Hey Rich, great video - and congrats on your experiments. I'm just dabbling with solar myself - can I ask: do you have all this stuff, your 24v wind, 12v PV, all on the same alternator? Or just the PV? How'd you get all your voltages together to run back to your grid? - curious about your intergration there I guess.
love it !!!looks like you have plenty of towers( trees) i see were folks have them low just over the roof to use the concentrated air flow at the peek. then you have hear it buzz because there are hooked to the house.looking forward to your first windy day.gonna do this too.
You should check out Otherpower if you want to learn. They have lots of good information on wind, solar etc. WindBlue also sells those alternators and turbine kits for around $400.
Yes, it is a Delco 10-12Si alternator that has been gutted. The stator is rewound with thinner wire and then retrofitted with a neodymium magnet core. Bye bye brushes. Should put out around 10-15 Amps in a 15MPH wind.Same one I got. Congrats Rich! Glad to see you joined the family. Now you just need a tall tower to reach that wind. Keep us posted.
@centervilletn the armature has been replaced so you make power at low rpms. yes a car run say 800 rpms and make good power then you have deal the pullys are spinning the alt real fast. what 5 to 1.
Nice machine, does your electric utility pay you back for power pushed out to the grid or does your meter just register backwards? I know in some areas there are incentives for grid tie power that is actually more than double the average KW hour cost and is credited back to you or factored in to your monthly charge.
@CTOL1 hi to send power back to the grid you have to make more than your useing never can do that with 2 small panels you have to have a lot of big panels and good sun and money to burn but i like working with this stuff
@richallenmusic Yes understood, I guess I misunderstood that you were putting it back into the grid. I am currently watching for storage batteries, I have an eye out for pallet truck and or fork lift batteries. These are near impossible to move though. If I were working I would just get a pile of golf cart batteries. I do have 2 pure sine wave inverters 1800 & 1500 watt, and I am working on my PV panels. My ultimate goal is to go off grid if need be. I have about 3000 watts of cells.
Great setup ,you may need to add more blades to your windmill ,this will catch more air and increase your power output.

Just wondering how the solar panels are working out and if you got any more.
