On Dec. 9, 1965, something slammed into Kecksburg from out of our atmosphere and was recovered with haste by the U.S. military. To this date, there has been no word as to what it was.
Originally it was thought to have been a Russian probe from Venus, but that has been scientifically ruled out. I would think that with elections for governor and U.S. senator and congressmen going on, the candidates could be asked to pledge to find out what it was.

The burden of "irrefutable proof" lies with those who think it was an alien space craft, not the other way around...that is the more incredible claim. Re-entry was on a polar orbit, consistent with a Soviet launch.
