I'm beginning my backpacking journey in Sofia, Bulgaria next year. Watching this video makes me want to venture the whole country. So much history and places to see! I can't wait! Hails from Australia.
Bulgaria is a good destination for tourists as Romania too but is a not good country for its citizens because it's very poor and it have not so modern infrastructure or technology (maybe a few locations).
Bulgaria is one of the greatest countries ever. The Bulgarians are brave people who suffered a lot due to the Turkish slavery. If anyone heard of Batak you know what I mean, and if not just two words - Batak massacre. It was a horrible act and yet our country still have good relationships with Turkey and that is because the nation is proud and strong enough to leave history in the past but ofcourse to keep the pain and the sorrow for itself. I am proud to be Bulgarian and I am proud of Bulgaria!

Very nice video. I have been to all of those places as a Bulgarian, except in the rich Tourist's Hotels. My advise is not to stay in them but to get out and look for a Tour guide. There is a lot to see, and since you already know the Interior of a Hotel you should look at something more interesting.

Be careful when you visit Bulgaria from either west Europe (they stop and kidnap&burn the cars) or north, coming from Romania (police stops you especially at night and harrasses you, asks for bribe-50 leva or 50 euro, saying that they will hold the documents until you go pay to the bank in Varna at 3 o'clock midnight (which u can't obviously). This has happened 2 times so far, at before entering varna coming from burgas.Important-Don't travel at night in Bulgaria with a foreign license plate!

Very nice video. I have been to all of those places as a Bulgarian, except in the rich Tourist's Hotels. My advise is not to stay in them but to get out and look for a Tour guide. There is a lot to see, and since you already know the Interior of a Hotel you should look at something more interesting.

I was a elementary school student in 1988 and our school organized a trip with 3 coaches to Bulgaria. It was surrealistic nightmare, we could not find anything to eat and cut off the trip after 5 days . After that I had to pass through many times when I traveled to Western Europe, it just has gone worst every year after year. How can you even compare it with Turkey???

Be careful when you visit Bulgaria from either west Europe (they stop and kidnap&burn the cars) or north, coming from Romania (police stops you especially at night and harrasses you, asks for bribe-50 leva or 50 euro, saying that they will hold the documents until you go pay to the bank in Varna at 3 o'clock midnight (which u can't obviously). This has happened 2 times so far, at before entering varna coming from burgas.Important-Don't travel at night in Bulgaria with a foreign license plate!
