  • @Steve564ify Hi - I made them! The nut is bone and the bridge is brass plate which I drilled and bent myself, fitted with Strat-type saddles

  • aye carumba

  • :O imagine a 8 stringed version

  • wow man great sound!

  • Thank-you! I'm working on a double neck mandolin at the moment.

  • @tinguitardotcom A double neck.? I'd love to see that. Want to build A 8/12 double myself.

  • Thats absolutely great. Making a similar thing. Is the bridge also off a bass. it looks tiny

  • my god i wasn't expecing that to sound so good great workmanship!

  • that was beutifull!

  • lol.

    That's awesome.

  • Thats awesome, the four strings make it spund like a ukulele. How much?

  • Excellent job. I wish I could have one. May I be your next customer?

  • After that presentation--I was hoping to hear a fiddle tune or something that uses the frets. Oh, well. Nice job. If you made it, you didn't say--nor how you made it.

  • I'm not much of a mandolin player I'm afraid! I built this instrument for a customer in the US. (I'm working on an 8-string version now.

  • Excellent work, sir.

  • are the chords on that the same as ukulele?

  • No - the strings are tuned to GCAE.

  • Awesome!!!

By the way, do you mean G "D" AE?

  • Sorry, yes you're right. Oops.

  • Hah, nice! I just undertook a similar project, but mine will be with a strat-type body. Did you need to truss the neck? I like the sound you get out of it.

  • Hi there,

No there isn't a trussrod in this one - if I were making an 8-string then I would add one.

  • Ok, thanks

  • Awesome idea, brilliant sound! How much did it cost you to make one of these? I'm very interested in undertaking a similar project of my own.

  • Hi there - thanks for the compliments. If you were to buy all the parts for a one-off project, it'd probably work out just under £100.
