What always happens is that the decent people who make up the vast majority of the inhabitants of ireland are held hostage by a small group of 'people' bent on causing trouble and claiming to speak for some ideal. I think the riot says more about social problems in Dublin than anything else. A little knowledge of class issues and a walk down tthomas street for eg. explains a lot about why riot in dublin happened.
