Nokia N8 - How to Sync Gmail Calendar and Contacts (Symbian 3)

AAARGGHH! I just lost all my phone contacts. I followed these instructions exactly and I got the calendar working fine but then went to call someone and all the numbers in my phone have disappeared and they have not appeared in gmail contacts... HELP!!

I did what you did in the video, but no contacts sync-ed from my gmail to my phone, there is no contacts at all. can you help or advise please?

i did exactly what u showe in the video... however if i make any changes to my contacts in the phone.... it doesnt reflect on gmail.... but any changes made in gmail reflects immediately on phone.... ne suggestions on how to get it working ??

I find MFE contacts sync dont work that great on N8, my contacts that have muliple mobile/cell numbers only one of the the mobile numbers sync to the phone. using the syncml option do a better contacts sync job .settings > connectivity > data transfer > sync).

Would be nice to know beforehand that by default syncing will erase all contacts on phone.

@ashilo10 What do you mean by "configure the mail app through wifi"? If you mean accessing mail through WiFi then the answer is yes.

Hello, I just did the same what u did in the video. if i ad something in google calendar it comes to my phone, but the tasks on my phone do not go to Google calendar. What am i doing wrond?

@Nini246 At this time Google Tasks won't sync. Only email and calendar sync.

this is useful to get gmail working. however, I set it up wrong and cannot remove the mailbox from the phone. Any ideas?

@areavieutube Good question. The first time I was a little stumped too. It's actually not difficult though. What you need to do is the following. When the mail box is open, go to Options->Settings. Then you see a list of the mail boxes. Simply long hold down on the mail box you want to delete and and click on Delete Mailbox. That's it! @Bemap30 Cool I'm glad you like the vids. About SPB I am still using it for the most part. The reason is that I like their Favorite Contacts organizer and also I like their screen transitions. Now with NOKIA coming out with a new FW upgrade soon I'm not sure if I'll continue to use SPB. btw, I started a new blog called TheNokiaReport so check it out!

I don't really understand why don't you use N8's own email-client to read emails from GMail, it's MUCH better than that Java based GMail application you are using.
