The number and placement of progression holes (and stroke of the accelerator pump) is implicit in the designator stamped on the casting. A 40 DCOE-18 is NOT the same as a 40 DCOE-2. Owners purchasing the wrong DCOE for their engine and state-of-tune is the primary reason why DCOEs are often maligned. Get it right and you'll wonder why all the fuss. John's machining is an effort to make a poorly selected DCOE work.
Nice work, most 16 valve engines prefer to run with an extra progression hole just off idle, (4 progression holes instead of 3) they are called dcoe 152G and zetec engines prefer 5 holes.
The progression holes let more fuel to be sucked into the engine on slight throttle openings to remove a flat spot, when the throttle is opened past all of the holes the main jet takes over.
When he says "Call me" with questions, he means it. I called him on welding aluminum cylinder heads n we talked it up for half an hour. Great person. Very knowledgeable.
I wan to see some one talking about pressurize 45 DCOE for blow trough turbo application.Let me know at orlando3tc1.8@gmail.com
