Huh? Why did she change the lyrics at the end of the song? I'm not even sure ending it with "Why you can´t raise your voice to say" makes any sense. It kind of just...leaves the verse hanging. I'm usually fairly open to covers, but this is one I'm really not a fan of and a portoin of that is the lyric change. And why take out the "Have heart" segment? Repeating the chorus four times instead seems awkward to say the very least.

My honest opinion is that both covers are equally beautiful. Snow Patrol's original version is fit for it's soft rock style. Gary Lightbody's voice put a beautiful, say, conversation voice. Like, he's speaking with his usual dramatic voice, until the chorus when he's just perfect.. And the guitar solo in that was just perfectly fit. Leona Lewis is more of an orchestral choir style, which gives the song a more sad, beautiful, classical feel, which expresses the songs message.

As long as people are respectful of the fact that there was an original and appreciate those who actually wrote the lyrics and music. There are artists themselves that have admitted when another artist does their own song better. It's done out of admiration, not ego. And it's no doubt Snow Patrol made money by allowing Leona to record it, so they win either way. :)
