  • Wow mate this must be one of your best ever fishing days eh?

  • Just had to veiw this blog again Steve, what a memorable day, sure gts me in the carp fishing spirit for 2009!!

  • Certainly was a good summer for me and this was a good day.

I remember it all so very well.

how lucky i am too to have it all here to watch over agian.

    Excellent!

Cheers buddy best of luck for the coming spring (2009)..

  • :oD fishing a new water sunday and its gona beeeeeeee fra eeezing but i dont care cos im gonna have me a 30 lber :o) Maybe not but im sure as hell going to enjoy it, it can snow and it can rain and the weather can cause me physical pain! but im going all the same, lol ill stick to fishing rather than poetry i think :) still wading me way through ya posts m8 lol yad think id of seen them all by now eh? well i have :o). I just like watching them over and over lol cos im odd like that :oD

  • get yourself an ipod and watch em on the bank:)

Best of luck and remember do not do the same as everyone else, because if you do you will catch the same as everyone else.

    f all:)

Fish the margin, use 2 ft rigs, small hooks and little bait.

On one rod at least eh.

  • hehe i think ill get myself an ipod soon actualy :o).. theres a set of lakes and ive picked the one that records this year for it would suggest its fishing best, (biggest this season is a 36lb 8 mirror) but most of all although i dont fancy me chances in winter there are huge grass carp showing up on the books tho earlier this year (summer).

  • I havent fished it before so i think ill take your advice on small hook margin one rod and one rod spodded maybe out far, I was naughty did abit of feature finding and have found 1 or 2 gravel/hard areas in other wise soft bottoms so i feel they may be hot spots perhaps, sunday will tell :o). Im also gonna feed little as ive seen your tips, i think maybe in the past ive over fed a little and altho had some clonkers this year (upto 32.12) i could have done better, so a change cannot hurt! :o)

  • p.s thanks for all tips present and past and i hope you are continuing with the enthusiasym of posting videos mate. Your great to watch lol and altho my missis hates you as each time i watch you or any carp vids.. I MUST GO MYSELF. hehe :o) despite her getting the hump im looking forward to more and more posts. Laters mate \o (sorry for fast typing, ignore errors! got me two year old sitting on my lap wanting to see peppa pig sites!)

  • Tell ur missus that there is a new film up now:)

  • Oh she will be delighted lol but not as much as me lol... Shes yet to know that Tuesday, wednesday and friday this week im gonna be absent lol, i tell her an hour before i leave as its easier on the ears :o).

  • how much bait are you putting in and over how many days before a session?

  • not a lot actually just handfuls here and there where i know carp get.

The thing is to be regular, ie everyday.

I find large amounts of bait can kill a swim stone dead for a number of reasons not least of all because the carp spool off it but also it attracts all the other unwanted species like a magnet!!

So just as i was always taught as a youngster.

    "little and often.."

...you cant beat old wisdom eh?

  • Great blogs, steve. really enjoyed them... one thing tho - what did u mean by halycon days? cheers m8

  • Halcyon in the dictonary means:

adj (of a period) Happy and peacful.

  • oh right. Cheers m8 :)

  • is that why you waited till christmas to put this blog up

  • i dont wait to put up blogs.

They take a lot of time to produce and so i get behind.

    tight lines

  • next blog is in 2008!!

    sometime soon i guess...

    dunno really erm...........

    Happy new year m8

  • Fantastic collection of blogs steve, well in fella.

Look forward to a few more in 2008,have a good`n

  • You too m8

Happy new year to you and all.

  • thank you and a happy new year

  • very nice fishys but i was wondering do you buy yur own rigs or make them because im new to carp fishing and really all i use is bolt rigs i was wondereing wat is a good rig for 2008

  • I make all my rigs on the bank and i change them often, length, hook patten and size ect.

I use running lead setups mostly, avoiding semi-fixed leads as the carp use them to shake out the hook.

The most important things to get right tho are as always.

    Location, stealth and bait.

Rigs dont matter as much as we think and the standard size 8-4 hooks with 6 inches of 25lb line and a 'standard 1 inch hair' off the 'top of the hook' will do in most swims.

  • Hello Carpcatcher.

Just want to say I find your blogs very interesting and informative. I'm also glad that (lucky for me) have never had to pay to carp fish in any swim here in Canada and feel sorry for you Brit's that do. Unless I'm overlooking something? Keep the blogs comming as they are great and look forward to them.

    Thanks bud

  • Your most welcome.
