@skyarsalan Unless you have an unhealthy bird needing to visit the vet often, the care involved is more in the time and patience areas, rather than monetary....unless your bird is prone to escaping and destroying your house causing you to have to replace stuff often, which then you've got other problems besides a destructive bird (someone's super bored).

you can take her into a darkened room (their eyes arent as good) and start handling them there, get them used to being touched, I did this with my IRN and he got used to it..i would slowly open the door to let more light in and he could see my hand on him....gotta watch the beak tho lol

I would consider partisaning your house if you want a bird that badly, also if the cat is old that can be a factor. For me, I had a roommate for a while with all my birds and the solution was that we would put up a barrier to the living area where the birds were kept sometimes and the cat would stay away as that was off limits. You could also always wait, until Blue passes on to get a bird so your attention isn't divided between pets.

Cockatoos are NOISY, DESTRUCTIVE, and LOUD.

That said, they are also loving, (usually) sweet, cuddle monsters. Cockatoos I believe are one of the most rehomed bird species out there because people buy this adorable baby Too and then after a few years when it grows up the Too gets rehomed. I also have a friend, who's Too got out of his cage, and killed all 12 of his Quakers and Tiels. Some Toos don't like to share... If you're still sure you want one, then press on =) They are lovely... but

Little birds in the house with a bigger bird can be a dangerous combination make sure that you have adequate locks on your cages. Cockatiels, are not really much of a gateway to owning a bigger demanding bird that needs a great deal of mental stimulation to avoid feather plucking, screaming and the like. They also seem to be poster children for the disease PFBD. There are some wonderful too's out there it's true, they are a Full time commitment, you can't just leave them in their cage and go out
