I've never owned a Dodge truck. I've owned several Fords and Chevys in the past, but always went to Chevy for power and mileage, but Ford has their poop in a group now with power and mileage. I currently own a Chevy, but I may go back to Ford with my next truck. If Chevy don't get their crap together I will. Our kids are almost all grown and out of the house, so I told the wife I was going to keep my Chevy and trade her mini van off for a Ford F150 Supercrew.

@rzrdwt08 nah i build ford gm and dodge motors all around the same price, ford 4.6l 5.4l and the 5.0l and 6.2l cost a little more because they use over head cams, but other then that not much more. oh and here soon gm is switching there V8s over to over head cams also and a smaller bore with direct injection. finally gm has tooking a look at the quality and performance what ford did to there modular engines.
it was closer than I expected, and I would expect there is a bit of a price gap between a bighorn ram and a harley truck. I'll be getting my ram sport next week, at 15k + less than the harley and I'll love it.
the ram still has more horsepower per liter; 68.4 hp/liter for the 5.7 hemi and 66.2 hp/liter for the 6.2 in the ford. ford sucks, the only way they can beat the ram in horsepower is to increase displacement size. chrysler also has the 6.1 hemi with 425 hp, which is less displacement than the ford and more horsepower. @10challengerMopar they are using torquey truck cams because this is a work truck engine designed for towing. The one in the raptor and if it ever gets used in a sports car makes more power.

A Dodge or Chevy with the same rear end gears or the lowest available, which makes a huge difference if you don't know even in the same truck and engine combos within the same manufacturer, will beat any ford, toyota, or nissan. You know whats funny is ford just now is catching up, even though most of the 6.7 diesels up here in ND have broken within the first 10,000 miles, and I'm talking transmission blowing up and such, not minor problems.

Its actually a mod motor design block, bigger bores and bore spacing, 2 valve head. Guess you could call it the "new" big block. Supposedly it can be overbored to 427 cubes. Ford internally calls it the boss. One wonders if SVT will next come out with 3 valve heads.. @mallow399 the f150 weighs about 2-300 lb more. The f150 is a heavier duty truck with a heavier frame. The engine itself weighs more. And u may have had some problems, but the numbers show, dodge has twice the problems. Never had a problem with my fords.

Motor Trend tested a Ram 2500 Hemi, F250 with 6.2 and Chevy 2500 6.0. I dont remember the times but the Ford was the slowest and the Hemi was the fastest!

I took the time to look up the specifications for BOTH trucks on THEIR own manufacturer's website..the results? The curb weight for the F-150 Harley Davidson edition w/ RWD is 5,777 & 6,052 for the AWD. The payload capacity for the RWD is 1,410 & 1,230 for the AWD. The MAX TOWING for both, the RWD & AWD model is 9,300lbs. (6-speed tranny)

I'll gladly race this guy (or anyone with this truck) in my '09 HEMI Ram. I, myself, also have a Big Horn edition. The upgrades I have done to it are an AFE throttle body spacer & an MXP Airaid intake that puts the truck right around the 415-420h.p. mark. Currently, my best 0-60 time is 5.2 seconds. (Tires warm) My worst? (Tires cold) 6.3- not too bad.
@TheLq4chevelle I raced a 6.2L AWD Cadillac in my HEMI and smoked him by 3 cars everytime. So if the ford 6.2L stomps a new HEMI the Chevy 6.2L doesnt stand a chance. And i guess it was kind of unfair since my 03 HEMI is a single cab shortbed and the caddy was an escalade.. but come on, an AWD 400+HP truck should beat a stock 03 hemi.

That was kind of funny. Though I'm actually surprised that the HD version doesn't offer a supercharged variant of whichever choice motor...not saying I'm complaining but that's a lot of the reason why people bought the HD was because it was a four door version of the Lightning

I've never owned a Dodge truck. I've owned several Fords and Chevys in the past, but always went to Chevy for power and mileage, but Ford has their poop in a group now with power and mileage. I currently own a Chevy, but I may go back to Ford with my next truck. If Chevy don't get their crap together I will. Our kids are almost all grown and out of the house, so I told the wife I was going to keep my Chevy and trade her mini van off for a Ford F150 Supercrew.

the ram still has more horsepower per liter; 68.4 hp/liter for the 5.7 hemi and 66.2 hp/liter for the 6.2 in the ford. ford sucks, the only way they can beat the ram in horsepower is to increase displacement size. chrysler also has the 6.1 hemi with 425 hp, which is less displacement than the ford and more horsepower. A Dodge or Chevy with the same rear end gears or the lowest available, which makes a huge difference if you don't know even in the same truck and engine combos within the same manufacturer, will beat any ford, toyota, or nissan. Its actually a mod motor design block, bigger bores and bore spacing, 2 valve head. Guess you could call it the "new" big block. Supposedly it can be overbored to 427 cubes. Ford internally calls it the boss. One wonders if SVT will next come out with 3 valve heads.. The 5.7L Hemi is based on an engine design now 9 years old, and has a 33 cubic inch displacement disadvantage! I know you Ford guys have waited a long time for this, so I won't be too harsh... I do like the fact that Ford has "taken ownership" of their engines now (especially the diesel) and believe they are finally on the right track - better late than never!

Dodge has no problems with their transmissions or rear end anymore. Why do you think they've been using the same one for almost ten years? Because it works and you don't mess with a good thing. I took the time to look up the specifications for BOTH trucks on THEIR own manufacturer's website..the results? The curb weight for the F-150 Harley Davidson edition w/ RWD is 5,777 & 6,052 for the AWD. The payload capacity for the RWD is 1,410 & 1,230 for the AWD. The MAX TOWING for both, the RWD & AWD model is 9,300lbs. (6-speed tranny)

I'll gladly race this guy (or anyone with this truck) in my '09 HEMI Ram. I, myself, also have a Big Horn edition. The upgrades I have done to it are an AFE throttle body spacer & an MXP Airaid intake that puts the truck right around the 415-420h.p. mark. Currently, my best 0-60 time is 5.2 seconds. (Tires warm) My worst? (Tires cold) 6.3- not too bad.
