That was perfect driving. You didn't go too fast that thew water came up over the hood and kept a wave in front of you. Keeps the water from getting into the intakes. Sweet road tho, wish I had something similar by me. Question though. Did any water get into the cab of the jk during this?
@BajaHeat- I extended my rear axle breather tube to passenger side tail light housing. If I get in water that deep then I'll have bigger problems than water in the axles.
damn that was good atleast it was fresh water, if it was salt my comment would be different lol, the wrangler has got to be the most extreme looking 4x4 made, i just need chrysler to made a 4 or 6 cylinder diesel then i'll buy one, which actually they are going to have within the next 2 years finally
@Brendon00000 well by 2016 all gasoline powered cars and trucks will need to be direct injected for emissions. even better, direct injected means torque and hp improvements. i wouldnt doubt that the new pentastar is scrapped for something smaller with gdi ( gasoline direct injection ) or a turbo? as with anything new, it will always improve.....mostly
Great video!!! I love that you ran the road and filmed the whole time. Im in Jeep sales and modification. As stock the Jk axle breathers and trans do not reach the engine compartment. They only go to the top of the shock mount. Go to your axles and follow your vent tube. I really hope you drained those rears. In my 1st 3 jks I always extended mine. I now have a 2012 . Those lines do sit on top of the motor/intake. Im not bashing you I love the video! Thanks for posting this.
@mikeg576 I actually have since extended my breathers to the rear tail light and to just above the brake booster. I also put fresh fluid in accordance with my 30k mile maintenance plan.
Well ken, I didn't know if the road was washed out or not but I have been driving this road for 15 years now and it's never been washed out even after being under this much water before. I feel ya on the drowning thing, but the water was less than chest deep and I consider myself to be a decent swimmer, certainly capable to treading water. Hydrolocking didn't even cross my mind since I had been in and out of that water a million times without a hitch. My bigger concern was brake fade.
Someone drowned out here this year going down a road that was covered with water. They came to a section that was washed out. Of course they couldn't see that it was as it was under the water. Their vehicle rolled in the water and they drowned.
How did you know a section of the road was not eroded?
As well as your lost life, your engine would have to be replaced if that water got in the air intake...
Did any of these concerns worry you at the time or after?

very nice, dont understand how you never got water in the intake, at the 30 odd second mark you can see the water coming out the side of the bonnet, at 2.45 its just crazy, glad you didnt get stuck out there, i have 4dr 6spd diesel 2009 dont think i would have tried it,
You were going mighty fast in that water. Very lucky you did not hydrolock your engine. Id also check your trans, tcase, and axles for water seeing that the breather lines are under water. Other than that sweet video!
Breather lines are all up high in the tub/engine bay. I've taken my TJ through water slightly deeper, (about 2.5 feet) and no water got in the diffs, intake, tcase or trans.
if i were u id check ur diff and tranny fluid, your breathers are definatly underwater in this vid which mean water in diffs, i just extended my rear diff breather into the passenger taillight and the tranny and front diff breather into the engine compartment, u should prolly do the same
I wish that happened over here, only time i ever experianced flooding like this was when i went to NY and was by the coast. the ocean had flooded the sea road.
The fan didn't die and I have put many more miles on the jeep and it still doesn't have any problems. The video was shot in November so the water was chilled.
Any input on how to send the video to Chrysler?? I'll do it if I can get ahold of them.
@kswyg I would sent it to Jeep on Twitter or Facebook...or you can send it to gualberto.ranieri@chrysler.com, he supposedly answers to the CEO of Jeep.
Damn!! I thought that was a river and was thinking..why is that guy driving down a river?? Then I read your description that it was a road. The sign you passed was classic!! Unbelievable how much water there was. Very impressive!
These are very capable machines. The only water in the cab was the damp carpet, I had some water seep in and get the carpet under the front seats wet.
@millfire517- stock air box with a k&n filter. i pulled my filter after making the pass multiple times and there was never any water on the filter or hanging around in the bottom of the box.

I love the video by the way, it is very relaxing for some reason. :)
