  • do you have any vids on how to fix your headphone jack on a curve 8900

  • woah! 50$ for a new case? thats expensive, i get it here for 16.28$ here, ofcourse its fake and manufactured locally but its cheap and it fits, your being ripped off dude

  • Awesome thanks! I wanna change the bezel, chrome looks kinda tacky >;3

  • nice video, but how do you remove the white antenna at the bottom.. does anybody know how or could direct me to a link thanks

  • Packman

  • thanks alot for this tutorial :)

  • do you need to remove the antenna to take off the screen?

  • @snoopzakadave yeah u doo need to take the antenna off to take the sctreen off

  • I've had to do this repair a few times, because my trackball is always getting stuck. Every few months I open it up and clean out the lint or whatever else is jamming it.

This weekend I did it and when I put it back together, I was getting an "Insert SIM Card" error. Tried a lot of things trying to get it working again.

My SIM works in a friend's BB and hers does not work in mine. I tried a full reinstall of the OS and that doesn't change anything.

Not really sure what has happened or why

  • - Ok, I have fixed it now. I had put the black screws where the silver ones go, and vice versa. Either the silver screws were causing some sort of electrical problem with the SIM card, or the device wasn't being closed tightly enough to make contact. Either way, make sure you put the right screws in the right place!

Meanwhile, I can't wait to get a non-trackball device so that I don't have to take it apart to clean so often!

  • @TehBestEvar416 hate to say it, or to sound stupid, but try dropping it on a dining room table or whatever, not from a huge height, you'll be fine! It re-jiggled something around in mine and made it work again, worth a shot!

  • UTILIZE TU VIDEO PARA REPARAR MI 9800 ERES EL MEJOR !!

  • orderd my new faceplate , definietly using this video for my take apart thankyou so much!

  • many thanks mate

  • my trackball is on its way. i will definietly be using your video as a guide

  • thank you so much!

  • some "rain" dropped on my phone. nothing is working except the screen. but after 15 mins. neither the screen nor the keyboard is working. the screen only showing a white light and when someone call me my phone is still ringing. Any ideas to help?

  • @kunabood you need a new lcd mate

  • Is it mini T6 screwdriver? or the normal one? cuz I found on the website u mentioned two kinds of t6 screwdriver. thanks

  • this is so accurate, i advise you give your phine a good clean while the phone is apart.

  • Thanks, made it very easy.

  • Thanks for the instruction man!

I have a small question: Is there a certain orientation to put the trackball back in there? I ordered another color for replacement and I was just wondering on advance. :) Thanks!

  • how do you tell what type of screen you have??

  • how easy was it to transfer the mute/lock?? i bought a black bezel and its on its way ;)

  • Hello!

I've got a question. Some coffee dropped over my BB's keyboard.

The phone still works, but the keyboard is out of order. Nothing happens when I want to use it.

Do you think your method will help me to clean the blackberry with pure alcohol?

And what do I have to clean exactly?

Thank you for helping and excuse my bad english, i'm not from an englishspeaking country! :)

  • @graninata Really gooodd englishh bro .

  • what can i do to fix my buttons if they dont work

  • you were playing PACMAN!!!!!

  • do you know how, or where to get the lock button fixed?

  • yes! i did that and now the sand has gone from my jave,,

    thank you!

  • PAC MAN :D

  • thank you so much.

  • Great video, used the video before to replace just the trackball, so I skipped through most of the other details, I then tried to replace my whole bezel and casing, and ran into several problems. But your tutorial sorted two out of three out. I'd like to make a note to people that the silver antenna he points out on the bottom, needs to be carefully removed and placed on a new case, in the same position, otherwise the antenna will be veryweak, and barely pick up any signal at all. Great video :)

  • my sound dont work

    help

  • my sound dont work

  • @cashmank You must remove the speaker from the top part (where the camera slots in) of the old casing. The new casing has no flash or speaker embedded.

  • Thanks bro

    good vid

  • This was an absolute lifesaver! My 8900 is past its warranty, but my trackball was dead. I ordered a new one for $10; bought and T6 Torx screwdriver for $3. I watched this all the way through once, then started it again and went to work, pausing where necessary. It only took my 10 minutes and PRESTO! I have a fully functioning Blackberry 8900 again. Thank you so much!

  • i hear Pacman Game

  • Hi, I was just wondering where you order the disassembly tools for taking it apart. Could you please give me the link if possible? Thanks.

  • Is it possible to replace the board underneath the keypad (attached to the phone portion)? The spacebar on my 8900 is tempermental. Im confident its not the keyboard because you don't feel that solid click like with the rest of the buttons when you press the spacebar now.

  • hey man nice review .i have a blackberry 8900 and i have a problem with headphone jack (3,5 mm) when i atach headset the music play but makes a strong ringing .is not problem with headphones cuz i put them to another phone and works perfectly.waiting for reply have a nice day

  • Hey. Where do you think is the best place to find housing online?

  • thanks man this helped me alot

  • Thank you so much.. You help me!

  • Did this and now I can't hear anything out of my speakers. Any ideas?

  • @bigDheng same for me, what did i do wrong?

  • do you have to use the small magnet under the ball as mine has fell out?

  • Is there any case that gives the appeal of housing, and covers the whole phone and makes the keyboard work?

  • @MoniClaude4LIFE otter box

  • Thanks man!!!!!!!!!! You really helped me out, I appreciate it.

  • changed lcd but sound has gone except when use earphones

  • My trackball scrolls around, but it will not do any return (enter) function. I've replaced it with a new trackball unit, same problem. What could be the problem here? Help!

  • @earl2076 so it doesnt click? doesnt select anything? that might be because of water damage

  • @garoofiya Most likely water damaged. I waited weeks hoping it would dry out--alcohol and rice drying. I also realized I had to "knock" the corner of the BB8900 against the table and somehow keyboard re-aligned? I'm puzzled, not too many moving parts below the keyboard Now, the keyboard works, no more anomalous letters popping up, and the trackball doesn't skip anymore. I wish I could fix the darkened screen since and the unreliable WiFi connection.

  • Thanks this helped a lot. Just finished changing my bb's bazel and trackball.

  • Comment removed

  • Hi, please can you tell me if it is possible to separe keyboard and keypad cover ?

Because i want to change my keypad cover but keep the origine keyboard.

    Thanks you in advance.

  • I dropped some juice on my 8900 now my keyboard and trackball don't work. I was told a new keyboard would fix it but the keyboard does not have a circuit board inside so how does juice ruin it?? Do you think it will fit it??

  • @3000gtgomez7 that means your BB is water damaged, take out the battery and SIM card and leave it to dry completely in a bowl of uncooked rice for 3-5 days before trying to turn it on again..it should work perfectly after that. A new keyboard will do nothing for it.

  • Great tut but now for some reason it says "insert sim card" when it is already in.......:/

  • como se despega la camara del bezel???

  • Great video, just a quick question.

Taking the stickers off for the mute and lock button seem impossible, any trick?

Also, the inside of your black bezel at the top you have some gold things whereas the bezel I have does not have it, any idea about this?

  • @mistryy basically what you need to do is, on your old bezel you get the tool that can scoop, you do that under the gold things till they are both not stuck to the bexzel then peel the top bit and it all comes off together, then you sstick that onto your new bezel on the top bit and hey preto

  • just watched the video and followed it to the letter, bought a new white case for my 8900 curve off ebay and it looks incredible

    quality video thanks

  • That was nicely demonstrated.

Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing this useful video.

  • Are there any water/liquid damage indicators inside the 8900? And if there are, how many are there and where are they located exactly? According to T-mobile, there's 5 of them. I'm w/ Rogers so I'm not sure if they have them as well -- been hearing different things.

  • 0:22 IT WAS PACMAN U DUMBASS

  • my trackball stops responding sometimes can i just take it off and clean it? or do i have to order a new one?

if so where can i order the parts

  • I hear IvAp disconnected back there?

  • Thanks for the tutorial!

  • Thank u

  • Dude, Many thanks for your help, you saved me from wrecking my BB =)

  • You sure did a good job showing how to do this.. I have a new (mat black velvetty) cover I want to put on and when I have the T-6 screw driver I will do it! Thanks! -Jeanine

  • lol is that someone playing pac man in the background?

  • whats the blue thing you used at about 1:05

  • is there a high chance of damaging the phone?

Im generally pretty good with stuff like this

but im scared I might break something and the warranty would void

  • Just replaced my trackball! I like the all black look. That might be the next project

  • PACCCMANNNNN

  • Great tutorial help me a lot thanks.

  • Hello were did yu get dat housing from

  • Where did you buy your housing at?

  • hey i need a bb 8900 motherboard can anyone help me out i would pay $55

  • thanks a lot, great tutorial

  • Okay, I've done everything successfully, except the back cover now is slightly [unnoticeably though] loose now. Like it's popping out and isn't sticking solidly at the back. HELP!!

  • Hi Clinton from here in the UK. Many thanks for your tutorial...it saved me a lot of cash! Any work carried out on a Cellphone here in the UK costs around $80 for labour...before you even find out what the problem is. Using your tutorial, I managed to change my trackball & bezel....thanks again!

  • Thank you very much, Mr Roche.

    Excellent tutorial

Saved me a lot of stress AND money!

  • Thanks! finally blacked out my phone after I had been meaning to do it for a year.

  • hey where did you the parts? i want ones that look like yurs dont trust the oens on ebay..

  • This was the clearest work thru ever. I followed every step and now have a new "functioning" trackball and keypad. Even a total technophobe like me can do it! Thanks. You're saving people money, time and hassle and making them feel good too. Not bad for a days work!

  • to continue from up top:

either way, this vid was awesome. my trackball stopped working (pulling the screen down) yesterday, so i used the powers bestowed upon me by the interwebs and gots to radio shack. i don't work for radio shack or nothin' but i gotta say that this 11-in-1 pop-up racheting screwdriver i bought was worth the investment. 11 tips, and they all store in the handle. made this job (and i'm sure future electronic tasks) wicked easy...

    thanx clinton. thanx a ton.

  • What are those "things" at 4:45? My keyboard doesn't work, this past weekend my phone was dropped in a puddle and my phone first worked, but then the keyboard randomly started to not work so I think the problem is the keyboard. Would those things be the culprit?

  • just did it today using this vid as a reference Thanks!

  • ok i'm hoping you can help. i followed this fantastic tutorial. was able to replace the trackball, put it all back together, and the screen never lit up. i've got a flashing red light, and i heard a text tone, and the keyboard is lit up. i took it apart a second time to see if i messed anything up, and everything is where it should be. could i have just killed my screen just by replacing the trackball?

  • Great tutorial, everything fits back nicely

  • ive successfully removed the top and middle screws, but my driver wont fit the bottom screws as perfect as the tops and mids. i cant unscrew the ones in the bottom. any help would be appreciated...

  • sorry. no solutions here, but it sounds like they're seized (very unlikely, unless there was a cola spill or something. even then, very unlikely) or stripped. if you've never done this before, that shouldn't be the case tho. try a T7 maybe?

  • oh my gosh!!! i just spent nearly 2hours (and half a bottle of wine) looking for your video! yes you can literally peel off the contacts, but as he says (i nearly learned the hard way so ill reiterate) the white contacts on the top and gold ones on the inside for the mute/standby and the lock keypad buttons are connected in pairs, so when you get one off dont pull it fully off incase you rip the connection hip hip hurray for brand new housing!!!

  • I will try this as soon as i get my 8900. I ordered one today and i plan on changing to the black bezel asap. Hopefully i dont mess anything up lol

  • Great video, even though I didn't find what I was looking for, I found out why my mute and lock button wasn't working. Thanks a lot

  • come on guys u can find any part on ebay

  • I am the unluckiest person in the world. Everything went well. Replaced the trackball. (little problem with the alignment but I think I got it right) re-assembled and now the power light comes on for about a minute but it never boots. :(( Any ideas??

  • @simok57 if you a memory card in there, try taking it out, and booting up, it may work

  • were can i buy a trackball only?? were do u buy parts seperately?

  • Thank you for making this video.. has been so helpful

  • hey man, on the original bezel, when u were talking about the two stickers on the top and the two silver contacts, do i have to peel all 4 stickers or whatever off, and put them on the new bezel? does it matter where i place them as long as there close? please and thank you.

  • Lots of people have... look at the number of views!!

  • off course they will...trackballs get damaged very soon, and it is not pretty difficult to disassemble and replace it.......I have done 2 times on my BB

  • @brandork22 dude, you gotta do that to change the trackball..

  • @brandork22 obviously people need to know how to do this if the wanna change the fascia on the blackberry u idiot

  • @NATASHALOUISE100 okay whatever. idc, if that occured to mine i would just buy a fucking new one, u idiot!

  • @brandork22 WOW! That was just retarded.

  • @brandork22 im doing that to my bb riggght now

  • @brandork22 yep

  • Does the top plate sticks on the BB? i've heard from someone that I need to mold it on the bezel. Can you confirm that?

    Thanks

  • Nope it screws right in... on the 9700 you have to melt some parts

  • @clintonroche What do you mean by melt? What do you have to melt?

  • i f**k me tackball any one no were i can et one from ???

  • if i take out the red warranty sticker and then put it back, will my cellphone company know I opened the phone and "voided my warranty"?

  • Depends on how good of a job you do removing and replacing it. I would just assume that you will void the warranty if you do this procedure.

  • Hi. Im hoping you know the answer for this question. Is there a way to test the antenna. Im just curious cause I've really bas reception ever since I dropped my phone. TIA

  • could i do this to repair buttons from water damage??

  • Ohh thankss. Just before i was trying to open my bb to replace my keyboard...But i didnt have the srewdriver..

I already damage the side of it..But know i know i can stop trying I love internet/youtube! Thankss

  • You can purchase the T6 screwdriver from 'Maplin' if you're in the UK.

  • You can win BlackBerry Bold at Gifter7(.)com. It's your lucky day! fantastic video...

  • its a T6 screw driver home depot Frys

  • what kind of screw driver is it?

does anyone know where i can buy the tools?

  • I'm using my husbands profile here, as I dont have one...

Saved my life here! Trackball screwed up for the fourth time and wasn't about to go about exchanging the phone *again*. Data transfer is a major hassle, and then there's all the settings. Changed trackball, cleaned keyboard (sorted out the missing letters problem) and changed facia for plain black one as the silver edge looks mank once chipped.

    Thank you again! Fabulous.

    cheers dude

  • you can get a torx screw driver set at any auto parts shop or any place that sells tools or probably your local hardware store. no need to order online

  • Hey clintonroche, good video. I would like to know how you go about changing the midplate(transferring flash, camera, foam, etc to the new midplate). i would be grateful if you can PM me or even make a new video showing this. please and thanks!

  • I really have no idea. I dont have this phone anymore or I could take it apart and try.

    Sorry dude :(

  • You Are Nice And Cute !

  • nice and cute? how the fuck are u gonna a marine telling guys they are cute? man up dude man the fuck up

  • thanxxx great vid !!!

  • Worked perfectly! Thank you for posting such a clear tutorial. I've now changed my scabby original bezel for a black one - only took 20 minutes. No problems with peeling off the contacts with a pen-knife and resticking them.

  • im scared to do change my bezel because im scared that i wont be able to change the lock and mute things at the top. could make a video showing how to do that please?

  • dont worry, its not difficult. I was skeptical too, but i did it with no trouble whatsoever.

    good luck

  • I have successfully manage to change my keybord, trackball and bezel. Thanks!

  • what's the blue tool you use?

  • It is a phone opener tool... you can get them cheap on Ebay :)

  • Comment removed

  • are there any additional Liquid damage indicators hidden anywhere on the phone other than the one in the battery compartment?

  • None that I know of.....but you never know.

  • I Just Swap My Silver Bezel To the Black One..It took me 2hours...The Only Hard Part is switching the contact buttons and the foam parts..IT WAS FUn!!!

  • Glad you enjoyed it :)

  • awesome...thank u so much for the tutorial. my 8900 is now even smexier than it was before ^_^

  • hi,

any chance u cud show how to remove/restick the top button things?

    thanks

  • when changing fascias do you have to transfer the contacts from the original cover, or do the new covers come already with contacts?

  • I had a prob with my curve 8900 keyboard after dropping the phone in a cup of tea. After it was dried out the text buttons were creating a b letter when pressed. If you get this, very carefully peal the white plastic button pad back (it is like a sticky label which creates the buttons and clean the button contacts. Do not peal back to far as the buttons short ciruiting are likely to be around the edge. Once clean (I used a LCD tv cleaning fluid and a ear bud)

  • the blue tool is called a spudger

  • what is the blue tool you used?

  • nicee vid clint...helped me clean out my trackball...

add me on the crack... rolf90

  • Hi, where do you recomend to buy the trackball and bezel from?

  • Hey man!?! Shire genius leaving the fact that the contacts from the original bezel have to be utilized to access the mute and locking functions with the new one until your step by step is complete! You owe me 15 minutes of my life back dummy. Shall I post an instructional vid explaining how to hotwire an '02 Beemer, all the way to the point you are joyring. And then explain that's the Lo-Jack was installed. LOL. IDIOT. Stick to what you know pal.

  • hahahaha... thanks for your kind words...

  • Oh yeah..... and BTW I did explain the issue with the contacts and how to transfer them to the new phone. So have a great day.

  • where did you get 15 minutes from

  • The Curve looks way sexy with the black bezel. Black is beautiful, baby.
