  • Guys, really, if you don't like this, then go watch something else.

They don't whip the horse like you think.

They whip on the blankets to make noise, so the horse won't lose his speed.

  • I don't much like the whip either. Fortunately, suspensions and fines are given for overuse. As well it should be. By the way, I love videos like these. You really get a feel of the excitement and intensity of going that fast on a horse. It's refreshing seeing it from a riders point of view.

  • people horse skin isnt thin like you think! some horses do have thin skin but most dont so its not hurting the horse as much as you think.

  • I don't understand why it's still allowed to hit the horse during a competition. Very old fashioned and unnecessary.

  • @93Linnea Do you think it hurts them?

  • stop hitting him

  • @tata3352 he is not hitting all the time..... he just making the movement of hitting to let the horse know he should go faster :/ pfffffff watch more races :/

  • @tata3352 he's not hitting the horse otherwise the horse head would rise more as a reaction he is swinging his arm to create an whip action.

  • I dont like this..

  • These horse are pure muscle, it's like a tap. These horses are in top condition as well. They hold the horses back in the beginning of the race, so that the horse has energy. They whip them at the end to tell them to the horses, go ahead and run as fast as you like. Obviously, you people need to learn a little more about racing.

  • The trainer I know uses acceptable training meathods, and doesn't push her horses at all. As a result they love racing and you can tell. For the reference I have a horse (ex racehorse) and I love him to bits, my parents have racehorses which they love too. I have worked with horses for many years not just racehorses and in my idea an ordinary riding school whip is far more cruel than a race one as race whips are CUSIONED and bend.

  • In Britain, jockeys are only allowed to use the whip 7 times during the race or they are banned. The whips they use are checked by the clerk of the scales/stewards before each race to see if they meet safe and moral standards. I don't believe the stick should be gotten rid of because it is also there for safety reasons (to correct). If a horse hangs in front of another and clip heels it could cause them both to fall and possibly cause a pile-up.

  • you guys know that this whipping is more for making a loud sound than for actually hurting the horse, right? you see its not a stick its got that big flap on the end that createss the sound. doesnt hurt that much

  • Both of you guys are right in a way. Ct i agree with you, horses shouldn't be whipped like that but the jockeys are aloud only 5 whips during the whole race or they get disqualified and If a horse didn't want to run he can easily find a way to show it... But Pc8 fat lazy horses can be awesome too :D making horses run isnt the only way to enjoy horses and pushing a horse to be its best isnt good. Every horse has its limits and you have to respect that instead of pushing it!

    This debate won't end

  • love the camera view, hate the sport of racing

  • whipping doesnt hurt them. please shut up. dont you think that PETA would have stopped that.

  • @runt217 Bahaa. You are suchh an idiot. Whipping them doesn't hurt them? Then why would they even do it? For the 'noise'? How can they hear the noise over the crowd screaming and the sound of the horses running? Answer me that, dumbass.

  • @Cottontail6969 dude please relax. im reading your conversation with paulcity and he is right....your angry as hell. horse are made to run. they love it. and just like human beings we need to be pushed harder. and right now paulcity is my best friend for not thinking whipping was hurting them. why are you here cotton if you dont like horse racing???? answer me THAT dumbass :) :)

  • @runt217 Maybe the video was in my related videos? I'm done. You people need some fucking sense shot into you. Maybe if someone whips you it will motivate you to THINK.

  • First off you saw the crop more than the horse felt it...second off I am too much of a lady to finish this rant, he ran a great race!

  • Hmmm thats funny-favorite racehorse, favorite jockey! :DD

  • This is sooooo cool!!!!!

  • i like that horse!

  • STOP WHIPPING THE DAMN HORSE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!>:O YOURE IN THE LEAD HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF SOME ONE WHIPPED YOU WHILE U CARRY SOME ONE RNNING AT FULL SPEED I HOPE ONE DAY HE BUCKS YOU OFF!!! anyway who thinks jockeys and other people stop abusing horses say i if your in favor for horses and leave the riding to people who care about horses!??!?!!? i am one my self for 8 years of my life

  • @pvw99

Tell me how many times he whips the horse. Seriously.

I know exactly how many times he hit the horse from start to finish and if you did also, I think you would retract that silly rant.

If you don't enjoy racing, that's fine. If you don't understand it or don't know what you are watching, don't insult yourself with childlike proclamations.

You'd be looking for a 'delete post' button if you watched this race from the original pan shot.

  • @pvw99

He only whipped him once. He was showing him and flagging the whip at him, so you could see it in the shot a lot, but he wasn't abusing him in the least.

  • @Pic6King he actually hit him a few times but as you said he was flagging the whip as well!!!!!

  • @pvw99 He didn't whip the horse til the end.... he was waving the whip for the horse to see for most of the time. Also, the weight of a human is almost nothing to a horse, to them we are like backpacks... Visit a glue factory, then get back to me on horse cruelty.

  • good race! in front for a bit! :D

  • This is scientific fact! Not some little girls "opinion" I rest my case littlel girl...good day!..."Jagar"

  • Cottontail ........ Is there anything else you would like to say? or will you stick your foot back in your mouth! Oh and I have a question for you... How much money do you donate to rescue and horse retirement programs in a single year... I thought so.........."Jagar"

  • @ausfuhrpramienjagar Learn how to use the reply button. And yes. Horses like these are WAY too young to be running like this, their knees are just closing, and it ruins them forever. Racing industry over breeds horses. Working with many rescues, you find that most horses auctioned to slaughter are "retired" race horses, whether they don't run fast enough, or are injured, it doesn't matter. Just one year of racing ruins a horse for the rest of its life.

  • @Cottontail6969 ....Just as I thought, you stuck your foot in your mouth again! And what was the amount of money you donate? It's apparent that you have been brainwashed in only seeing things one way, so, there is no sense in me responding any further. However, just so you will know, it has already been proven by a veterinarian study, that horses who start as 2yr olds, have a much longer racing career as opposed to starting as a 3yr old. So, your theory can be trashed...."Jagar"

  • @ausfuhrpramienjagar Hah! I have never heard that before. Bullshit. I don't watch videos, I get out there. I have seen too many horses thrown away.

  • @Cottontail6969 So, you think it's bullshiti huh? I would figure as much. This small paragraph was taken from the reports compiled by Dr. Larry Bramlage a leading equine vet in the U.S...."This data shows that horses that

    began racing as two-year-olds are

    much more successful, have much

    longer careers, and, by extrapolation,

    show less predisposition to injury

than horses that did not begin

    racing until their three-year-old

year" Maybe you will believe that, but probably not.

  • 11 people thinks jokeys are the zombies of l4d2

  • thats nice i want a helmet like thet the best thing on eath is felling the adrenaline on top of a horse wining a race!!=)

  • I wish they would have left the normal sound instead of music.. I want to hear the hoof beats!!

  • Laf... he hit the horse four times total... two light backhand taps near the three-sixteenths and then two love taps while glancing back when clear nearing the wire.

  • he whips the air so the horse sees the stick, dumbass! that way he doesnt have to whip the horse all the time.

instead of telling the poor jockey to stop whipping, tell your republican friends to stop betting!

  • i agree, if it was really hurting them they would hurt us back!

  • Comment removed

  • i dont know why people complain about the horse being whipped it doesnt hurt them people make it seem like it has nails and glass on it jeez

  • J'aime pas beaucoup comment les jockey cravache leur chevaux, ce n'est pas vraiment très bon pour eux, enfin sinon très belle course!

  • Stop whipping the poor thing! It can't go any faster!

  • @Cottontail6969 your a pussy

  • @Mrsaidzaid Yes, I do have one.

  • @Cottontail6969 probs a blue wuffle

  • @Mrsaidzaid What your moms is? I'm sure you would know.

  • @Cottontail6969 ur mom disses always hurt.....

  • @Mrsaidzaid They do when your mom leaves you.

  • @Cottontail6969 r u trying to be cool by rhyming or somthing, like wtf r u pulling out of ur blue waffle, when my mom leaves me..... tht one hurt even more

  • @Mrsaidzaid lol it doesn't rhyme? And I'm sure it does.

  • @Cottontail6969 they dO when your mom leaves yOU does rhyme and do u enjoy piss people or somthing, btw i was wondering did u get ur blue waffle from a horse?

  • @Cottontail6969 They dont whip them! They whip it in the air but they never whip the horse! A persen who have these type of horses know that but u dont I guess? I can understand that u think that they whip the horses but they do it in the air.

  • @ZandraBson Ha I bet you've never been with a retired racehorse, or even watched this whole video.

  • @Cottontail6969 I was riding a retired racehorse this weekend. I work with horses. So yes, I have.

  • @ZandraBson I work with rescues. Almost all Retired racehorses are sold to slaughter.

  • @Cottontail6969 thats really good of u! Keep the good work up.

  • @Cottontail6969 i do agree but most of the time the only waving iit in front of them to spur them on a bit xx

  • @shazz635 Yes, true, but he was hitting him.

  • @Cottontail6969 ...... You need to bone up on what you think you know about horse racing. The whips are foam padded and only make a popping sound that slightly scares them into running and keeping focused on the task at hand... You must be a PETA follower to make a stupid comment like that..lol. May I apologize to the horse racing world for your stupidity?.... "Jagar" (A thoroughbred racehorse owner who knows better)

  • @ausfuhrpramienjagar You ruin horses. You know nothing about horses. No, the whips are not padded! They are normal whips. I'm slightly offended that you think I support PETA, though! The horses, running that fast, would not be able to hear the 'popping' sound. The whips have nothing to do with it anyways. And I ask you, what do you do with a horse that does not run fast enough? Why don't you answer me that?

  • @Cottontail6969 ..3 weeks ago you stated that you work with rescues! Well for your information little girl, as an owner I donate a great some of money to fund your horse rescue, rehab, and adoption programs in the state of Ca. and throughout the country. A percentage of my purse money is taken out and donated to CARMA aka California Retirement Management Account......

  • @Cottontail6969 .....Which assist Thoroughbred retirement facilities that care for and retrain horses whose careers have ended after competing in California Thoroughbred races. Besides that donation I also fork out a sustantial amount of cash to "CERF" and "TCA". If you don't know what those organizations are, go look them up. And FYI....When I do have a horse that needs to be retired I will find them a good home myself or use one of the above charities....."Jagar"

  • @Cottontail6969 You're an idiot.

  • @Paulocity8 That's too bad.

  • @Cottontail6969 I think is too bad because ultimately you may actually be a valid person but you let yourself down with ridiculous comments, such as your earlier one. Whipping horses isn't to make them go faster...it is to remind them not to stop running. In terms of pain factor, it would be the equivalent of someone giving you an open handed pat on the knee, or, perhaps a telephone book upside your head for posting silly replies to youtube videos. Have a good day.

  • @Paulocity8 Haha how the fuck would you even know? And anyone whose been around horses knows it hurts. Especially on animals with such thin skin like Thoroughbreds.

  • @Cottontail6969 You're an angry person. Would you prefer thoroughbreds didn't run? They're athletes, it's what they're born to do. You know what this world doesn't need CottonTail? Fat, lazy, horses. I don't know why you hate horses being the best they can be. You're trying to oppress fitness in horses, and that's an attitude that should be outlawed.

  • @Paulocity8 You're a fuckin idiot. Horses don't get fat and lazy from not being forced to run a few MILES.

  • @Cottontail6969 Perhaps not but they don't become the best race horse they can be without a few slaps from the whip neither. You see CT, horses don't speak any human languages so this is the only way to communicate to them while racing. Also, because you and your fellow 14yr old girlfriends once rode a pony on a school excursion doesn't make you an expert in horses. Quite the opposite. Racing is a fine institution and you should get involved and start following a fantastic and exciting sport.

  • @Paulocity8 You shouldn't try to get my personal life involved. In that case, I know and care more about horses than you do, so you should just fuck right on off now.

  • @Cottontail6969 Do you like horse racing? What is an alternative to whipping a horse?

  • @Paulocity8 NO! I don't like horse racing! Overbreeding and torturing horses for entertainment is not okay.

  • @Cottontail6969 Yep. You're a PETArd. No doubt about it. Like the rest of your brethren, you are woefully misinformed and misguided. The crop is mostly used as a visual aid in races. VISUAL. As in the jockey waves it by the side of the horse's head so the horse can see it as motivation. This is often done in regular riding, too - I've done it many times. If this isn't motivating enough, the crop is then used. These horses do not come back with welts and bruises and scars. They aren't hit hard.

  • @Syncraftable Uh, no. Actually I a much anti-PETA. I hunt and fish. Why would a person who thinks animals need equal rights do that? Your comment was weak, here. You are just trying to insult me. I know, they use it as a visual aid, but they also whip them. They also overbreed them. It's not just what happens on the track that makes me anti-racing.

  • @Cottontail6969 It's not just the racing industry that overbreeds horses. The AQHA has the highest annual number of registrations of any breed - well over 100,000 per year compared to the Jockey Club's 32,000-ish. And backyard breeders, too, unregistered grade horses, what of them?

  • @Syncraftable I'm against all of it! And, the PMU it's not just racing. But in racing, not just race horses get bred, the designated mares to nurse the champion foals are bred repeatedly and their foals are thrown out. Nurse mare industry.

  • @Cottontail6969 I work at a horse farm and there are a number of horses on the farm who race - two thoroughbreds and four standardbreds, who race in harness. Not a single one has a mark on it from the use of the crop or whip. All of them are happy to do their job. If they didn't want to run, they'd put up a fight.

  • @Syncraftable Good. Sadly, it's not the same for most, now is it?

  • @Cottontail6969 It is actually the same for most. When I worked at a large TB training facility, I saw many active racehorses during training, before and after races, on layoff. I never witnessed abuse at the farm or at the track. No welts, no scars, no open, untreated wounds. Not once. This was a pretty large amount of horses, too. Abuse is the exception in TB racing, NOT the rule.

  • @Paulocity8 You know what CT? I detest bull fighting but I don't go find vids of it on YT and slam everyone who enjoys it. The sooner you start appreciating the fine art of thoroughbred racing the more happiness in life you will have. The sport of kings! Giddup!

  • @Cottontail6969 Actually, he probably is whipping him because he needs to keep up the pace so he can win, they don't make much money if they don't. And you see the crop allot more than he's using it.

  • @Sebras99 No shit

  • i absolutely found this video amazing until the end when he was whippping the horse, but still i think i might ask to use the gallops down the road and gallop my tb down there :)

  • 2 people didn't bet on that horse

  • omg, it's fast!

  • 2 people fell of that horse

  • @horsecrazypeep101 i meant u can tell so try it u will know when ur in a gallop

  • @amberleegrills Yes. I take riding lessons.

  • @amberleegrills Alright. Thanks for replying. :)

  • They go faster then they look LOL

  • He's got in first right?

    Amazing race i loved it<!!!!<3

  • This is exactly what i see when i gallop my ex racer i would love to see a horse gallop next to me but my friends horses cant keep up with my horse so im just galloping on my own all i see of the others rides are the front of them i just leave them in my dust but i would love to know someone with a racer aswell to see a horse gallop next to me i love watching horse trot and canter next to me they look beautiful and it makes me feel happy xD

  • @DMWD15 Is there a difference between a gallop and a lope/canter?

  • @horsecrazypeep101 u never galloped ? or u asking me something stupid xD u cand deffo tell when ur in a gallop a canter is what u can sit to if u try to sit to a gallop its quite hard and the strides are really quick my ex racer has a wide stride so a canter is smooth and a gallop bumpy xD plus they really stretch their neck out when they gallop but i can tell the difference between canter and gallop

  • @DMWD15 It's a shame really. As much as I love horses, my knowledge of them is lacking. LOL! I guess you could call it a stupid question. The fastest I've ever gone is a canter. Granted the lesson horse I ride is a lazy one named Fudge. I don't think I could ever get him into a gallop. It's a miracle just to get him to even lope!

  • @horsecrazypeep101 well its surprising how a horses attitude can change my cob can be slugish but when he sees a straight he gets excited but Fudge would proberly gallop with another horse its in the blood to run with other horses and to be the fastest u will just have to see how long have you been riding ?? i started riding when i was 8, galloped when i was 13 and had my TB for a year and now im 16 and love galloping but a tip dont panic in a gallop just relax you'll get the swing of it :)

  • bad song"""

  • that was cool!

  • What is the amazing song of the race???
