I know and love this valley very much, but I have no objection to turbines being placed there. They are beautiful and fascinating objects, and like cooling towers at conventional power satations, improve the landsacpe a great deal. Think of them as elegant, noble and majestic sentinels and maybe you will grow to love them...
You are joking right? These monstrosities are useless! Have a look at the turbines around camelford sometime! Most of them don't work! They are a huge blot on the landscape! and the electricity they provide is totally disproportionate to the energy used to create them! And the energy it will need to dispose of them. If you think these things are going to save the planet, then you need to look more carefully at them!
No. Turbines are exquisite. I would like them to be 8 X bigger and more efficient.
Many times people have reacted with horror to landsacpe change. Railway viaducts were detested and now we preserve them long after the last train has gone.
This valley was 'industrialised' by ancient mineral extraction, C18th tree clearance for charcoal and grazing and by beautiful dry-stone walling. It is not pristene. The sheep will vanish with vegetarianism and woodland will return, turbines remaining.
