the launch was ok but it sure turned bad when he went prone. a little to much happening for a beginner to deal with at low altitude. lost his speed to fly. may i suggest Dennis Pagens hangliding for beginners.
i mean... lets face it we all did things like that learning, thats why they call it learning.
maybe omit the knee straps so as not to be so tempted to go prone.
He was an absolute beginner.. I think in the US or in other contries you're tougt to keep upright as beginner, or what? I don't know. Well, we actually learn to get the prone position from the beginning.
err where is that then, here in the uk we use uprights on a tiny hill like this, i mean there is no time, no point in changing. he needs to be ready to land. this student is being made to make two transitions very near the floor, thats madness. he needs to be in control not moving hands. transition should be well clear of the floor before final aproach, not like all these people that change in ground effect, one day you will get dumped or turned as you are chaning hands, high up doesn't matter
This video is from 2005, the teacher was one of Germany's first HG teachers and very old-school, although one of the best. He is now retired and there are younger teachers now. Anyway the clip shows, this is the wrong way to do hanggliding...
hang point to far back

Wht type of harness is that .

@ToniTonyTone46 It's a knee hanger, an open-type harness for education purposes. Probably from Charly Germany.

I imagine the pilot already had an H-1 or
H-2 rating (he went prone right after
takeoff), so the prolonged push-out was
a very unusual goof.
