint they should have had a sharpening stone

  • Does the pocket fit a Zippo?

  • @bobhatesrainbows

Looks like it would fit a Slim or a Blu.

  • @bobhatesrainbows it looks like it should

  • @bobhatesrainbows no.. its like 2 mm too narrow

  • @bobhatesrainbows why would you need a zippo when theres a firesteel there?

  • @bobhatesrainbows wat you want to light ur lighter with the firesteel?

    tried it

    doesnt work

    lol :P

  • @bobhatesrainbows looks like it might fit a normal size one, but would definitely fit a slim

  • @bobhatesrainbows looks like it would

  • @bobhatesrainbows ooohhh yeah you can surely fit a Good Zippo in that pocket

  • @JoeMichaelRichard I like how you capitalized "Good" and "Zippo".

  • @bobhatesrainbows why a zippo when u have a fire steel -.-

  • @killerbob6250

    I don't know, redundancy?

But really, Zippos are just cool.

  • @fire1169101 I was just about to say this exact same thing!

  • @fetus2genius1 $249

  • I have started working with leather, made a few projects and done some homework. That is one beauty of a sheath and well made. My kudos to the maker Hedgehog Leatherworks. If you have the money and will use it then it is a good buy.

  • is it just me or do people always ask a question that is answered in the video?

  • Price?

  • @fetus2genius1 183 dollars im pretty sure

  • wheres the loop to put ur belt in?

  • @xxxFATTJxxx its supposed to be worn horizontally so the two looks on the back

  • @xxxFATTJxxx The two straps are ment to be attached to you back part of your belt, horizonally.

  • @xxxFATTJxxx u place it horizontally on you belt

  • @xxxFATTJxxx you wear it scout style or attach it to a pack.

  • Very nice work...I wish I could do that kind of work, very original design.

  • that pocket in the front looks perfect for a zippo lighter

  • after i heard the price i thought- AND youre getting a 25year warranty. honestly how could you go wrong buying one of these? solid buy, i think. its obvious he stands by his product. i'd much rather have this on my person then a "made in china" from wal-mart =)

  • @icedreams5 Right on! This sheath beats up the other sheaths and takes their lunch money!

  • My only concern with this is it says on the website this sheath is MOLLE compatible, but it appears to only be horizontal carry, not vertical. I would prefer the latter because it would take up less usable space than horizontal on my vest. Also, I'm not sure how you would attach it to your regular belt. Does this sheath support these carry options? Thanks.

  • @Quadmachine0

Well...This video is 2 years old :) Maybe it has changed since the video was made!

  • nice price i was expecting more like $500

  • Way to improve the kydex sheat(cheaper and as good) : secure an aldoids tin(i filled it with matches, striker, snare wire, plasters, alcohol wipes, tinder and still some space left) to the knife with several ranger bands. I love ka-bars but a full tang would make it indestructable.

  • oh my gosh :O

the whistle at 7:50 scared the tar out of me XD

Oh i Love HLW by the way, But Im too young to afford one :(

    (14)

  • My only problem with buying this sheathe is.. The sheathe costs more than the knife xD!

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor Way more

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor depends what knife you put in it! ;)

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor thats because it will out last the knife you put in it.

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor yeah i find those kind of purchases to be more luxury than anything else :P

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor The knife isn't worth a penny if the sheath breaks or the knife falls out of it during difficult terrain. Their sheaths should last longer than the knife does.

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor Welcome to hand crafted, high quality products made by Americans in America, no junk from some foreign country with who knows what quality of materials made by essentially slave labor.

  • @davethevanman Hell yeah! Made in the U.S.A.

(I also accept, Made in Germany, Ireland, Japan, and France) ;)

  • @J88Wolf For quality yes there are several countries I would by product from, like Swiss just about anything, and Scandinavian steel for knives. But with our economy the way it is right now I PREFER to purchase American, local if I can, so my money stays HERE and helps the families suffering the corporate banksters ruining our country. I also try and purchase from small businesses when I'm able.

  • @davethevanman Hey, your preferences are the same as mine buddy. :)

  • @davethevanman Too bad this made in America stuff has to cost 10x as much!!

  • @st1ckycheese I won't disagree that hand made products do cost more, but there's a reason for that. When you by just about anything from a company like Walmart for example, that product is usually made with substandard parts by quite literally slave labor who get paid just about nothing (a lot of time young children) with little to no quality controls. So your choices are mass produced junk (in most cases) and hand made quality, but expensive, products.

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor might hint at the quality of the knive, however.

  • @BillyOwnsTrevor yes but that sheath is so amazing though it is one of the best i have seen anyways!

  • Awesome knife, i plan on buying one shortly and the hedgechog

  • Hi all

I have one thought to mention which you will see when you use the sheath, the fire steel holder will allow the oxidising of the fire steel when the fire steel gets wet.

I found this out the hard way my fire steel was in a used condition and in my fishing tray when the heavens opened up, the rain went into the tray and then the oxidising process started, and I had a green fir on the steel. So I would advise a better protection on the fire steel.

    I hope this helps everyone.

  • Matches.... would a Zippo fit?

  • dang man u got the premier holy shit package

  • nice NICE sheath,, but Very Very Espensive.. :(

  • PRADA Shoes cost more than $600 and they are NOT hand made ,they're a mass product and you get ZERO warranty ! So I'd rather have this for 25+ years ! Oh, and for anyone who thinks KA-Bar is shit ? Shit You ! They're very strong and great value for money!

  • Just looking up tech specs on the knife I ordered (NiB KA-BAR al blacked out with partial serration and handle of krayton) and saw a review for the knife and this ingenius sheath. great review on both products .Really jealous of this sheath! i have to pick between this, and getting my sebenza in raindrop damascus... afraid i'll have to hold off on the sheath until get that folder. GREAT review, good angles and detail. Keep up the good work man!

  • i dont even have a big knife but i want one! :D

  • can i buy just the pocket and fire steel

  • Great sheath, very good looking but doesn't look very realistic for survival purpose, it looks ridiculously heavy and big for hiking or active hunting. AND the price is kind of painful.

  • way to much for a shealth. that IS a great shealth but not very practical.

  • so that makkes you 15

  • fantastic review, and its nice but no way would I personally pay that much.

  • Wow

  • looks very nice

  • This is an extremely nice piece of leather-work but someone with a fair amount of leather working experience crank one of these out themselves, (It would take a lot of time and prior leather working knowledge but it's really not as hard as It looks). I'll give them serious props for workmanship and creativity but $250 dollars is excessive. In my opinion Id rather use my standard KA-BAR leather sheath and carry some crap in a separate pouch on my belt and save about $150.

  • Some really nice things become crap when the price is too high.

  • $280 for a leather sheath???? Thats crazy!

You can get the same quality handmade sheath from Garreth Townsend knives! He is amazing and they are around $90.00.

This is just as well made and is a lovely sheath but its too pricey!!!!

    Great vid though buddy!

    :)

  • 300!!!!!!! thats like 5 ka-bars hahahaha

  • jeeeezzzz 319$ ! wow i c he did good job , but dream price

  • Nice workmanship but i would prefer kydex ore secureex for use in the wild leather absorbs water gets heavier and youcant keep your carbon knives free of moisture

  • How can it be woth double what I payed for my Ka-Bar! Its a beautiful peice of workmanship but come on...

  • @murf69 Because they aren't mass produced. Mass production makes it cheaper to produce things.

  • wow man you killed me with the price, i think its a really nice sheath and i mean I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT it makes me remember my old boy scout days in uruguay, we work with leather a lot too and this is really really nice, i just wish it was under 100 but it really is a beauty, something to pass on to your sons etc etc, i just cant afford it.

  • It would be nice if he would put another strap on the back of the sheath that allows a person to wear it vertically, on a waist belt strap.

  • ka-bar <3

  • I'm confused on how you attach this sheath to your belt. I don't see a loop for that. Otherwise, no doubt this sucker would last a few years.

  • @spiff2268 Those straps around the top and middle are how you attach it to your belt. Its ment to be worn horizontally.

  • @enoughraptor6 Thanks for clearing that up for me.

  • nice sheath! But they start at 139 bucks! ouch!

  • really nice sheath but for the money ....

  • a fool and his money are soon parted

  • Wooo.. Yeah its pretty nice, but $250 is a lot of money.

  • i thought about getting one when i first saw this sheath, then i saw its like 250 bucks. that sucks

  • Nice sheeth but definetly not worth 248 dollars. A person doesnt need a sheeth with pockets just buy a backpack

  • that is really an excellent sheath, to bad he only makes them for some of the crappiest knives out there.

  • jeff wouldnt that little pocket fit a zippo perfectly?

  • 2 cents a day? I don't get it. How would this pay for itself over the course of 25 years?

  • My advice is that the cost of sales disminullan extremely mind, than any other manufacturer if you can make it and sell it at reasonable price. $ 250 are crazy.

  • Comment removed

  • this is very expensive, looking at the materials used for very expensive to be of 30 or 35 dollars cost to the buyer end and in a given case would be personal mind to give 40 dollars and the cost of production by volume and very expensive if serious is handmade from 10 to 15 dollars. the product looks good and functional, but the price is extremely ridiculous. I think they want to get rich from one day to another.

  • just make it your own, it will be more personal, and you save alot of money.

  • If you think $250 for 25 years of service is a good deal than kydex is a fantastic deal- $40 for 50+ years of service!

  • This sheath looks very well made but is way too heavy for serious survival situations. For regular camping, hiking, hunting or collecting it's nice but you will regret toting this bulky sheath around on a 15 mile trek in the mountains when you could have used a kydex sheath that costs $200 less, lasts forever, won't stain the blade, won't hold moisture and weighs 80% less. The Hedgehog Leather Works sheath is a work of art and I like it but its not as functional as Kydex.

  • Do they make custom sheaths for any knife?

  • i know you said it fits all styles... but i have a tanto full sized kabar... is that what you meant by any style?

  • with quality like this youll never need to buy another sheath ever again......you can pass it to your kids

  • Beautiful leather work but im almost afraid to see the price

  • NICE!!

  • I've always wondered about sheaths, popping the blade out in a angle, does it dull the blade? or cut the sheath ? Does pulling the blade straight out better?

  • holy crap thats sweet.

  • wtf kind of username is pureassassinii sounds like u should be waching game play videos wtf u probibly own no knifes

  • Pretty sweet Jeff, I'd never though, the leather sheath that came with mine is scraped to hell from camping :D

  • i think im going to get one custom made with the optional cup holder

  • what about the tanto?

  • u should put a zippo in the square-ish pocket

  • @zippolover13 clever i just noticed that o.o

  • I wish they a version for the short kabar, the 5 1/4" blade

  • nice sheath, crap knife. It may be a classic but back then it's all they had. Nowadays there are loads of custom beauties more worthy of such a sheath.

  • truely a beautiful sheath. i will be saving for the full package with a leather stacked ka-bar

  • im getting the bk2 and they making a sheath for it and i will be getting there basic sheath for $180 and Micarta Scales later for 40 making one bad ass knife kit

  • Could that pocket on the front hold a zippo?

  • I don't see how it hangs from your belt in the conventional position. No belt loops.

  • nice sheath, dude! a bit pricey, but really cool!

  • Well the Sheth is $140 know

  • i don't know about those studs. over time the non-reinforced holes are going to wear out and get bigger and the straps will become insecure. this is especially a problem for the guard.

  • i thought this was a belt in the little pic lol i love ka-bars but im more of a classic ka-bar guy. cool vid as always

  • the pocket is meant to hold a small sharpening stone D'

  • @comgetit1

You would not have it vertical with the tip to the ground it would be horizontal on your belt across your back

  • Should there be serrations on a full sized Ka Bar? does to serrations do anything important or is it just for decoration?
