  • You see what a WASTE this program is? My Alcoholic, Crack Head neighbors, who are Already on EVERY kind of Gov’t Handout could’ve used a NICE, BIG CLUNKER to Drive around in so They’d be SAFE when they run into something. I’m SURPRISED the Pres. Didn’t think of this; These are His “Peeps”.

  • @OpinionatedOldFart dont blame the program haha nobody forced the idiots to trade in their perfectly good cars and trucks in for gay priuses. its call cash for CLUNKERS, most were not clunkers at all. i saw a perfect 05 eddie baurer explorer get smashed for no reason. pretty sad that people here are this stupid.

  • gmc sierra/ suburban or chevy silverado/ suburban in the later 90s'

  • Not even close. It's a GMC Jimmy/Chevy Blazer in it's early-mid 90's

  • what make/model was that?

  • It was a 1994 GMC Jimmy. It had just over 240,000 miles on it but it seemed like it was in pretty decent shape. I would have driven it.

  • ya but thats a reasonable clunker.

I hate it when these ass holes took really nice cars with low mileage just to make a statement. There were tones of vehicles traded in like a 2006 Roush Mustang or 120+ Corvettes etc. Really nice cars worth 4-5x as much or more. Then go buy a shitty Prius that will be worthless when the batteries go bad in 6-7 years.

  • A reasonable clunker? The whole point of the CARS (cash for clunkers) program was to get rid of the gas guzzling, old, and sometimes shitty vehicles. The GMC Jimmy had a 4.3L V6 and got 15 city/22 highway. So it's by no means a reasonable clunker.

  • Ya but those Jimmys cost more to keep up then they are worth when they get that kinda millage.

Personally I think the government should have just auctioned all the cars off. Alot of people would have got good used cheap cars and the government would have recovered some if not all of the money. Its just retarded destroying good vehicles.

I mean heck something like that a student could get for $500 or a poor family and get by for a year or so before something major goes.

  • @sidewayznut2009 are you serious a 2006 Roush Mustang!

  • @sega88100 yep someone trying to make a statement or maybe a bitch of a wife who knows but this was the worst program ever. it could have been a $4.500 tax rebate to anyone buying a car that does 30+ that would have made alot more since.

  • @ferretbri It sounds like the engine is locked. Did you get rid of it?

  • How tough is that liquid glass? I wouldn't think it could stop you from breaking it free. My uncle traded in an old pickup but pulled the 440 that was in it first and setup a small electric motor hooked to the axle and traded it in that way so he could keep the engine and transmission yet still keep it drivable and eligible.

  • An engine runs because the crankshaft doesnt actually touch the bearings, it rides on a thin film of oil. If you take away the oil and the metal touches, it quickly grinds and melts the parts to one another. Silicate just accelerates the process.
