  • Great video man. I have roller painted mine 17 years ago either.

    5/5*

  • Cheers. Theses superb cars are becoming rarer all the time. I hope one day I can get an old oval. Are you in Germany? Are there a lot of beetles still? I bet there are lots in barns and sheds, just waiting...

  • Cheers, yes I am from Germany, the homeland of the beetle, but here they are extremely rare either, cause less people ever thought that he will become a classic car and so they through most of them to the junkyard. But you're also probably right, in sheds and barns some rare beetles are fallen asleep, like my beetle does. Cause as an all day car I am using my Fiesta MK 1 from 1981 since 15 years, he has a better heating and better transportation possibilities.

  • Get the Beetle out! Beetle heaters are great when they are fixed right. The miles per gallon is very bad though... I loved it last winter - some days my Beetle was the only car on the road and others were stuck.

  • Yeah in winter seasons a beetle is very great.

I will put my beetle back on the road when I will have time, but I guess this will be when I am a pensioner ;)

  • hey, incase your interested I finnaly got a vid of mine up :)

  • Great - I'll have a look. Wondering if you roller painted her? ;o)

  • not yet but I am going to do it. :)

  • hey dude your bugs lookin fantastic,I followed your vids such an impovement. :)

  • Hey thanks, you've no idea how pleased I am to read your comment. My bug's off the road for the moment since the MOT ran out. I'm working on her... Don't plan anything spectacular, just keep her running sweet. Got another bug, a 1969 1500 - in bits. Cheers.

  • no problem ,I finnaly just got mine on the road again after about 9 months its so great to be back, its a 1972 with all early model body parts and a flat spray paint can paint job,but hey its got personalitly.

  • I painted mine with a roller! Rustoleum (aka Tremclad) and a wee sponge roller - cost about £30. Personality is what it's about. My bug is always happy to see me.

  • WOW A PAINT ROLLER! I wouldn't have belived it cost me $60 and I didn't get nearly as good results as you,and it dose look happy thats for sure, did you wet sand it after words?

  • I pre-sanded then just rolled a couple of coats on with the roller, didn't sand it after. That paint I mentioned is the business, great stuff. I did try heating the paint then brush painting, but I boiled out the solvents and the paint went weird - ran like a river. Did the floor with black bituminous paint, underneath too. Replaced the points and coil with Pertronix electronic ignition system - perfect. Just back from a run just now - running sweet. Soon putting on Cal-Look wings+lights.

  • awsome sounds like you got some good planns lined up,I just got back from a really big VW show.nothin but me and my dad crusin for a whole hour in the bug no problems and perfect PERFECT weather conditions while blasting metalica on the sterio I built.what a turn out to every thing from totaly custome hot rod VW's to cherry 1940's cars oh my god soooooo cool.

  • Would love to have a right hand drive bug like that in the states!

  • I'm in love with my car!

  • Don't talk to me about being in love with your car. My 59 Baja is my friend. They all have personalities. Mine is called "The Freedom Bug"

  • cute hrole
