True Christians have been a small group throughout the ages. Constantine was not a true Christian but the beginning of the Apostate system which Christ will crush at his return. There has always been a small group of true believers, you just need to search it out and you will find it. Constantine is in the book of revelation.Seek it out you will find it. True believers have the key.
One thing about this documentary is true...the real spread of christian religion and christianisation of the Roman world begins during Constantine's regime as an emperor...if Jesus Christ was the founder of the religion and apostle Paul the theoretical teacher of it's faith and believes, Constantine is the establisher of the religion in practice...
@lapislazuli248 not just in "practice", before Constantine Christian beliefs weren't firmly laid down for the entire faith, he changed that in 325AD with the Nicene Creed
@255ad Τhe works of the Christians of the first 3 centuries (Ignatius, Hippolytus, Justin, Athenagoras, Irenaeus, Tertullian) agree that Christians had a strictly defined faith long before Constantine (trinity, divinity of Jesus, existence of special priesthood-clergy etc). Only a fanatic or ignorant can doubt that.
The synods just expressed in official expressions what the Church already believed in. The Church & its beliefs existed even before the writing of the New Testament (1st cent AD).
@Lhein33 "agree that Christians had a strictly defined faith long before Constantine" I'm really really ignorant on this subject, but based on the little I've been told as I understand it it was generally agreed but not "strictly defined" what a Christian was, that was the point of the Nicene Creed to specifically define what beliefs some one had to have to truthfully call them self a Christian
@255ad I'm pretty sure that the ancient christian works suggest that the dipole orthodoxy (right faith) vs heresy existed since the time of the apostles. Eg John & Paul warn Christians to be careful when sb preaches sth different than the gospel, Ireneaus (2nd cent) wrote Adversus Haereses etc.
The Synods were occasional events, they took place only when a heresy arose first; they didn't intend to write a christian manifest/charter. The Church experiences its faith even before its recording.
@Lhein33 " The Church experiences its faith even before its recording. "
That is precisely what makes it vulnerable to distortion over time. And in the time of Constantine they realize that there is so much heresy that the emperor is needed to act. And that's basically the beginning of Christian inquisition and the eclipse of non-Christianity in the west.
Watching this reminds me of what happened when Vladimir 1 forced Kyivan Rus to convert to Christianity. Christianity is the most disrespectful and slave-full religion on the planet.
He was hanged just so you know, for apparently raising rebellions among the barbarians... Take what you will, humanity is and always will be vivacious and determined to win.
Sadly Constantine never truly believes in Jesus Christ. To him Christianity is nothing but a political tool to reign over the Empire. Christianity is ALWAYS nothing else but a tool, from Clovis to Pepin the Short, from Urbanus the second to the crusaders. Even today, NOTHING else but a TOOL.
So obvious at the end that christian faith of his was just all a lie to manipulate the people. There is no forgiveness the act of a forgiving christian god ruler is a lie.
And THIS is why GOD turns his back on the church. What is built upon deception and cruelty is doomed to die with deception and cruelty. The Catholic (i.e. Roman church)
is a continuation of the Roman Empire hidden by guise of a church. This from a Catholic that see's the light. "What is created from love, can not be destroyed by the Creator or by hand servants of the Creator." Mankind does fail so many ways.
Scholars still argue as to whether Constantine received baptism to accrue political power or whether he really believed in it. Constantine was no fool as many in his army were already turning to Christianity and he had to become one to continue to lead. Then again, maybe he was a believer in the end. Too bad he is not well known among Christians.
@Categorycinque most Christians are ignorant about their faith, most everybody is ignorant about a lot of things they really should know before forming an opinion on an entire range of subjects
Good job BBC on getting the facts wrong again. It's funny how they tried to make Constantine look like an ass. It's funny that the BBC forgot to mention why Constintane had Licinius kiled. The guy was trying to recruit barbarians to fight for him and once again start up a war.. DON'T TRUST THE BBC.. THEY HATE CHRISTIANS AND WILL LIE LEAVE OUT IMPORTANT FACTS
@MissedTheMark All Emperors did that, Foederati or barbarian auxiliaries were very common, but in the later centuries they rose to greater precedence, especially after the Romans killed each other in civil war after civil war they needed more manpower and the barbarians were ther best source. There was even a Frankish chieftain who was there at Constantine's proclamation
Funny how the Roman Empire fell soon after Christianity took place within the empire.
And about 1000 years of religious intolerance and discord took place as well just because there was a lust for power amongst emperors and kings. It is easy to rule with absolute authority with only one god.
@Galather0 It's also easy to kill 40 million people when you believe there is no god holding you accountable.. Just say thanks to your buddy Joseph Stalin, the biggest reason why Atheism sucks.. Killed more people in one lifetime than all religions combined.
Atheism is not a religion, although some atheists kill they don't do it in the name of atheism. In general, from my studies, I've noticed that most of the grande wars and massacre that we know of were fuel by both secular and theistic reasons.
Overall though, I feel that superstitions like religion are preventing human progress and lead to division. As a species we would have progressed further by now had it not been for religion blocking scientific discovery
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn Atheists kill because they look at human life as animals. Atheism is by far, responsible for the most murders in the world. Stalin, Pol pot, Mao, etc.. When you're an atheist, your conscience for morality tends to get skewed over time.. There is no God to put them in check. Our consciences will change based on self gain.. Reality is, both Atheists and theists believe in fantasy. Theists belief in the supernatural, Atheists believe a fish morphed out of slime. Gotta choose..
@MissedTheMark and people believe in a god or gods that none have proof ever existed...
If you look back at history, there have been more crimes and murders committed by or in the name of Christians or muslims, then anyone else! So I dont see how anyone can target Atheists or Pagans without damning themselves in lies or double standards!
I am not Atheist and dont really know how anyone can live without belief in anything, but I dont see why they should be more of a target then anyone else!
@Skin828 lol.. What God doesn't exist?? He just healed 4 people today. Healed one guys sight, 2 guys backs, and grew out anther's short leg.. You're missin' out on all the fun.. God's so amazing!
If you believe that god is healing some people and allowing others to suffer than what does that say about your beliefs?
Just today, around 16000 children will die from starvation alone, and countless people will have other horrors done to them, murder, rape, beatings, slavery, neglect, poverty, illness, etc.
So for someone to think that a god is only choosing to help some people and ignore others says a lot; that's not a belief I would want to have
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn I don't believe God is healing, I know God is healed. Please come to so cal, I would love to show you. Why are people suffering? Because God ISN'T in control of the world. Why? So humanity can have free will. Reason people are starving, is cause no one's feeding them. God doesn't choose who will be healed. The church is not doing their job to heal. Jesus said, "Heal the sick, cast out demons". They're not doing it except in third world countries through missionaries.
The thing is, the gob described in the Torah/Bible (Yahweh) is a omnipotent and omnipresence deity, which means it has complete control of everything. So there's no reason for the suffering to allows to exist if you believe such a god exists, as it create everything, including evil.
Missionaries, while they do good, need to focus on practicality and not teaching people to prepare to die and hate the world they live in
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn No it doesn't say that God is in control of everything. It says that He is Sovereign over everything. Look up the definition of Sovereign. It doesn't have the word control in it at all. The reason you believe that is because of something called Calvinism which has heavily influenced Christian as well as society for the last 500 years. Missionaries teaching people to prepare to die, hate the world, and kill? What kind of depressing ungodly missionaries are you talking about?
What you're saying is that Yahweh is not all powerful than?
By default, missions teaches dogma, which indoctrinates people into believing in things such as an afterlife and that ones beliefs will shape their "life" after death. This is silly and has no productive value in reality.
The dogma also teaches superiority of belief over others as well as bigotry towards women and homosexuals/transgender, which I find disgusting and hateful
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn I didn't say He wasn't all powerful. I said that He was not in complete control. He is completely capable of being in complete control, but that obviously wouldn't work cause it would compromise human autonomy (free will). God has total authority over the earth, but He doesn't have control over it because of the system He created so that humans can have freedom for dominion over the earth. There's a riot in the streets. The cop has all authority, but doesn't have all control
Unfortunately, many people of different interpretations of what god is, even when referring to the same religious gods (hence all the different denominations of one belief). Most people I've spoken to believe Yahweh is all powerful but chose not to intervene as a punishment for "our sin", but will "bless" or "curse" individuals at it's liking. This interpretation I find disturbing to hear, because how can someone love and worship such an thing?
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn (Part 2) I said, "You've got two choices, either nothing happens and you're an Agnostic or you get healed and you have something to think about". He thought I was gonna walk away and pray. I put my hand on him prayed for 15 seconds, he stopped me and said "I'm sorry I can't do this". He started to walk away without a limp or his cane. He felt hot heat go into his back and he freaked out. He actually backed up in a doorway and didn't come out. He had something to think about
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn C'mon.. You know there is a God.. You only tell yourself there isn't because you're pissed off from issues you had with the church from the past. There was a time you prayed to God and He didn't answer your prayers the way you desired. You got angry and said to Him that You can't be real because If you were, You would have done what I requested. It's the same ol' deal with virtually every Atheist. What the biggest fantasy of all is believing something came from nothing.
I don't know if there is a god or isn't, I used to believe in a higher intelligent power but now I feel that believing in things that cannot be proven is rather silly.
I'm not angry at the concept of god(s) as I can't hate something that I don't believe in, it's the religious ideas of gods that bothers me, where humans create these deities and claim to know what they want and how they act, than use a construct like hell to scare you out of questioning them
The way I see it, is that if an intelligent creator exists, it's obviously not making contact with us (i.e. showing itself) and so it's not relevant for us to make presumptions of what it wants, if anything, from us. That's why I get irritated when religious people make claims about god(s) interfering with life, such as claiming things as miracles or curses when there's no proof of anything of the sort.
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn He may not be making contact with you. Speak for yourself. The thing that I've learned about us westerners is that we really live in a box. It's like we live in a protected bubble from reality. I went up to San Francisco 2 months ago to go and pray for people in The Castro. Some guy had a cane, he told me he had nerve damage in his back. I asked if I could pray for him, he said, "Actually I'm an Agnostic". I said to him, "It's okay, God can still heal you" I smiled (Part 1)
What you're describing is not rational and thus in no way reflects reality. You're essentially looking at scenarios that are unexplainable to you are labeling them miraculous because you don't understand them. Yes, there are cased where someone whose very sick rebounds and becomes well (it's called an immune system) but we've never seen an actual medical case that has been miraculous, aka unexplainable, such as an amputated leg regrow or reattach on it's own
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn lol.. Of course what I described was NOT rational.. Since when did the supernatural ever become rational.. heh heh.. It's the most irrational thing to the natural human mind. lol.. Seriously.. Who is "we've never seen". You're not speaking for the entire international medical community. So you've sifted through every medical file in all the countries in the world? (Part 2)
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn (Part 2) What's funny is you said, "unexplainable". The words the doctor used for my sister was "Unexplained" on the medical records when she got healed of 13 lumps of cancer.. I don't think you really get out much.. I think you need to take a vacation from the nonsense they're teaching you in your class and actually go on a journey of discovery instead of listening to what other people tell you, that think like you. I think you'll be a more happy person in the end.. ;)
Something being unexplanation, at least at the present, doesn't equate it to being a miracle, at least not in the scenarios you're describing. Many things that are now explainable were not in the past, due to a lack of knowledge/technology, and the same applies today. We don't know everything, but that doesn't mean that what we don't [yet] know should be explained by supernatural forces, even if they actually might be. Saying "god did it" doesn't lead to discovery, it stops it
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn heh,, What criteria equates something to be a miracle and who is the authority on it? Again, you live in a box in that you think the world of western education and rational sets the standard of life for the rest of the world. We don't know everything?? What is "everything:"? I don't think you've really thought out what you believe. Reality is, when I tell something to get healed in Jesus' name and it happens the second I do it, builds a case for that name. Quit resisting..
I don't live "in a box", I live in reality and so do you, it's just that I accept this. Could there be such a thing as an actual miracles? Yes. Does that mean things we don't understand *are* miracles? No
This is the difference between a believer and a skeptic:
Believer:"Amazing, God did it!"
Skeptic: "Amazing, I wonder what did this, let's investigate before reaching any conclusions"
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn C'mon. What is reality? You live in the western world where all is safe and ghosts are make believe. It's what you've been taught. If you grow up in Africa, South America, etc., like is different and reality is much different than here in the west. Reality lies into the eye of the beholder. It's already been proven that living in a more educated world, doesn't mean one will become more happy. The most educated still jump off bridges and pull triggers.
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn The real mystery is how people with doctorates and master degrees could believe that a fish formed from slim, then grew out some legs.. We have an excuse of why we believe in the things we do. We are not that educated. How could anyone believe that something the size of my fist, exploded and created the universe. How could such foolishness get past person with such education?? That's the biggest mystery.. Look, we all believe in some sort of fantasy about life.. Sorry
I'm not a scientist so I understand the confusion about the origins of life (Abiogenesis), but I've done a fair bit of research on it and the summary of it does make sense. If you're curious to hear a short description on it, a user named potholer69 has a 6 minute video explaining the basics, just search for:
"3 - The Origin of Life Made Easy"
another good video it:
"The Origin of Life - Abiogenesis - Dr. Jack Szostak"
also, missionaries have caused problems in a lot of the places they've preached their dogma to. For instance, in Nigeria and other places in Africa, the Christianized people are burning witches (even children excused of being necromancers) and killing homosexuals, because they take the words in the Bible seriously.
It's also lead to divisions between other denominations and religions, leading to wars in regions that otherwise would have no reason to hate one another
I'm an atheist and I do accept that humans are animals, but I also have compassion for sentient beings and I want to be treated with kindness, so I treat others the same. The truth is that religious people, bare the exceptions, are like this too. You don't treat people kindly because you're scared of hell, it's because you want positive relationships and don't want conflict
and ftr, religion can cause good people to do bad things, like terrorism and bigotry
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn Yeah, but any person that affiliates themself with a religion and kills people, do not know the God of their religion. Who cares if they try and say that they know that God, He doesn't know them. For Christianity, if one doesn't love, then they are not a Christian no matter how much their mouth talks, according to Jesus. If one is an Atheist and they don't love, they still can be an Atheist.. That's the difference..
Well, I used to be a Christian until I read the Bible all the way through, and I can tell you that it's not a very good book to base ethics and morality on. Most Xians only hear the "nice" verses in church, but they don't usually tell you about how Jesus says to abandon your family if they don't believe, or to beat your slaves if they don't behave and the other commands of the OT which I could write about for pages.
Back in the days when people did use the Biblical laws the church held power, and that lead to burning witches, crusades, paranoia that the mentally ill were demonically possessed, mistreatment of women and children, slavery, killing of skeptics and people of other religions, prevention of the discovery of science and medicine, paranoia that disease and illness were curses from god, etc
Now a days, most Xians ignore the verses that command this, but other Xians didn't
I believe in what's tangible and obtainable, I could care less about the intricacies of the origins of life. Maybe science isn't right exactly about how we came to exist, but I don't think that means we should fill in the gaps of what we don't know with stories based on hearsay from people who lived thousands of years ago; especially if the dogma they created causes people to hate and destroy in the name of their gods
@Leonardo2992 Well Leonardo, I wondered the same thing. The rest of this series were great, so - confused - I looked deeper into it, & conclude what a lot of people here are saying is true. Though not a Christian, I do think they did a "Godfather ending" to make him look like a hypocrite & write off his whole rise to Christian power as 1 big charade. He didn't kill the boy, he killed his own son along with his wife. They may've had an affair. Plus, Lucilicus may've been trying to revolt again.
After watching all these 8 videos all I gotta say it wow. I find it VERY amazing how Christianity came to be the one and only religion of the Roman Empire, and it is because of Constantine's acts and decisions that Christianity spread to soo many countries in Europe and during the age of exploration in medieval times. Wow.
If the bible religions had all right to kill and could get away with it you would see pretty much everyone on earth dead except maybe a billion people. Sad but true.
this scene, besides being blasphemous, makes it seem as if Constantine played a major role in the Council of Nicea and had any part in forming the Credo. He did not. He only was there at the beginning to give a speech....besides, he was a heretic Arian.
@carlosthej It was spread against the will of the Roman Empire and was only eventually coopted by one Emperor when it was so strong that he needed to use it to his advantage.
But that is obvious. So are you trying to sound stupid or is it the more obvious reason that you said this?
@flashtin166 By this time, the Roman Army focused more on mobility rather than power. That was necessary because barbarian tribes were attacking Rome's borders constantly and at multiple places at once. So legions had to ditch the square shield and plate armor, it just slowed them down.
Love how they did the murder scene. Exactly like the Godfather. You know, when all the mob bosses are getting whacked when Michael is at his child's baptism?
Christianisation was started by Jesus Christ and spread by peace to save people from the wrath of God at judgment.
This video represents not christianity, but to the contrary ,the beginning and spread of, and the rise of catholicism, which was spread by death and unrighteousness to gain control of the world, and to rule the earth.
People must decide who they will believe and for what reason they believe it.
Catholicism hasnt the power to save anybody , but the bible church does. Rev 17
If only the religious people who have done so much wrong during the history followed Jesus' teachings of love, mercy, brotherhood and tolerance, Christianity surely wouldn't have gotten such a bad reputation. I believe religion is not the real issue but hateful, greedy men who tend(ed) to use it as a mean of control and power.
Thanks for sharing this series.I find the roots of modern society intesting. I'm trying to avoid religious debate (sigh). The believers, the non,the many faiths..everyone knows they're right.....but,we're most likely,ALL wrong.
We're so sure,we'll kill eachother, even today. I find it shocking.
@Pilaf1984 I said 'we' in my comment to be nuetral.I follow no religion but logic.I want to believe in god,and an afterlife...it sounds nice,we simply have no way of knowing. Some argue that man would find something to fight about if religion didn't exist...that we'd fight as much.I don't think so myself...its sad that these 'good' religions are responsible for so much death.
This movie makes it look like constantine killed him for no reason. in reality, constantine had him killed because he was raising troops to reassert himself. they just need him and christianity to look evil.
I find it ironic that Constantine's forced institutionalization of Christianity on the Roman empire would latter return (with Rome's initial blessing) to sack his city during the 4th crusade. Thus mark the beginning of it's end as a Christian city. Karmic justice?
A lot of hate and ignorance in many of these posts. Constantine certainly had his faults like all of us do but was a man of his time and much less oppressive than most other Emperors. If you must judge Christianity don't judge it by Christians but by Christ . The world of today is a much better place because of Constantine and in spite of the acts of many Christians a better place because of Christianty.
@Bates53 Man,greed, power tainted christianity for many centuries. Many wars and suffering were the direct result of this religion (others too).Belief can be a powerfull thing, when you will die,or kill in it's name.I don't think man needed religion to instill 'goodness'.I'm good because i choose to be,not because i fear damnation.I agree constantine did much for society...rome had far worse emperors.Religion should've been tolerated, not embraced. Respectfully, noble
when Konstantine says one catholic and apostolic church he doesn't mean the catholic church of today
you have to translate from the Greek catholic =total (for all etc etc) later in 1054 this church was divided in orthodox and catholic, but certainly Konstantine didn't meant the catholic pope back then as it is today
Just wait, the Goths come, and they come, and they annihilate. The fall of the Roman Empire that Christian Empire is about to fall in shock and in awe. The lie of Christianity takes fold under new paradigms with logic, reason and intelligence for again the ruling class. When Justinian gets into power watch out. When the Visigoth heritage of the Spanish begins the Spanish inquisition. On and on it goes in the name of God. And lets not forget the 30 years war, all in the name of God.
Sheesh. Constantine was a dick. Licinius was already living in exile on his posh villa in Thessalonica, powerless and unable to stop Constantine, yet the latter had him killed anyway. Now that's a dick move.
You guys are so wrong I belive in one and only God what are you guys thinking he wasnt real !!! You guys are so wrong!!!! He is the ONE AND ONLY GOD HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO CAN SAVE YOU FROM YOUR MISERY.
@RomanJulliEmperor243 You have no way of knowing anything about the creator. I'm a skeptic obviously.I respect your beliefs, but i think you would join a mob and stone me to death if allowed.Your belief is that strong....how can you be so sure?
hey why lots of people in youtube act as philosopher wannabes?make me sick-stop acting as if you're smart, it's youtube, your opinion doesn't really matter
its pitiful that no matter what religion ppl accept, they still kill in its name. Constantine started persecuting the non-christians, then later in the history the european jews were persecuted before the crusaders set for Jerusalem.....................
@middimar constantine did not persecute non-Christians, since he himself was non-christian and worshiped the sun god sol invictus, He only converted on his death bed. There was a period of tolerance that only ended during Theodosius reign.
I normally don't enjoy reading/watching things envolving the late empire. It's just too sad. But this episode really brought things to life and sparked and interest in the period of the empire.
history tells the truth how early catholicism spread by politics, fear, threats, and murder. the catholic crusades were nothing more than murderous gangs of Godless people. Rev.17
The crusades were a reaction of a new religion. The muslim hords were infecting the world and went as far as Spain. Those murderous gangs are the reason you write english and not arabic.
@justinrainbolt I see your point in defending the crusades.Yes,they kept the muslims south.....but both sides were evil to do such a thing...to force their beliefs on you,and kill you if you denied them.Religion did nothing good for society in my eyes...it just slowed progress.
Why use the past tense? The Pope is a former Hitler Youth, grown up to cover the sins of his corporation. And he is one of the "modern" thinkers as far as Catholics go.
.@bracelatul Actually Catholic means universal. Constantine gave the order to the council of Nicea to make it uniform. This also was the point were it became institutionalized, that is a state church. He saw it as an unifying force to hold the crumbling empire together. The proper saying was. "Holy and Catholic church," or 'holy and universal church.'
@ronhanish The Catholic church was corrupt yes, but not without good people. And the crusades were a period of religious zeal and passion. Yes, most who went were criminals, not knights, but most did believe in God. Every story of Christianity and war has good and bad moments, we simply just remember the bad ones more often.
@a1z58o christian and catholic is like apples and oranges. christian church follows Jesus words and the whole bible, catholics write their laws as they go by men and popes and politics. there is no comparison of the two, read rev ,17 to see the prophecy about catholicism.
and believing there is a God doesnt save you or make u anything , bible says the devil believes in God , and that a fool says there is no God. So if you believe there is a God ,congradulations u are 1 step ahead of a fool.
@ronhanish Catholics are Christians. If there had been no Catholic church, there would have been no protestant movement. And Revelation 17 may refer to Jerusalem or Washington D.C. as much as it may mean Rome. It's a prophetic work and every verse of the Bible can be translated differently depending on one's background, morales and personal feelings. It's Mormons who write the law as they go, the Catholic church like their traditions and are slow to change. And tell me then, what's step # 2?
@a1z58o CHURCH OF THE BIBLE IS GODS CHURCH, anything else is false counterfeit,
(John 3:19 KJV) "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."
(John 3:20 KJV) "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."
Jn 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."
@ronhanish And God's church has people of Jewish Muslim Greek Indian Chinese Japanese English Irish and so on all being Christian. They are all different, worship God in their own special way by being the way they are. Acts 10:22 They said, "Cornelius, a Centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken by the entire nation of the Jews, was divinely directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear a message from you
Revelation 8:9-10 After these things..to the lamb
@a1z58o Revelation 8:9-10 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation, and ALL tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb. And who are we to decide who is God's church? God came to earth to save those who weren't saved not those who were.
@a1z58o He spoke with harlots, lepers and tax collectors. The lowest of the low and the most immoral in society. He also took pity on an adulteress choosing to accept her for who she was. We then, cannot judge people and cast them out just because they differ from us. We must love one another and forgive those who hate us. And I believe I can say that God designed us to all differ in opinions and ideas. But, though we may differ on small details we do believe this:
@a1z58o Christ came to earth born of a virgin, died on the cross and rose again in three days from the grave. And that he will come again to take us all home. Catholics, Puritans, Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Non-denominationals, and Mormons all believe this. If we believe that, then we are of the Church of God.
@ronhanish If your gonna quote bible verses, quote it all.Acts10 44-45 While Peter spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. And all the circumcised believers who came with peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles too.Acts 46For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then peter answered:
Acts 47Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received
@a1z58o step 2 is to repent and , hold on , i'll let the apostle of the Lamb tell you;
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation
@ronhanish I like to believe that religon can unite and bring peace to people. However like you said so many use religion to get what they want or in the case of the crusades use it as an excuese to wage war. They brutalized and slaughtered people who differed in faith many were innocent women and children.
@outlawX357 religion may unite people, but if u study u will find out that all religion has a man made origin ,,and that will never be able to save anyone,
Truth only has the power to liberate and save,
people have a problem, we all have sinned against an holy ,all mighty God, and its the responsibility of every person to seek out this God for reconciliation to Him personally , and if people do not find the truth before they die , they will be at the mercy of this all powerful Christ.
@ronhanish its true however if it wasnt for st fransis of assisi he changed the catholic church today where we didnt those things anymore (im catholic)
@A9900960 i know its true bro , i really wish it wasnt because of the good catholic people following those lies all this all these centuries. Gods judgements are in the bible about HER, the church of the attrocities and disobedience to His Word ,
God knows there are precous people in there ,but He warns them to come out of HER, read REV 17 , its all about that church
U might know it was started because christianity became so powerful so fast, Politics started the roman catholic church goodluc
@AleksandrosBr Bible history says the church was started on the day of pentecost in an upper room; that Jeaus baptized believers with the holy ghost and the CHURCH spoke in tongues as the SPIRIT gave the utterance,
thats the history of the church bro, if u dont got that , then all u got is religion
religion cant save nobody ,cause it doesnt have the power of God operating in it
Acts 2:1-4 READ IT FOR URSELF
THERE IS NO OTHER CHURCH ,JESUS ONLY STARTED 1 CHURCH AT PENTECOST
True Christians have been a small group throughout the ages. Constantine was not a true Christian but the beginning of the Apostate system which Christ will crush at his return. There has always been a small group of true believers, you just need to search it out and you will find it. Constantine is in the book of revelation.Seek it out you will find it. True believers have the key.

One thing about this documentary is true...the real spread of christian religion and christianisation of the Roman world begins during Constantine's regime as an emperor...if Jesus Christ was the founder of the religion and apostle Paul the theoretical teacher of it's faith and believes, Constantine is the establisher of the religion in practice...
lapislazuli248 3 months ago
@lapislazuli248 not just in "practice", before Constantine Christian beliefs weren't firmly laid down for the entire faith, he changed that in 325AD with the Nicene Creed
255ad 2 months ago
@255ad Τhe works of the Christians of the first 3 centuries (Ignatius, Hippolytus, Justin, Athenagoras, Irenaeus, Tertullian) agree that Christians had a strictly defined faith long before Constantine (trinity, divinity of Jesus, existence of special priesthood-clergy etc). Only a fanatic or ignorant can doubt that.
The synods just expressed in official expressions what the Church already believed in. The Church & its beliefs existed even before the writing of the New Testament (1st cent AD).
Lhein33 2 months ago
@Lhein33 "agree that Christians had a strictly defined faith long before Constantine" I'm really really ignorant on this subject, but based on the little I've been told as I understand it it was generally agreed but not "strictly defined" what a Christian was, that was the point of the Nicene Creed to specifically define what beliefs some one had to have to truthfully call them self a Christian
255ad 2 months ago
@255ad I'm pretty sure that the ancient christian works suggest that the dipole orthodoxy (right faith) vs heresy existed since the time of the apostles. Eg John & Paul warn Christians to be careful when sb preaches sth different than the gospel, Ireneaus (2nd cent) wrote Adversus Haereses etc.
The Synods were occasional events, they took place only when a heresy arose first; they didn't intend to write a christian manifest/charter. The Church experiences its faith even before its recording.
Lhein33 2 months ago
@Lhein33 " The Church experiences its faith even before its recording. "
That is precisely what makes it vulnerable to distortion over time. And in the time of Constantine they realize that there is so much heresy that the emperor is needed to act. And that's basically the beginning of Christian inquisition and the eclipse of non-Christianity in the west.

Funny how the Roman Empire fell soon after Christianity took place within the empire.
And about 1000 years of religious intolerance and discord took place as well just because there was a lust for power amongst emperors and kings. It is easy to rule with absolute authority with only one god.
Galather0 9 months ago
@Galather0 It's also easy to kill 40 million people when you believe there is no god holding you accountable.. Just say thanks to your buddy Joseph Stalin, the biggest reason why Atheism sucks.. Killed more people in one lifetime than all religions combined.
MissedTheMark 9 months ago
@MissedTheMark
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 5 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn Atheists kill because they look at human life as animals. Atheism is by far, responsible for the most murders in the world. Stalin, Pol pot, Mao, etc.. When you're an atheist, your conscience for morality tends to get skewed over time.. There is no God to put them in check. Our consciences will change based on self gain.. Reality is, both Atheists and theists believe in fantasy. Theists belief in the supernatural, Atheists believe a fish morphed out of slime. Gotta choose..

If you believe that god is healing some people and allowing others to suffer than what does that say about your beliefs?
Just today, around 16000 children will die from starvation alone, and countless people will have other horrors done to them, murder, rape, beatings, slavery, neglect, poverty, illness, etc.
So for someone to think that a god is only choosing to help some people and ignore others says a lot; that's not a belief I would want to have
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 5 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn I don't believe God is healing, I know God is healed. Please come to so cal, I would love to show you. Why are people suffering? Because God ISN'T in control of the world. Why? So humanity can have free will. Reason people are starving, is cause no one's feeding them. God doesn't choose who will be healed. The church is not doing their job to heal. Jesus said, "Heal the sick, cast out demons". They're not doing it except in third world countries through missionaries.
MissedTheMark 5 months ago
@MissedTheMark
The thing is, the gob described in the Torah/Bible (Yahweh) is a omnipotent and omnipresence deity, which means it has complete control of everything. So there's no reason for the suffering to allows to exist if you believe such a god exists, as it create everything, including evil.
Missionaries, while they do good, need to focus on practicality and not teaching people to prepare to die and hate the world they live in
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 5 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn No it doesn't say that God is in control of everything. It says that He is Sovereign over everything. Look up the definition of Sovereign. It doesn't have the word control in it at all. The reason you believe that is because of something called Calvinism which has heavily influenced Christian as well as society for the last 500 years. Missionaries teaching people to prepare to die, hate the world, and kill? What kind of depressing ungodly missionaries are you talking about?
MissedTheMark 5 months ago
@MissedTheMark
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn I didn't say He wasn't all powerful. I said that He was not in complete control. He is completely capable of being in complete control, but that obviously wouldn't work cause it would compromise human autonomy (free will). God has total authority over the earth, but He doesn't have control over it because of the system He created so that humans can have freedom for dominion over the earth. There's a riot in the streets. The cop has all authority, but doesn't have all control
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@MissedTheMark
Thank you for the clarification

He had something to think about
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn C'mon.. You know there is a God.. You only tell yourself there isn't because you're pissed off from issues you had with the church from the past. There was a time you prayed to God and He didn't answer your prayers the way you desired. You got angry and said to Him that You can't be real because If you were, You would have done what I requested. It's the same ol' deal with virtually every Atheist. What the biggest fantasy of all is believing something came from nothing.
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@MissedTheMark
I don't know if there is a god or isn't, I used to believe in a higher intelligent power but now I feel that believing in things that cannot be proven is rather silly.
I'm not angry at the concept of god(s) as I can't hate something that I don't believe in, it's the religious ideas of gods that bothers me, where humans create these deities and claim to know what they want and how they act, than use a construct like hell to scare you out of questioning them
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 4 months ago
@MissedTheMark
part 2...
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn He may not be making contact with you. Speak for yourself. The thing that I've learned about us westerners is that we really live in a box. It's like we live in a protected bubble from reality. I went up to San Francisco 2 months ago to go and pray for people in The Castro. Some guy had a cane, he told me he had nerve damage in his back. I asked if I could pray for him, he said, "Actually I'm an Agnostic". I said to him, "It's okay, God can still heal you" I smiled (Part 1)
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@MissedTheMark
What you're describing is not rational and thus in no way reflects reality. You're essentially looking at scenarios that are unexplainable to you are labeling them miraculous because you don't understand them. Yes, there are cased where someone whose very sick rebounds and becomes well (it's called an immune system) but we've never seen an actual medical case that has been miraculous, aka unexplainable, such as an amputated leg regrow or reattach on it's own
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn lol.. Of course what I described was NOT rational.. Since when did the supernatural ever become rational.. heh heh.. It's the most irrational thing to the natural human mind. lol.. Seriously.. Who is "we've never seen". You're not speaking for the entire international medical community. So you've sifted through every medical file in all the countries in the world? (Part 2)
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn (Part 2) What's funny is you said, "unexplainable". The words the doctor used for my sister was "Unexplained" on the medical records when she got healed of 13 lumps of cancer.. I don't think you really get out much.. I think you need to take a vacation from the nonsense they're teaching you in your class and actually go on a journey of discovery instead of listening to what other people tell you, that think like you. I think you'll be a more happy person in the end.. ;)
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@MissedTheMark
Saying "god did it" doesn't lead to discovery, it stops it
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn heh,, What criteria equates something to be a miracle and who is the authority on it? Again, you live in a box in that you think the world of western education and rational sets the standard of life for the rest of the world. We don't know everything?? What is "everything:"? I don't think you've really thought out what you believe. Reality is, when I tell something to get healed in Jesus' name and it happens the second I do it, builds a case for that name. Quit resisting..
MissedTheMark 4 months ago
@MissedTheMark
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 4 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn C'mon. What is reality? You live in the western world where all is safe and ghosts are make believe. It's what you've been taught. If you grow up in Africa, South America, etc., like is different and reality is much different than here in the west. Reality lies into the eye of the beholder. It's already been proven that living in a more educated world, doesn't mean one will become more happy. The most educated still jump off bridges and pull triggers.

also, missionaries have caused problems in a lot of the places they've preached their dogma to. For instance, in Nigeria and other places in Africa, the Christianized people are burning witches (even children excused of being necromancers) and killing homosexuals, because they take the words in the Bible seriously.
It's also lead to divisions between other denominations and religions, leading to wars in regions that otherwise would have no reason to hate one another
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 5 months ago
@MissedTheMark
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 5 months ago
@LadyAmaltheaUnicorn Yeah, but any person that affiliates themself with a religion and kills people, do not know the God of their religion. Who cares if they try and say that they know that God, He doesn't know them. For Christianity, if one doesn't love, then they are not a Christian no matter how much their mouth talks, according to Jesus. If one is an Atheist and they don't love, they still can be an Atheist.. That's the difference..
MissedTheMark 5 months ago

Well, I used to be a Christian until I read the Bible all the way through, and I can tell you that it's not a very good book to base ethics and morality on. Most Xians only hear the "nice" verses in church, but they don't usually tell you about how Jesus says to abandon your family if they don't believe, or to beat your slaves if they don't behave and the other commands of the OT which I could write about for pages.
LadyAmaltheaUnicorn 5 months ago

Back in the days when people did use the Biblical laws the church held power, and that lead to burning witches, crusades, paranoia that the mentally ill were demonically possessed, mistreatment of women and children, slavery, killing of skeptics and people of other religions, prevention of the discovery of science and medicine, paranoia that disease and illness were curses from god, etc
Now a days, most Xians ignore the verses that command this, but other Xians didn't

I believe in what's tangible and obtainable, I could care less about the intricacies of the origins of life. This video represents not christianity, but to the contrary ,the beginning and spread of, and the rise of catholicism, which was spread by death and unrighteousness to gain control of the world, and to rule the earth.
People must decide who they will believe and for what reason they believe it.

when Konstantine says one catholic and apostolic church he doesn't mean the catholic church of today

Sheesh. Constantine was a dick. Licinius was already living in exile on his posh villa in Thessalonica, powerless and unable to stop Constantine, yet the latter had him killed anyway. Now that's a dick move.

its pitiful that no matter what religion ppl accept, they still kill in its name.

(Exo 20:13 KJV) "Thou shalt not kill."
(Mat 26:52 KJV) "Then said Jesus unto him, Put up again thy sword into his place: for all they that take the sword shall perish with the sword."
(Mat 26:53 KJV) "Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?"
GOD DONT LIKE ANY KIND OF KILLIN
ronhanish 2 years ago
@justinrainbolt I see your point in defending the crusades.Yes,they kept the muslims south.....but both sides were evil to do such a thing...to force their beliefs on you,and kill you if you denied them.Religion did nothing good for society in my eyes...it just slowed progress.
noblepuker 1 year ago
@ronhanish - "were nothing more than...."
Why use the past tense? The Pope is a former Hitler Youth, grown up to cover the sins of his corporation. And he is one of the "modern" thinkers as far as Catholics go.

not catholics, christians! Great Schism took place in 1054, diving the christians in catholics and orthodox.
bracelatul 1 year ago
.@bracelatul Actually Catholic means universal. Constantine gave the order to the council of Nicea to make it uniform. This also was the point were it became institutionalized, that is a state church. He saw it as an unifying force to hold the crumbling empire together. The proper saying was. "Holy and Catholic church," or 'holy and universal church.'
tjc59ae 1 year ago
@ronhanish The Catholic church was corrupt yes, but not without good people. And the crusades were a period of religious zeal and passion. Yes, most who went were criminals, not knights, but most did believe in God. Every story of Christianity and war has good and bad moments, we simply just remember the bad ones more often.
a1z58o 1 year ago
@a1z58o christian and catholic is like apples and oranges. christian church follows Jesus words and the whole bible, catholics write their laws as they go by men and popes and politics. there is no comparison of the two, read rev ,17 to see the prophecy about catholicism.
and believing there is a God doesnt save you or make u anything , bible says the devil believes in God , and that a fool says there is no God. So if you believe there is a God ,congradulations u are 1 step ahead of a fool.
ronhanish 1 year ago
@ronhanish Catholics are Christians. If there had been no Catholic church, there would have been no protestant movement. And Revelation 17 may refer to Jerusalem or Washington D.C. as much as it may mean Rome. It's a prophetic work and every verse of the Bible can be translated differently depending on one's background, morales and personal feelings. It's Mormons who write the law as they go, the Catholic church like their traditions and are slow to change. And tell me then, what's step # 2?
a1z58o 1 year ago
@a1z58o CHURCH OF THE BIBLE IS GODS CHURCH, anything else is false counterfeit,
(John 3:19 KJV) "And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil."
(John 3:20 KJV) "For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved."
Jn 3:21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God."
ronhanish 1 year ago
@ronhanish And God's church has people of Jewish Muslim Greek Indian Chinese Japanese English Irish and so on all being Christian. They are all different, worship God in their own special way by being the way they are. Acts 10:22 They said, "Cornelius, a Centurion, a righteous and God-fearing man well spoken by the entire nation of the Jews, was divinely directed by a holy angel to send for you to come to his house and hear a message from you
Revelation 8:9-10 After these things..to the lamb
a1z58o 1 year ago
@a1z58o Revelation 8:9-10 After these things I looked, and behold, a great multitude which no one could count, from every nation, and ALL tribes and peoples and tongues, standing before the throne and the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and palm branches were in their hands and they cry out with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God who sits on the throne, and to the Lamb. And who are we to decide who is God's church? God came to earth to save those who weren't saved not those who were.
a1z58o 1 year ago
@a1z58o He spoke with harlots, lepers and tax collectors. The lowest of the low and the most immoral in society. He also took pity on an adulteress choosing to accept her for who she was. We then, cannot judge people and cast them out just because they differ from us. We must love one another and forgive those who hate us. And I believe I can say that God designed us to all differ in opinions and ideas. But, though we may differ on small details we do believe this:
a1z58o 1 year ago
@a1z58o Christ came to earth born of a virgin, died on the cross and rose again in three days from the grave. And that he will come again to take us all home. Catholics, Puritans, Adventists, Jehovah's Witnesses, Non-denominationals, and Mormons all believe this. If we believe that, then we are of the Church of God.
a1z58o 1 year ago
@a1z58o Gods message to cornelius and to you
Acts 10:45 as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost
Acts 10:46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God. Then answered Peter
Acts 10:47 Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, which have received the Holy Ghost as well as we
Acts 10:48 And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then prayed they him to tarry certain days
ronhanish 1 year ago
@ronhanish If your gonna quote bible verses, quote it all.Acts10 44-45 While Peter spoke these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who were listening to the message. And all the circumcised believers who came with peter were amazed, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles too.Acts 46For they were hearing them speaking with tongues and exalting God. Then peter answered:
Acts 47Surely no one can refuse the water for these to be baptized who have received

@a1z58o step 2 is to repent and , hold on , i'll let the apostle of the Lamb tell you;
Acts 2:38 Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost And with many other words did he testify and exhort, saying, Save yourselves from this untoward generation

@ronhanish I like to believe that religon can unite and bring peace to people. However like you said so many use religion to get what they want or in the case of the crusades use it as an excuese to wage war. They brutalized and slaughtered people who differed in faith many were innocent women and children.
outlawX357 1 year ago
@outlawX357 religion may unite people, but if u study u will find out that all religion has a man made origin ,,and that will never be able to save anyone,
Truth only has the power to liberate and save,
people have a problem, we all have sinned against an holy ,all mighty God, and its the responsibility of every person to seek out this God for reconciliation to Him personally , and if people do not find the truth before they die , they will be at the mercy of this all powerful Christ.

History tells us clearly that the church was universal
so that means that the first church was the Orthodox
church...........
The first Christian state was Byzantine Empire
AleksandrosBr 1 year ago
@AleksandrosBr Bible history says the church was started on the day of pentecost in an upper room; that Jeaus baptized believers with the holy ghost and the CHURCH spoke in tongues as the SPIRIT gave the utterance,
thats the history of the church bro, if u dont got that , then all u got is religion
religion cant save nobody ,cause it doesnt have the power of God operating in it
Acts 2:1-4 READ IT FOR URSELF
THERE IS NO OTHER CHURCH ,JESUS ONLY STARTED 1 CHURCH AT PENTECOST
ronhanish 1 year ago
@ronhanish
Yeah then and most of the Gospels were written in Greek language...
Thats why Byzantine Empire converted Italy, Russia, Europe in
Orthodox Church while they prayed in stones we had Venice as
our vassals we build the first huge Christian cathedral Hagia Sophia..
Catholics came in 1054 AD when Pope Leo IX and Patriarch of Constantinople Michael Cerularius exchanged anathemas in Hagia Sophia...
Thanks to Catholics now Constantinople is under the Turkish
occupation.......
Thank you
