can anyone help me, i have just bought a 1985 vespa px 125, im still getting use to the gears but, the problem is when i squeeze the clutch and select first gear the scooter pulls forward without me even releasing the clutch, is htis meant to happen? what could wrong? any help would be great
I don't own a scooter but to me it sounds like the clutch cable needs adjustment. On motorcycles the clutch plates stick especially when the engines cold, and the bike lunges forward even with the clutch pulled in. We call this clutch drag. sometimes squeezing the clutch in and out several times before starting the bike may help to prevent this. So do not fret it's a common problem with a lot of bikes even new machines. Good luck :-)
Edoardo - Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. I bought the bars from ebay maybe 2 years ago. I did see them listed on a UK vespa parts site but have been unable to find them since. If I do I will post the site here.
This is where to buy the chrome grab bars scootercenter . com

I wouldn't normally accessorize my Vespa but those chrome handles are lovely. They're very subtle and not over the top.

hello, i'm writing from italy, where are you from?
To answer your question, If the motorbike is old, used and the engine is stopped since long time may be the clutch is out of order.
The clutch plates are cemented each one to the other.
If the clutch doesn't back to normality even after several attempts, you have to open the engine and restore the function manually.
If you haven't solved until now the problem I will be more precise if you need.
Bye

Excuse my stupid question but can you get an auto version of the px or just only manual? Also what is the pedal in the footwell?
Just love the PX125 but i suppose i have to build up the miles on my ET4 lol keep up the great work?
Robin814 3 years ago
The PX range is a geared scooter, and the pedel is for the brake.
You can buy auto Vespas, but not in the PX range.
Why not buy a geared scooter anyway?you have more control with gears.
