I was sat about 20 meters away from this. Eating a pie which didn't stay down for long !
I'll never forget it. The worse football injury i've seen. The blood was horrific on the pitch. And i was there 12 months later when he hobbled out onto the pitch to say thanks to the supporters.
@bkasandbk2 I'm sorry but did you just say Who is schmeichel OMG YOU OMG I WILL KILL YOU I WILL KILL YOU he is one of the greatest goalkeepers to ever live omg all hope is lost I swear I will come to your house tonight and kill you, you son of a bitch. I'm sorry no hard feelings buddy :)
Schmiechel threw up after he saw the injury and apparently had councilling after the game. they took 15 minutes to mop blood off the pitch. fucked up shit.
but it is amazing that they put there differences assisde and scheimcell put it out straight away and apparently he like couldn't play the rest of the game he was crying or somint like that
it just all the momentum coming to a stop something has got to give, i did a similar thing to my arm the top half went up at like a 90 degree angle. i didn't feel it because of the shock though
@Supersmooth007 there was alot of blood but it cant be seen clearly on these pictures cuz it mayy not have been long enough to start bleeding and also because of the texture of the pitch
But what caused such a horrific injury - I have seem similar things in Kick boxing but not football?> Usually it would be the ankle or heal lose not knee cap
well it wasnt the knee cap it was the tibula and fibua that got snapped because of the force of the tackle and it was so horrific as one of the broken bones pierced through the skin
Busst's injuries were so bad that he at one point ran the risk of having his leg amputated.[4] While in hospital, Busst contracted MRSA which caused further damage to the tissue and muscle in the injured part of his leg.[6] Despite having 26 operations, Busst remained a member of the Coventry squad but never played again and retired from the game following advice from his doctors on 6 November 1996 at the age of 29
The final picture shows Dennis Irwin with his hand on Busst's hip, trying to steady him, while calling for help. Dion Dublin looks distraught., and no wonder. Both of David Busst's bones in the lower leg were snapped and it took 12 minutes to clean the blood from the pitch. 26 operations later, and after contracting MRSA in hospital, it was feared his leg might have to be amputated, but thankfully he recovered.
No football fan could fail to feel sorry for him. I wish him well for the future.
Well look at it in a positive way. He is very LUCKY that his leg was not amputated. I feel for the pain though, God I saw Schmeichel cover his eyes that day...It was a very scary injury. I really hope he is doing better now.

Yeah if your gonna copy stuff of wikipedia dont make it that obvious. Busst = Legend.

in the 2nd and 3rd pic why is his leg swollen???
ljw15 2 years ago
his leg isn't swollen, it's from the muscles tearing away from the bone. they twist to make it appear as though his leg is swollen.
ejyounggun08 2 years ago
How come it took 26 operations to mend the leg?
It must have been unbelievably painful.
