@seikomaruhana I have most of their early stuff that came out in the 80's and early 90's.....They have tons of talent....I just do not feel that they had the following like Metallica or Motley Crue, though I feel that Queensryche was much better than those big bands....I need to go see them at least once...After all of these years I just got to see my favorite band Iron Maiden in Dallas when they started the Final Frontier tour...

From the first time I heard this song I just loved it. It is still my favourite song of all times. Play it as loud as possible, lay back, close your eyes and just dream.
The words are very impactful, and the song itself performed beautifully, with all the emotion the words depict. This song has recently had a strong affect on me. It helps me deal with myself in my head regarding the release of my mommas soul into the gates of heaven. With the phyically parting, my thoughts are my dreams, and these lyrics comfort me.To know, in spirit we still care and hold each other with loving energy is very comforting indeed.
@CdteBreetai I know your comment was from two years ago, but it looks like no one had the answer for you. In the event you are still around: He wrote this song as a way to explain dreams to his daughter.
If this song is so simple why didn't you're simpleton mind write it? You'll probably have to look up the word simpleton. I'm reffering to the song Silen Lucididty. Not simple by any means. Beautiful classic.
One of the best written ballads EVER. Not too cheesy, great lyrics and great instrumentation. Geoff Tate's vocal range is one of the best ever. I watched them perform this song live in at the Los Angeles Forum in the 90's. Even though some of the orchestration was pre-recorded, the performance was amazing. Geoff's voice was just as good live.
So sorry to hear that Leah! I am glad this song did give you some strength and comfort to get through that tough time period in your life. It is indeed a very good and spiritual song ever written by this group. God Bless!
sorry for your friend...music is a great medicine for the soul, try to remember only the great moments you had with your friend, thats a great blessing!!! merry christmas Leah!!!
An erotic dancer named "dallas" performed a routine to this song in charlotte,nc at my bachelor party back in '96...every time I hear this, that's all I can think about :p
Every heavy metal & progressive metal band has its power ballad - this is the very best of power ballads. Beautifully executed and produced... lovely lovely song...
Isn't there another song with a similar guitar part but it starts out soft with something like, "Now, maybe..." and then ends harder with singing, "Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Feel..." Something like that? I could have sworn it was Silent Lucidity by Queensryche but this isn't it.
Queensryche is the true king of rock ballads if you ask me. Whitesnake is like saccarin in comparison. I don't know which I prefer though... This or Bridge...
Quite simply a masterpiece and one of the best songs of all time. Everything from the intro, lyrics, the instrumentals, chorus and ending. So moving - if you really listen it takes you to a different place...
Hmmm bit of a stretch this comment. Yes for the intrumental on the intro, no for basically the rest. Alice cooper has some great songs, but only women bleed is only an OK song. Lucidity is a fantastic song and has much more depth than coopers song...
Lucky enough to see this band on more than one occasion and meet them around the time of this albums release at the height of their careers. This track still sends a shiver down my spine. The 'Ryche rock on.............
u just become intoxicated in its tranquility and u rise to a higher level , the lovely lyrics , stunning vocals and amazing guitaring allow u to become released from lifes daily pressures and expectations!!!!
I must say that I totally agree with you on what you say. I find this song to be very moving, it has a way of puting you in a "zone of your own" it's a great song... I especially like the drums too.
I firmly know that music is music, and no one can judge on it saying " this song is better, that one is crap ", but Silent Lucidity is so far better than all, i mean, all ballads and slow songs i've ever listened since now.
I've become addicted to this song, too. And this morning, I really heard the words and not just the music...oh, so gorgeous. Saved to Faves, along with the stellar live version you sent to me.
I love this song. I used to listen to it in my youth when i felt suicidal. It related perfectly to how i was feeling at the time. Now i listen to it for different reasons with 20/20 i look back and see how close i came to "mind tricked you to feel the pain of someone close you leaving the game of life".
poodtang1, do not feel suicidal, we know that life is not easy at all! When we were born, we accept that life means struggling, fighting. I have seen alot of bitterness in my life, I love this song!
This song is about Lucid Dreaming, a higher state of reality that can be entered by awakening the conscious mind within a dream.

We now think of ourselves in that position, looking over our children as they dream. A truly beautiful record. When Geoff Tate asked if there were any fathers in, prior to playing this song, atleast half the audience bellowed out and put their hands up! By the way, release dates: Empire 1990, Silent Lucidity, 5th single, Sept 1991.

The guy who arranged the orchestration for this song is Michael Kamen, who sadly passed away in '05 or '06....He conducted the ochestra for Metallica's S&M as well as the music for the "Band Of Brothers" miniseries. Awesome talent that guy had!
Can anyone tell me why this band never made it huge....So much talent.....

The guy who arranged the orchestration for this song is Michael Kamen, who sadly passed away in '05 or '06....He conducted the ochestra for Metallica's S&M as well as the music for the "Band Of Brothers" miniseries. Awesome talent that guy had!
