  • nice to have something like this BUT i'd rather fly a real ultralight airplane than such a big rc plane

  • borrrrrrring

  • thanks for the info.. I know about the carbon rods to reinforce foam wings, just wondered what a typical foam core fuse. would need to enable the paint to stick to it and look this good, the plane in the video is really cool. I never considered passenger jets a modeling topic until I have seen them here. In the smaller scale models they really do look awesome...................... Jeff

  • I get it that these jets are scratch built and foam, question is once you have the parts made and beefed up, what do you cover the foam with to give it some strength? Thanks Jeff, cool vid..

  • @subron6er Foam is usually strengthened by carbon fiber rods... this plane is prob not at all foam... this is all balsa wood looks like..... Foam is usually not covered only with paint... This plane was prob covered by either monokoat or ultracoat....

  • Great landing...

  • bad landing

  • @pilotman322 i think engine failure flame out

  • @pilotman322 bad landing? haha he had no power. that was a beautiful save.

  • why?

  • Que tabos!!

  • Lands like a real MD11! Oh, and why does it have "MD11F" on the tail? Also, why Rolls Royce logo on the tail nacelle? No MD11s had RR engines.

  • @positiveclimb yea but real Delta airplanes have Rolls Royce motors so it makes it look real.

  • with the time this man should control his RC... Is there any Bill Hempel Video with a plane which works from start to landing?

  • Sounds real. Nice save.

  • Wow, "like a pro" is right on. That was amazing piloting - glad you were able to save that beautiful plane :-)

  • nice plane, but what the landing was so bad?

you need to come with more speed and try not to play too much with the elevator!!!

  • where did you buy it or you made it your self

  • WOW ... again Mr. Hempel! Yet another great save. (Just saw your one wing landing on the stunt plane.) Clearly one of the best RC Pilots out there. Great flying Sir.

  • Does it have 3 engines or only at the wing?

  • If I was a passenger in that plane I'd be throwing up big time - that takeoff was like something from the aerobatics display

  • Aloha All,,,

Can that man fly, or what... What a great job...

Sure saved turning that pile of cash, into a

pile of trash... What a talented man to get that

    monster back in one piece...

    Big

  • ouch, he did okay on the landing but I would have been much more careful and went for another landing on the runway. He dropped the plane way too fast.

  • @matt3DRC flamed out idiot.. haha which means no engines... no engines on a scale passenger jet? pretty much guaranteed to have a crash which is why this guy is one of the best model pilots in the world...

  • @chevypower1930 Ok, first off, yes, he is one of the best model pilots in the world, but I figured I could just give my opinion. Anyways, I have dead sticked my rc planes many times but I have never dead sticked a scale passenger jet and I know it would be much more difficult to dead stick. I just think that he pulled up a little too fast when he was like 15 feet off the ground and then he sank real quick because he lost too much speed.

  • @matt3DRC uhhh.. you said you'd do a go around and make another attempt? not sure how you'd do that with no power.. it'd be impressive to see though haha

  • @chevypower1930 haha, yea, my bad, I didn't know what flame out meant at the time, lol but it makes sense! have a good day!

  • @matt3DRC Flame out = engine quit

  • @matt3DRC genau so isses matze :D

  • I would definetly put a gyro or two on that plane

  • Oh DROOOOOOOOL. I would love to have this hanging from my ceiling.

  • fucking awesome plane bill you tha man

  • Its hard to tell with a 2D video but the sink rate is fast on these and the video quality does not show the height of the individual desert shrub branches and the barbed wire fence at the end of the field. Pulling elevator does bleed off speed but the plane clears obstructions and is able to fly again.

  • @AZRC001 i saw no flames at all

  • jeez... no clue how to land

  • i dont think that was so bad! all you critics! its on the ground in one piece. he could of let her float abit longer at the end but dont forget this isnt a normal trainer plane its a scale flying jet airliner and they can be fickle and unforgiving. bill hempel isnt a pro for nothing you know

  • Give the guy a break. You've got a sweptwing with no engines in windy conditons. He did damn good.

  • a real pro would of landed it on the runway lol

  • wow, nice RC Forced Approach, i bet he got kinda nervous and anxious and forced into the ground.. he could of just held the attitude at the end instead of pulling it up so abruptly

  • yeah wings seem flat

  • great landing under pressure

  • I thought the MD-11 had 3 main gear?

  • It does

  • why so much up elevator at the end. he had plenty of room. hes lucky it didnt snap down and tear the nose gear off. you cant force a plane to land..anyway glad he got it back in . he is a great pilot..

  • 'Start procedure'

  • windy as all heck out there...

  • looks tail-heavy!?

  • cuz it is

  • That is just absolutely incredible

  • wtf gig

  • Nice plane! Was it built from a kit or was it designed/built from scratch?

  • so is bill going to enter this in an imac competition too?

  • Great flying, Bill! It was dead-stick city out there Sunday with my two engine out landings and the Jet.
