The letters indicate the chords that underlie the piece. A/E means an A chord with an E bass note. It's all clearly explained at the site.

letters stands for the notes: A= La, B = Si, C= Do, D = Re, E = Mi, F = Fa.

In this case, he tell you the notes he's playing with his thumb, playing open strings ( without touching the frets ). The strings are ( from below ) E, B, G, D, A, E.

its a pretty simple lesson, the notes that appear on the screen are the bass notes that you play along with the melody.. as for the melody you can go by his hand movements and figure it out by ear testing it onyour own guitar
