  • @Potatercheep No, it's the German version.

  • act 1 is spelled wrong

  • @sspacechicken

totally. giving classic the homing attack, thus removing the most obvious distinction between both styles? gosh, what were they thinking?

  • @martooxxx

Well, to be fair, the way the Classic levels are set up, you don't really NEED to do the homing attack. I can attest that during my regular playthroughs of the classic levels, I never used the homing attack. Now in missions or aiming for S rank its probably necessary, but that's only on missions. For a regular run-through though no need.

Plus, the Classic Physics in the 3DS are A LOT better than the ones on the console.

  • what did sonic ever do to the whale that made him trying to kill sonic

  • classic sonic gets the homing attack here because dimps is the developer. Dimps's level design style is based around timing jumps and homing correctly to take the fastest route while running at high speed. this worked for rush and colors (ds) because of the boost bar and homing attack. classic sonic was given the latter because his original physics only work in genesis-style levels, based around layered levels and keeping momentum, which dimps apparently isn't smart enough to pull off.

  • I don't really see the point of Sonic Generations on DS since the sonic DS games pretty much are old school sonic.

  • @shadowspider9 no, Sonic Colors was for DS and this is 3DS

  • since when could classic sonic do the homing attack

  • @tyfan1000 after the first boss Modern Sonic teaches him it

  • The start reminds me of Neo Green Hill zone

  • Classic Homing ftw

  • The homing attack isnt forced like in Sonic 4, so its fine! If you dont like it, dont use it

  • @Pito100best: Radical Highway begs to differ, as does the end rocket section from Tropical Resort.

  • I can't beat this level to save my life. Lol.

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer neither can i, on Classic atleast

  • @ThoseCrazyGuys131 I can't beat either one. I gave up a while ago. Lol.

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer well my brother actually beat classic for me, and i got the Blue Emerald

  • I saw homing attack 0:17 :O

  • @soniczeki2 Same, saw it and that was Classic Sonic instead of Modern Sonic. I'm guessing they allow that on 3DS Version. And it would feel a lot like Sonic Adventure.

  • @soniczeki2 yay after you beat classic era classic sonic earns the homing attack

  • I'm sorry to be mean but where the duck is Modern Radical Highway

  • thanks for posting this awesome footage!!!

  • too fucking epic!

They even added the part where he runs on the wall!

  • God the jump seems much better then in the Console Version!

  • @Ken0029 - its also on XBLA....if its on psn, its on xbla(sonic-wise)

  • Plus ppl even if they force u to use it u don't hav to press the button twice basically just don't use the homing attack then! I guess just in the parts that u need to

  • @sadiki1229 he does hav a homing attack when u get all of the red rings in classic planet wisp you'll hav the homing attack u don't hav to buy it and u cant use it in hub worlds or missions just the regular action stages

  • why doesent mclasic sonic have homing atack on ps3 and steam sweet mountain dlc for steam1!!1!!1

  • @sadiki1229 Wait, for 3DS they have Sweet Mountain?

  • Why didnt they put this stage on the PS3 version damn it! its one of my favorite maps! Thanks SEGA and Nintendo! Dont get me wrong I do like nintendo (I grew up with mario) but it is just right o recognize that the 3DS version and the console versions included really different maps so people had to buy both! I bet Nintendo payed a lot for this.

  • @kingvideo4u Sonic Adventure DX, is on PS3 (PSN) it might be because Sonic Generations got Seaside Hill which is similar to Emerald Coast, Also SA DX was prominent on Gamecube that could be another reason.

  • @kingvideo4u LOL Nintendo has nothing to do with this.

  • If Classic Sonic has the homing attack in this version, it's possibly set after the events of Sonic 3D Flickies Island,

  • @NewController01 it's unlockable, just like in console version.

  • @NewController01 Why? There was no homing attack in that game. Also, all the handheld games are on a separate dimension/timeline to the console, so effectively Flickies Island never actually happened.

  • @gamesmaster2000 yellow shield = homing attack.

    DERP

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG Lol, calm down.

It was a mostly boring game anyway. Sonic Generations 3DS is a good game but it was stupid to give Classic the homing attack, the only main difference is the boost. You can lecture me on Modern's wall jumping or whatever, but they're still too similar compared to the amazing HD version

  • @gamesmaster2000 Being boring doesn't change the fact that Classic had the HA in that game, and in my opinion while the 2 Sonics do feel more similar in this version than in the console one, it makes it feel more consistant this way. Don't get me wrong, going from 2D to 3D is awesome, but it can get a little confusing at some point

Also, you forgot the slide, the stomp, the wall jump and the less floaty jump with Modern Sonic :3

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG 'You can lecture me on Modern's wall jumping or whatever...'

    They're still too similar

  • @gamesmaster2000 "stomp, slide, wall jump"

I know, but they aren't similar enough to the point that they feel exactly the same, specially on the physics department.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG True. But it does leave Classic feeling a bit like a nerfed Modern.

  • @gamesmaster2000 a little bit, yes.

  • Classic Emerald Coast looks an awful lot like the first stage in Sonic Advance, which i find to be a nice reference considering the Advance series seems to be nonexistant to some people, they aren't talked about too often

  • @theshredder39 Yet they were brilliant... Liked the first rush game too.

  • @gamesmaster2000 yea, i always felt the problem was that fans didn't think the Advance series existed in terms of continuety so they were a bit unimportent, pretty ironic how people payed more attention to the 3D games than the 2D games at that time, the only explaination i got for that is that most of the Sonic fans at the time were really young

  • @theshredder39 Well at least the miraculous Sonic Colours came out. Before that, people kept saying Dimps should take over Sonic Team, but I always disagreed. They seem best with 2D stuff- Sonic 4 and Dimps' Unleashed weren't very good in my opinion. But I agree, the Advance games were great. What do you think about Rush? I don't really like the second one, but the first one was SUPERB

  • @gamesmaster2000

yea i would disagree about Dimps taking over, their work isn't terrible, it could be better, but it's not bad by all means, but i just don't understand the underratings twards the Advance series i mean, they play so much more like the classic Sonic games than any of the other modern 2D games, yea Advance 3 had a forced partner system but it shouldn't really kill the experience by much because the tag team tricks were completely optional

  • @theshredder39 At least they got good reviews

  • @gamesmaster2000

    Dimps did Unleashed?

Wow, no wonder it's my favorite Sonic game =D

    AWESOME

  • @Sawtje2 Well actually they only did the Wii and PS2 version, which weren't as good. It probably wasn't their fault though, the hardware limitations are probably to blame.

  • @theshredder39 In the Console version of Generations, they did that with Sonic 3, instead of making a stage to represent it, they referenced in other Classic Sonic stages, such as Seaside Hill, Rooftop Run, and Sky Sanctuary, Empire City from Sonic Unleashed was referenced in Modern's Sonic's Speed Highway.

  • @Ken00729 yea they did that with other levels in the franchise too like that one section in Crisis City that's pretty much a reminder of Sonic CD's Palmtree Panic level, but yea you're right, and what's nice that they did was that with the unlockable songs they had 3 songs each for Sonic and Knuckles and Sonic 3

  • @theshredder39 I played Classic Rooftop Run eith Flying Battery Zone song which has been remixed, which player unlocks.

  • @Ken00729 yea, i like the remixes, some people would disagree but all my favorite parts of the songs are still there so i personally have no complaints

  • @theshredder39 Yeah the advance series were awesome! But nothing tops S3&k ;)

  • @theshredder39 Sonic Advance 2 is in my top 10 sonic games lol

  • @STHbiggestfan Please.Play some decent games.

  • @SuperAwesomeTiago i love the advance titles.

  • @SuperAwesomeTiago i've played every sonic game in history, advance games are among the best

  • @STHbiggestfan Advance games are just hold right to win, except Advance 1 which was decent.

  • @theshredder39 Which is a shame. I loved the Advance series.

  • @louiejub yea, i remember Sonic Advance 1 was the only game i'd play on my GBA next to Sonic Battle and the Kirby games

  • @theshredder39 Yep! Sonic Advance 1-3 and Sonic Battle. They are pretty underrated, especially Sonic Battle. And Kirby Amazing Mirror was and still is my favorite Kirby game! =D

  • @louiejub

yea dude i remember having so much fun with Sonic Battle, my cousin and i would go nuts getting upgrades for Emerl, and i remember getting overjoyed over getting a new move for him because it was always painful when you're going through so many fights and not one of them gave you anything new, granted that's really only relivant if you get most of them anyway and it added some good amount of replay value assuming you're interested

  • @theshredder39 I know right? Although it does give it some replay value, skill collecting gets kind of tedious. XD Especially when trying to get the super skills. That was annoying, but they are super fun (and kinda game-breaking) to use. XD Still a really fun game though. But, it is kind of short.

  • @louiejub it's also unbalanced as all hell lol, but yea it was still fun regardless

  • @RemNightFal yep.

  • Why da fuck does classic sonic have homing attack?

  • @Sacredbloodshed:

    Because he freaking does?

Deal with it. Don't like it? Don't press the jump button twice.

  • @DinerSals Lol stfu smart ass I was just wondering damn. Mainly cuz I am getting both versions. I dont give a shit if he does or not.

  • @Sacredbloodshed Because Dimps are a headstrong bunch of cunts!

  • @cockshield Dimps are what? Who the hell told you that?

  • Comment removed

  • this are just my opinion but sonic generations xbox360 and ps3 look better.

  • Guys, everyone is asking if it's optional. Yes, it is. Aaron Webber, the guy that works at SEGA confirmed it. Also you don't get the Homing Attack until later in the game.

  • how come this game doesn't work in the DS?There is nothing different about it

  • @TheIsaac552 its because the this game has more memery and it has a little thing on the cart of the game so that gives it more memery

  • @TheIsaac552 this game has higher graphics

  • @TheIsaac552 Ever tried to play a PS3 game in a PS2? That's why.

  • @TheIsaac552 The DS Pixel count is Extremely low compared to the 3DS Pixel count.

  • can you do modern emarald coast plz?

  • Hmm...the level design isn't bad (certainly better than Modern's) but it makes me feel a tad sick in the stomach seeing Classic Sonic jump and a big red target marker appear especially since none of those enemies looked hard to hit without it. Eh maybe it's just me being a retrofag

  • why does classic sonic have a homing attack?!

  • @MrTheGamerDude121 I want to know, too. Is it just a power up that you can get later?

  • @px0128 aparrently you unlock it after the genesis era, and you have it whether u want it or not, it. (I found that out in another video)

  • from the looks of it, the classic levels are longer in this version

  • how's the 3d effect in this game?

  • can classic sonic lock on spring and enemies isn't that's modern sonic thing

  • This version is horrible

    Horrible level design

    Sonic Classic with homming attack

The positive of this version: the ROLL of sonic classic is better than HD version.

    But the rest is horrible.

  • @relu419 U Mad?

  • @relu419

There's an orange Homing Attack shield in Sonic 3D Blast.

  • @nman272 A powerup that lets you use the homing attack until you take damage in a 3D Sonic game =/= a move you use by pressing jump twice any time you want (after the classic era) in a 2D game

it's not just about the design bro

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE that still doesn't change the fact that you ignore it by NOT PRESSING THE BUTTON AGAIN.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG still broken :3

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE how is it broken?

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG well for starters sir, the game's in 2D. It's not exactly hard to hit enemies without it yet you can dispose of one automatically and fearlessly by just pressing A twice. And secondly, in a 3D game it's harder to aim at enemies so Sega put that shield in to make it easier yet they didn't give you it to use during the whole game. If in Generations you grabbed a yellow homing attack shield as classic but lost it if you weren't careful, that'd be a little more fair

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE I still fail to see how that is "broken". If you think pressing the A button twice makes it too easy, call me crazy, but i think you can....*gasp* NOT press the A button twice? I know, too hard to believe, right?

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG Ahhh but that doesn't stop it from being there. a move that can kill enemies automatically should have some sorta restraint. In Sonic 3K the restraint was 7 chaos emeralds and 50 rings. shouldn't just be choice weather you want to use a broken move or not~

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE Let me ask you something:

Do you press the A button twice in the classics? ....No? then why can't you do it here? Exactly.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG well I had that whole insta-shield thing going on and I did when I had shield powerups sir

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE ....In the classicS, as well as in the console version.

    Seems legit

Bottom line, you're making a tempest in a glass of water.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG nein man, I already said what I wanted to say~ not my fault I have to keep explaining myself because you keep bugging me for answers now is it c:

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE you're still overreacting over something you can avoid, which is pretty sad.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG pointing it out and suggesting a fairer alternative=overreacting? The heck? Internet's gone PC

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE "Homing attack THE GAME IS BROKEN!!" not overreacting, sure.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG never said the game was broken bro, I said classic having a homing attack he could use at will is a tad broken

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE keyword being "at will". Don't like it? Don't use it. Same with the spindash, same with supersonic, same with Modern's boost.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG already explained the issue I had bro. is this gonna be one of those arguments that goes on forever since both people have different viewpoints? those are like...the worst kinds of arguments

  • @SHADOWtehULTIMATE well you keep overreacting over nothing, brah.

    Funny channel, BTW

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG What? Yellow shield? What are you even trying to say?

  • @gamesmaster2000 you said that Sonic 3D Blast didn't have a Homing Attack, yet the Yellow Shield proves you wrong. HURP DERP

  • @relu419

    go troll elsewhere please

  • @PrimalJordan It's not trolling if it actually looks like shit. Which it does, mostly because the level design is pathetic.

  • @GooeyHeat Opinions.

  • Sounds like Jun was lazy for the 3DS soundtrack

  • Huh... anyone think that this stage reminds of First Zone of Sonic Advance 1?

  • @wj1358 It kinda reminds me of Neo Green Hill, yes. I think this level is a combination of both Emerald Coast and Neo Green Hill (Mostly Modern's version)

  • please

  • show a cutscene

  • Is it true that you can turn off the homing attack for Classic Sonic...even if not I won't use it anyway

  • @TheSaxantonio No, you can't.

You can, however, bounce on the HA chains, so the HA is completely optional.

  • Wow, that death animation is REALLY cheap. Level looks good enough, though.

Also, let's see some Classic Casino Night, once you find the time!

    Iiii'm waaaaaaitiiiing...

  • For those complaining about the homing attack...I'm pretty sure it's an optional upgrade, meaning you don't HAVE to use it. I could be mistaken, perhaps this game takes place after the console version, where at the end, Classic Sonic attempts the homing attack in the end cutscene.

  • @PikachuColoredPichu1: You are indeed mistaken. In the 3DS version, Classic Sonic learns the homing attack after you beat Big Arm in the Genesis Era and it sticks with him as a permanent skill. At the end of the 3DS version, he 'learns' Sonic Boost instead of the homing attack. And no, Sonic Generations 3DS doesn't take place before or after Sonic Generations HD Console - they're the same game for the same purpose, just done in slightly different styles that better fit the system they're on.

  • Hey Thigolf, how is the control and gameplay, and should I pick it up?

  • Can you play Modern Radical Highway, pleeeease? =P

  • im gonna prepare to hate the orca...

  • Aside from the homing attack chains this actually is a pretty good level, much better than the modern version!

From what I've seen I'd say the only bad classic level is Radical Highway (though without forced homing attack they'd all be better)

  • Reminds me of Sonic Adventure Remix (that old cancelled fangame). It's better in some ways, but Dimps should really stop placing bottomless pits where they shouldn't exist!

...And what happened to the guillotine traps?

  • The level looks good but why does Classic have the homing attack? Thats stupid

  • @NMFlemzy Because Dimps Can't make a sonic game without homming attack

  • Hi there, just wondering could you possibly re-record Emerald Coast Act 2?

Cause the quality was a little blurry, and considering these videos are more visible it would be nice to have a clean version of Emerald Coast Modern.

Don't mind if you don't want to, but it would match the way you're doing these vids.

  • This look beautiful, and very fun!

  • That whale is hungry for hedgehogs...

  • Akt 1?

  • @coolclub64 the copy of the game is german

  • @ChaosQualia ah ok. thanks for the information

  • @coolclub64 German version.

  • @DarkkirbyKRPG ah ok thanks for telling me.

  • pretty bad especially the whale section

  • Please!!

  • Hey can u upload the cutscenes I really want to see them

  • Can you play Modern Casio Night zone.. I REALLY WANT TO SEE IT
