man, please send me that program, I have tried to find it everywhere. I also have ST2220t and I want to get full potential of it :) the link shown on "ExoPC download and install" doesn't work :/
I'm not sure if it would work on a non touch machine. Do you have a touch machine, and if so, what do you mean when you say you can't get it on your desktop? Do you mean you can't download it there or it will not install? If I have time tomorrow, I'll make a short video clip showing the whole procedure, from downloading to installing it.
Open a Google search page and enter the words "download exopc" and the top result on that page will be the exopc website, where they offer the download right on that page. Look for "click here" written in orange.
@AlaCarcuss. Where you locate the monitor is important as to how much you will use the touch features. If you locate it like a regular monitor on a desk, at shoulder level, you'll find that it is far to reach and tiring to have your arms stretched out all the time. I have mine at a much lower level on a normal height coffee table. I sit in a mobile chair and I get myself as close as possible. From this angle, it is easy & fun to use the touch features, rather than the mouse and keyboard.
I have stopped using Microsoft Origami as a touch interface, as it steals power and speed in a major way but I haven't found anything decent to replace it with, so I suggest not using Origami, and instead, doing everything possible to modify Windows itself, to be more touch friendly, like increasing text size (DPI), making single clicks open folders, etc.
The one with the circles is called ExoPC (downloadale from the internet) and the main interface is Origami from Microsoft, also freely downloadable from the internet.
The Microsoft Touchpack is also available for free on the internet and it provides a few kool and useful programs/games.
FYI: Anyone who wants to buy one of these touchscreens, will need a powerful computer to drive it properly. At the very least, one would need a high powered dual core with a 1 gig gaming graphics card, or any machine like the HP Probook used in this video, which has an Intel Sandy Bridge processor that has medium powered 3D gaming ability built into the processor chip. The Win Index gaming graphics score on the Probook is 6.1. If you don't have a graphics score of 5.9 or more, you will get lag.
to hillbilly8391. That laptop continues to impress me. I tried using the Dell ST2220t touchscreen on my 13 inch dual core laptop but the lag was bad. Hooking up the touch monitor to my big PC, gave perfect results. The HP Probook 4530s manages to give 90% of the PC results at a fraction of the price ($500 vs $3,000 US). As seen in the video above, what lag there may be is miniscule and not enough to detract from the whole touch experience on a Windows system. That HP Probook is # 1 in my book.
