It is with sadness that the announcement is made of the untimely death this morning, 2/20/2012 of Mike Snow, the consummate showman and hornplayer. Mike can be seen playing the mellophone solo in the Skyliner uniform during their rendition of the Elk's Parade.
R.I.P. Mike, you will live on in this video forever.
I was in a very obscure DC but as a kid and I still remember a lot of people raving about these guys anytime they returned from a contest in which they were competing.
little did they know when they marched how great what they were doing would be, such that decades later, they would gather together and do it one more time. Priceless memories, and I am so glad I was able to be a part of drum & bugle so many years ago.
It certainly does bring back fond memories. In addition to these most recognizable songs for the respective corps, it was nice to see Butch Anderson memorialized in the clip, too.
This is incredible! I just came across this video, what a wonderful find. The corps of the 60's were my life back then, and whenever I get to see alumni corps it get shivers down my spine. This brings back such great memories. Thanks for posting this.
Now that's was drum and bugle corps is all about!!!! What a moving piece of music and what a terrific idea it was to put it on the stage. It's atribute to the great Archer-Epler "Musketeers" and to all of our alumni corps. Thanks for keeping these memories alive and well. AFO OFA
Phenomenal fun ! 18 years ago and they were playing some of the memories then. Indeed the corps of the golden age played memorable music. It was 'ours' and Hopkins and DCI can have their memories of their style as well, but I doubt anyone will recall what most ( not all ) corps played even 2 years later.
Thanks for this posting Kev. It brought back a whole bunch of really good memories. Hey, that soloist for 'Cherry Pink' reminded me of Mike DelVecchio
Patrick Taylor & Erica Keller came out for Reilly...I don't know the DM from Hurcs, but I know (or hope) someone will post here to let us both know....thanks for watching!!!
David McLennan (his twin brother was a terrific lead in the Hurcs) was the DM during the good times of the early 80s. Great guy, excellent DM. Did the 1992 Prelims show with a dislocated shoulder, and got more out of the corps than I thought the had in them.
1:50 RIP Mike Snow

Once upon a time indeed...
Fitting that the piece ends with a shot of Bobby Carney.

I believe that is a very young David Dion as DM for the Hurcs.
