  • i am a supieror guitarist to this man, if you will look to my channel and get a much better lesson on how to play Beatles on the rickenbacker

  • I don't know if he is rich but it is a cool way to spend the money.

  • on the fret board i know its a short scale but it make the same sounds at the end of the fret board as if you had the full scale neck?

  • On the shortened neck how many frets..hard to count looks like 21? Has RIC made the spaces much smaller to do the 2/3rds or 3/4ths scale????

  • I didn't recognise any Smiths song in this video???

  • Love It!

  • maybe i'm being petty, but i'm pretty sure no rickenbacker has ever had an f hole in it

  • Many, many Rickenbackers have had f-holes in them. 325's had them on and off for years - I think that might've even been the standard from the mid 60's onwards. Other models that were sold to Europe had f-holes because they figured the European market wouldn't like the slash holes as much.

  • @Zebonka i stand corrected, thanks for the info!

  • It was because John Lennon had his 58 Ric painted black buy an aquantinence's father who painted old english carriages, that Mr Hall had the 64' 325 coated in black (Jetglo) and presented it to John in time for the Ed Sullivan show in Miami.Otherwise, Ric wouldn't have borthered with coming up with "Jet Glo".

  • What strings are on that????

  • 4:06? song anyone??

  • @LtDrg35 "Born On The Bayou" by Creedence Clearwater Revival. There are several good live performances here on youtube.

  • @Gratussi cool

  • Nothing says rock and roll quite like a middle-aged Asian man in a bad turtleneck jamming on a Rickenbacker. God bless you, sir!

  • I'm glad that you are one of the three people to own that style of guitar- you know its worth and appreciate it, and are kind enough to show it to us :)

  • John Lennons original 325 58 Hamburg was originally A maple glo, He painted the guitar black Himself. For thoughts who didnt know.

  • What year is this from? As in, vintage or new? Looks straight from the shop!

  • John Lennon didnt play this exact model.. What you have a a 64', he played a 58'.

  • @schemo0 You daft!! John recorded this model more than his '58! The only LP his '58 was used on was "Please, Please Me!" He used the '64 325 as his main axe up until the Casino. Not only did he own a '64 325l, but he also owned a 325/12 & a Capri!! Go back under your hole & come back when you know some real Beatle history... Need visual proof watch the She stadium concert... Ass!!!

  • the guitar of my dreams.... How much it costs?

  • i doubt this is original 64 unless you got it from MG (music Ground) , David, I see no wear

  • Hi,I have a question for you. Is this 325 an actual 325 made in 1964? If so then the one you have is the only other jetglo made other then john's. They only made 2 jetglo 325 in 64`

  • @remstar96 nah doubt it, unless it was kept in a time capsule.. :\

And anyway, if you're looking for a John Lennon model/replica, you want the 58' model, rickenbacker do great reproductions these days

  • @schemo0 As I said earlier. Lennon owned 4 Ricks. two 325's one 325/12 & a Capri. His 1958 325 was only used on the 1st LP. His 2nd 325 was his main axe up until his Casino around 1966. You people are dumb...

  • @puppiesinspace

He gave his Capri to Ringo.

  • go onto allansmusic site and you can buy the 325 in jetglo

  • half the views are from me

  • "You Can't Do That" is one of my favorite Lennon songs - the guitar sound really makes the song! Love your videos - I turned my 11 year old grandson on to them - he's learning how to play. Keep up the good work!

  • Wow! Wow! And WOW!!!!!! That's all I can say. I grew up listening to legendary groups like Buddy Holly, the Beatles, CCR, and Byrds, Tom Petty, etc and was always a huge fan of Rickenbacker guitars. Unfortunately, all I could afford was Ibanez and Washburn guitars. It is such a real treat to learn more about these incredible instruments that shaped the face of classic rock we know today. Love hearing pieces of "You can't Do That," "What I like About You," and "Born on the Bayou!" Keep it up!!!

  • damn dude!!!!

  • no mames pinche guitarra la amoo mas que mi mujer hahah

  • Hey, buddy I'm coming over to your house to try out your guitars. I can only stay about three months though. Just set up a cot in that room for me. I like big fluffy pillows so make sure you provide that and Iike dinner to be served around six-ish.

    O.K. See you soon....

  • Love this demo!

  • great tone, great video

  • Does the 350V63 and the 325 sound pretty much the same/

  • Lennons was natural and was painted.

  • He had more than one Rickenbacker. The 2nd one (the one given to him in America in '64) was pretty much identical to the one in this video.

  • The greatest punk/hard rock band used two Rics at times...MC5!

  • What is the Beatles' song you're playing at 3:15?

  • @falafelis "You Can't Do That" on A Hard Day's Night.

  • If your going to do it title it Rickenbacker 325 Rocks Beatles, CCR, The Smiths, Led Zep, Romantics

  • @jinete2420 no they are three single coils not humbuckers and, john forgety has,hes a great guitarist and he was the lead of c.c.r,so your wrong in both acounts,I think you should think before you speak, and george harrison and peter frampton have guitars with three pckups in it......dumbass

  • @joewalshinjamesgang Well I think I should be too old like u, or have nothing else to do for knowing all about it... but instead I have education to not insult others, and I say wathever I want, even if it dont please u... moron

  • @jinete2420 the sad thing is im thirteen years old and i already have more musical knowlege than you

  • dude if there's an earthquake where you live, you're gonna lose A LOT of money... I'd put all those expensive beauties on the ground, haha. Also, congrats on your guitars, man.

I hope I'll be able to buy at least one Rick

  • @the804punk he added it later

  • @the804punk that was his first one. he had five rickenbackers.

  • I love your video presentations. Very well delivered so as to be understood by even non-guitar players like myself; who have very limited knowledge of the inner-workings of guitars. I've always been a Ric fan since I saw John Lennon gracing the stage with one of those beautiful instruments in the 60's. Thanks.

  • I think he likes Rickenbackers.

  • Certainly one strangest scale ...

I built a short scale Strat for my 10 y.o. son. The neck is 2 frets shorter, it's quite a lot of work to have it playable in any situation (there's a tremolo).

With a short scale strings get loose, I can figure how it may be on a neck that's 4 frets shorter.

To compensate I put 10-52s, but still it's loose.

The sound is a bit more "meaty" with shorter scale, to get an idea you put a capo at the 2nd (or 4th) fret of a standard scale guitar and tune it back to E.

  • Are you rich?

  • @Sethummms I think he just doesn't have kids. You wouldn't believe the money you get if you have a well paying job with nobody to pay for!

  • You've got a rare one there, Dave.

  • this video makes me laugh when he is playing and and he looks at the camera.lol

  • that guitar has alot of history behind it, and i respect that but I do not like how it sounds.

  • where are the smiths in this?

  • Wow great collection and awesome playing thumbs up from me :)

  • cool demos

    Great Sound

  • That's a truly beautiful guitar

  • I believe that another is owned by Pete Townsend of The Who.

  • @PastaCheifFilms He smashed every one he had in the 60s so I doubt it.

  • i am drooling over my keyboard... :P

  • nice guitar man!! ur lucky to have one...my mom is getting me a rickenbacker 325 c58 and my dad is getting me a rickenbacker 360 c64 12 string.. i wish i had all that gear!

The only reason I ask is because im a huge John Fogerty fan and try to listen to and play fireglo 325's whenever I get the chance. Great video brother.

  • I have a 90's Rickenbacker 325.The Hamburg model. Done a fair bit of work on it to get it to look like the one Lennon was using on the first Ed Sullivan Show. At the end of the day like all Rickenbackers except for say the 4001 bass, they all sound the same and are pretty ordinary.

  • they were usually maplglo

  • Amazing collection, Sir.

Can you please answer one question ?

Is the 325 a solid body or is it empty inside ??????

  • @supermecis It's semi-hollow

  • I cannot believe your collection!!! Freaking incredible! How many do you have? Man, you are what all of us guitar players aspire to be (and have) :)

  • where do you get the money for these guitars?

  • am i the only one hoo clapped and said hey! when he did what i like about you?

  • jaintly (usernaem) also has this model, that makes 4

  • Less talk more rock!

  • not only is that guitar amazing, but you play it very well! thank you!

  • who will keep all of your guitars when you've passed away?

  • please let me buy that

  • LUCKY!!!! how much did it cost? and if its gone start looking for me!!! HEHEHE

  • You are awesome! I like your review... you don't swear, you know how to play, and you are not boring.... but the best thing is this very expensive guitar... :D

  • Just out of curiosity would this guitar be good for metal provided that you have the proper amp?

  • i know they ripped off the agile harm 1 is a look alike of this guitar, but does it sound the same? i need 2 know by christmas

  • is there any other type of guitar that looks like that one ???

  • @krispybacon2 agile harm 1. im tryin 2 find out if it sounds like it

  • @mindlessprimitive let me know if it does

  • @krispybacon2 will do.

  • @krispybacon2 apparently people say it doesnt sound like a good rickenbacker at all. maybe you can replace the pickups with rickenbacker pickups and youd have the next best thing. i would love to do that.

  • how much do u want for it?

  • First electric guitar I ever picked up in a store was a John Lennon signature 325 in Sam Ash in Forest Hills, Queens. I was 12 and I drove the staff crazy that summer.

  • sounds terrible, but then again Lennon wasn't a guitar player.

  • How many rick do you have?

  • what's the song at 3:44 i think it's a Who song but i don't know please answer me =)

  • @obitobi100 What I Like About You by the Romantics

  • my uncle has one of those rickenbackers he's aslso got a 425 and a 360 12 1963 model like the rickenbacker used in a hard days night the one blonging to george

  • i've seen alot of models like that, i dont think they are too rare.

  • awesome for rhythm guitar playing. I prefer Bigsby whammy bars.

  • That Zeppelin part was incredible.... I had to double check the vid again to make sure you were still playing the Ric!

  • The Romantics???? Dude, love your videos but get real. lol

  • god, and i thought my '81 Rick 320 was goregeous. you essentially have the closest thing to johns guitar that anyone will ever have. period

  • Ricks are not meant to be used for shredding, just my opinion.

  • @mtsn I think you can use any guitar the way you want to, it doesn't really put shame on the name of the guitar in my opinion.

  • nice born on the bayou intro riff

    you have an amazing collection!

  • this solo - you can't do thad (:

  • I can't understand why more people don't play Rickenbacker guitars. I have been playing guitar for 36 years. For me, they are the best guitars on the market.

  • damn, youre a vintage guitar pimp!

  • i once saw a 325 that was possibly 24 frets, is there one like dat

  • @srocketdude That was a 350, a full scale guitar with 24 frets and the 325 body. I have one...

  • @MrVintagemusic can you review the 350?

  • what is the serial number Mr Vintage we know that lennons SN was DB122 & the richard smith book says that there were only two Jetglos not 3 or 4..yours looks like a reissue no?

  • @srocketdude yes but is other model you can take a look ok the rickedbanker page

  • is that a locking tremolo or just a normal one? because this is the most beautiful guitar ever!! and it sounds like the strings don't come out of tune when you use it and you use it quite a bit

  • @nowheremancameron It is the stock non locking tremolo. It stays in tune really well....

  • @MrVintagemusic thanks dude cos I'm saving up to get that guitar

  • @nowheremancameron lol nice! so YOUR The guy who took the name Nowheremancameron!!! thats what i wanted MY YOUTUBE NAME TO BE!! :O

  • i didn’t know it was such a rare guitar

  • @AlCapotasto yeah a white wall rocks, the guitar doesnt matter

  • That's the most amazing thing I've ever heard...proof you can do anything with any guitar (if you're good enought!)

  • @kswannie Thank you very much.

  • Johnny Marr...one of the greatest users of Rickenbackers for sure.

  • @JetMetropolis he basically is the smiths!

  • You know what's cool about you? You do not only collect, but you can also play!

  • if i had all your guitars ill never leave the house.

  • are you a hendrix fan? ´cause i hear lot of jimi style riffs.

  • It's still being manufactured? I haven't been able to find one anywhere. Awesome video though!

  • @lifestraight That is tremolo...

  • Is that shred from 6:00-6:15 in any particular song?

  • @cong404040 No, I was making it up as I went along...
