  • awesome song, my second fav from sound awake after set fire to the hive...

just keep clear of the acoustic version floating around youtube it is terrible, this is definitely how this song should be.

  • @xShootzx The acoustic version of this song is terrible? I think not, pilgrim!

  • I feel like I'm in outer space.

  • Karnivool is great and to answer some of yalls questions if u can't find the albums online then go to one of their shows they play everywhere I've been to one of their shows and they're amazing they sell their merchandise there and they're awesome they usually stay after the show and speak with the fans

  • Was this album ever released in the US? If so, why can't I find it fucking anywhere?

  • @TheDobligator Im guessing not. Im from Canada and have never heard anything of these guys till i stumbled upon them on youtube. Just order their albums online or something.

  • @12321Walrus Well on their website it always has options as to whether you're from the US, Europe, or Aussie Land so i suppose that'd be where they release albums but I'm still yet to find any. Still, good idea about ordering them online.

  • ok third video i watched for karnivool sound awake in a row that has 5 or 6 dislikes is this just a small group of failish fags that go around disliking these?? and if so where do they live so i can obliterate them

  • @hobopobo

    OBLITERATE THEM!!! Wish I knew where those fags live . . . unfortunately I don't. :/

  • another pro underdog team of musicials showing that music isn't coming to an end.

  • i love Porcupinetree. but i have may of just found my new fav prog band here with Karnivool. this is bad ass shit

  • All i knooooooowww tuturutu, tutururu, tuturu ai ai aiaway tuturutuuu =3

  • just ♥♥♥

  • this is karnivool video, not a tool one. they may or may not have comparisons to them but lets not dwell on that. lets talk about how good these guys are!? sounds good to me

  • fucking love this song!

  • I luv Karnivool. They are the New hottest Band..... I wish I would of seen them when they came to Denver...

  • Nice sound!

  • oh, and just so ya'll know, tool's drummer is considered a master percussionist, along with NOBODY having the vocal aptitude of Maynard Keenan... tool has such long periods between albums because their music is complex and never rushed... you guys hating have no idea how amazing a band putting out an album full of 7:00+ min songs has to be and how hard you have to work to achieve it... go tool :o)

  • @simonvexed

This man speaks the fucking truth.

  • @simonvexed Obviously you're an idiot. Tool are great, don't get me wrong, but Karnivool are awesome too. (IMO Vool > Tool, but that's just my opinion). Just enjoy the music for what it is - FREAKING AWESOME

  • great song! tool-esque but nobody is like tool... the guitar riffs do resemble tool. either way, i can appreciate good music, and this is good music

  • im a better singer than ian,oh and then i wake up,....

  • I just can't stop listening to this song, it is one of the best songs I have ever heard

  • sounds like tool :}

  • ye!

  • this band is just amazing repping australia bitches luv you Ian

  • beautiful song

  • This is a awesome song!!!!!

  • Probably my favorite off Sound Awake besides Change. I ****ing love this song.

  • if i see one more FUCKING karnivool/tool comment on this...im gonna fucking kill somebody! everyone just SHUT THE FUCK UP and enjoy this musical masterpiece.

  • @MrInsignia16: Karnivool is heavily, heavily influenced by Tool. Nobody is saying they are ripping Tool off. They are just comparing the two. Tool is one of, if not the most talented band to come along in the last 50 years; it's a HUGE compliment for people to be comparing Karnivool to them in a positive way. Calm down.

  • @surfrusty12

I cannot believe I just saw someone call Tool "the most talented band in the last 50 years". What fucking planet are you on? Tool? Ummm.....Tool can probably be described as one of the most popular bands of the 90's, which makes them about ten-trillionth overall. There. I said it.

  • @jackypurts lol i disagree, but respect you for saying it. never thought id see someone ever say that lolz

  • @odcs2010

Haha, maybe I was too harsh. I like plenty of tool songs, but I just couldn't sit idly by as someone placed Tool in (presumably) the same league as Led Zeppelin or The Rolling Stones. Going a bit too far, I thought.

  • @jackypurts i got ya. i get tired of it too. i dont listen to "them" all that much(you know who) but i do like the music. but its all good lol. didnt offend me any.

  • @jackypurts Tool are better than the Stones.

  • I love the intro, it's unsuspecting of what's to come... Their voices blend so beautifully! e song so full! different tracks, it makes the song so full! Beautiful voices, beautiful instrumental! Love the lyrics as well... Would love to see an Official video for this song, as well as the others... I'm sure it's a work in progress.

  • @musicmydrug10 you can and its really good, just youtube all i know karnivool

  • @JTbassist09

the fucktard record label has now made it unavailable to Canada.

  • @taxi911 buy it on iTunes, I did

  • @musicmydrug10 there is a vid bro...... see them live its better....... life changing in my case :)

  • this song sounds abit like a CKY type song

  • more like KarniTOOL good band

  • amazing.

  • This is AHMAZING live. :]

  • Damn,this is a good song,who votes 10/10?

  • @xTGMxCrowe I agree Wholeheartedly. Perfect song, lovely perfection. Grateful to be alive to hear it.

  • @SariaChord0TouchWeb Yeah,that's true.

  • @xTGMxCrowe i leave a like ;D

  • whos the rejects that compare a no name band to tool and who uses the term fanboy WTF there a great band but only bend around for a few years

  • @Valllick Time is of no relevance. They don't sound exactly like them, or close really. In my opinion it's mostly the singer. During some parts you can't deny he sounds like Maynard. If you can't realize that, get your ears checked out.

  • @Secnateb oh sorry i thought people were trying to make fun of tool or somthin and say this band is better im just bored and what to ad more tool karnivool comments keep it going get it

karnivool is a great band with its own style this one track sounds just like tool i guess thats why i was just wondering why everyone was comparing tool to this band cuz all the other Karnivool songs have there own style there a great band keeping rock alive

  • @Valllick All good. Both good bands. I prefer Tool though. Some of Karnivool's stuff sounds too nu-metal for me.

  • @Secnateb Nu metal was a stupid genre they made simply to clump in bands that can be summed up by hard rock and metal. Besides, how in any way does it resemble that? Sure it['s just as unique, but it's far more progressive rock.

  • so are you suggesting that the length of time a band has been around determines the quality of the music?

  • Tool fanboys are so annoying. I bet they even irritate Tool themselves.

"Oh, you just don't understand Tool" Shut. The. Fuck. UP.

And Tool was my favorite band after Lateralus came out.

  • wat the hell is lucidi ophthalmology !

    gross pics

  • did TOOL came first, or was it this band?

  • Ok...does he say cruel witted mind or mime?

  • @Secnateb cruel witted mind is what he says

  • @Secnateb mind

  • OH MY GOD FUCKING AMAZING- ( said that because every kid on here uses amazing on here for everything :) )

  • aussie aussie aussie

  • In MY opinion, tool is a very boring band. The singing is monotonous and the instruments have much less feel to them. I also prefer Karnivool's previous album, although the two albums have a different feel to them all together. This is no troll, nor a flame to start an argument. I'm simply stating what I believe to be the better of two bands that are, for a reason unknown to me, are being compared.

  • this song is pure brilliance the rest of the album sounds intriguing i can't wait to hear the whole thing

  • It seems like so many are forgetting the real reason we have music in the first place. Maybe you could benefit from shutting up and just listening for a change.

  • Okay, everyone!!

    Tool are Tool.

Karnivool are Karnivool. The end. IT'S THAT SIMPLE.

  • karnivool and parkway drive are they best bands of australia- who agrees?

  • I can hear a big Tool influence on this song in particular

  • i love karnivool and porcupine tree is quite awesome too. also check out minus the bear, daath, milla jovovich music and attila- rage.

  • This is good stuff for sure. I don't think to many in canada know about these guys at all.

  • AUSSIE BANDS KICK ASS!!

  • very tool sounding

  • this is a badass song!!!!!

  • Discovered them just a few days ago... Damn, I like these hidden jewels!

  • This sounds exactly like Tool. That's not a bad thing. The guitar effects are identical. The odd time signatures for some of the songs. The math rock feel. The attempt to emulate Danny Carey. It's not bad but it's a copy of an album that's already been made, Lateralus.

  • @Illustratos Are you serious? Karnivool are not copying Tool, they don't actually sound that similar, and certainly not to the point where accusations of plagarism should be taken seriously. I suggest you and anyone who agrees with you to listen a little harder, and more importantly to respect these bands for what they are, and not degrade them for perceived similarities. Karnivool rock.

  • @callumpassells67 I never said plagiarism. You can't plagiarize a style of music. I like the band and I do have respect for them. You're obviously a fan and you should chill when someone brings up the obvious point that the sound and style are nearly identical. I'm a fan of Tool's music. I simply pointed out that creatively, Carnivool is back pedaling playing music that sounds like something that's been done already and by a better band. Their next album will sound like the last tool album I bet

  • @Illustratos no definately not. Tool have always been one of my favourite bands, karnivool have a similar atmospheric feel fair enough but karnivool are much more talented musicians and the fact that both of their albums have completely different feels to them will make them appeal to a wider audience in the long run. I think in one or two albums time this band will be absolutely huge worldwide. We're just waiting for that one single which will break the barriers and develop them into giants.

  • @aformidablefoe The fact that you're saying that any drummer in the world is better than Danny Carey is just laughable. He, essentially, has 12 limbs (six arms and six legs). Neither Karnivool nor Tool are better or worse than eachother. It's like apples and oranges. Impossible to compare.

Your musical ignorance is showing. You may want to hide it.

  • @TheMightyHeffer did i mention anything about danny carey? nope. he is an amazing drummer, one of the best, i only said that overall karnivool are better and more ambitious musically. all credit to both bands. both very unique and very, very good bands with distinctive styles of their own.

  • @aformidablefoe Yeah see the part where you're saying that Karnivool is better than Tool....yeah that's just incorrect. They're both great, but there's no way that Karnivool is better. Someone doesn't understand Tool.

  • @TheMightyHeffer Saying that no drummer in the world is better than Danny Carey, whilst being an amazing drummer, is just closed-minded. Ever heard of Mike Portnoy? I don't even like Dream Theater that much but he is AMAZING.

And these Karnivool/Tool comparisons piss me off to death, every song on youtube! Tool and Karnivool are my favourite bands, if you had ears you'd realise they sound NOTHING alike, bar odd time signatures and perhaps Jons wandering bass style. They both are amazing, end of.

  • @ALBTE i agree with you, but whats also is getting annoying are the Karnivool is Karnivool and Tool is Tool comments. Yeah we know.

  • wow, awsome song

  • listen to TOOL instead, way better! :)

  • sounds very much like butterfly effects singer.

  • One of the most amazing bands I have seen live, and one of the most amazing bands I have ever heard.........end communication

  • hell yeah I like porcupine tree!

  • I love this song, been watching the Bleach Anime recently and I reckon this would work really well as an AMV for it. The lyrics work well too. We need to support Aussie artists more than we do, too much American music here.

  • this song makes me want to cry and scream but its also weirdly sexy... love it!

    these guys were amazing live!!!

  • and is the end of all i know

  • grande karnivool ....un sonido nuevo y pensado ...

  • these guys owned the Big Day Out here in Aus....AWsum Band!!!

  • Brilliant!

  • Comment removed

  • Truely awesome! Does anyone know if/when they are coming to the states?

  • yeah....they are coming to my home town,AUGUSTA GA, this march...playing with fair to midland and my fiance's band, suns collide. I cannot wait!

  • Why do you mark this as spam? Two truly amazing bands, Karnivool and FTM.

  • Fantastic song

  • wherever you guys go. I will follow.

  • seriosuly guys dont listen to ruubs bitch tit.. he has been on every karnivools video talkin shit.. so i know he likes it.. he or she is just fag sack... but anyways cant get enough of this brilliance!!! true musicians

  • Does anyone have the guitar tab for the acoustic version of this song? Could you post a link or message me?

  • STarts in Am... goes to Em

    chorus is

    AM,Em, d, am

c, em, d, am... hope that helps

  • hey man, thanks for the reply.

After playing around with it I think it starts on Em...then goes to Am.

    then chorus is c, em, d, asus2...

i just wondered about the voicing and little notes and licks and shit for the acoustic version..if there's any awesome tabsters out there who feel like giving it a crack it would still be awesome to know.. cheers.

  • is it in vool tuning (BF#BGBE) or normal?

  • check my tab of the song on ultimateguitardotet. I usually play the song in the Vool tuning but you can play it in standard as well

  • no i meant the acoustic version, sorry

  • I like Ian Kenny's voice because he can sing AND he sounds human - you can hear the imperfections which just makes the emotions sound more real.

  • they were great live a fantastic band

  • I acknowledge that we are all entitled to our opinions whatever they may be. But when commenting, bear in mind as to what you have done with your life...

Having said that, I do like their style and appreciate the hard work and effort that goes into producing the music. Now I will get this on iTunes because they deserve my money :)

  • Amazingly crafted. I love the weird guitar/synth line that plays throughout the song. And Kenny sounds AMAZING, and if you really think he sounds like a "battered house wife, you're crazy.

  • Had some experience with "battered house-wives", hey? Sounds to me like your musical taste could use a battering. Ian Kenny did a great job with this song.

  • just absolutely hate the end of the song , over the top , he hasn't got the voice for it !

  • better than wat you can do

  • absolutely love this song

  • This in my opinion is the best song on the Album! Amazing voise the singer has, Keep it up kaarnivool!.

  • ahhhh love this song!!!!

    im seeing them at bigdayout

    its going ot be amazing!

  • Comment removed

  • ...cada dia mas cerca, nunca demasiado lejos...

  • favourite song!!! ian kenny has such a great voice!

  • great song

  • Oozes talent.

The whole album is a brilliant journey.

    An ambient masterpiece.

  • another great band from australia :)

  • Ha i ordered a copy from australia.. trust me worth the extra $

  • im from australia!!! XD

i get to see them at big day out 2010 :O:O:O:O:O

  • Love the new album just as much as I loved Themata. Can't believe I have to wait until 2010 to get it in the U.S. though.

  • i love this song so much

  • The vocals sound a bit like cynic at ponts, love it!!

  • "distortingjack" I agree with you completely.. there old stuff is way to nu metal kinda korny at times.. they are really showing there talent on this album.. great great band we need more like it!

  • i have to agree on this. they have matured greatly as musicians, and their new stuff is definitely great stuff. their old stuff really reeks of "bandwagon", something i can´t blame them for (we have a "sounds like meshuggah" bandwagon going on that even i am guilty of being part of. i´m breaking loose again now though). i don´t see how someone can give you a thumbs down for stating that they have matured as artists and risen from the ashes. i gave you the thumb back up. it´s neutral now :P

  • Wait, by old stuff, are you referring to Themata?

  • I just found this band. I don't like their previous stuff (too nu metal and thus a bit dated) but this is a lot more elegant and intelligent. Great stuff.

  • love this song and the band

I still think tool is better though

  • I've always loved how well composed Karnivool's songs are, even better that they're from Perth as well. ^^

  • This is a great song. Very like tool. I'm big on this band,.

  • I reckon this is 100% 'vool, but I can see where you're coming from though

  • I love this new cd by Karnivool. every single one of their cd's has never let me down. When I met Ian, we asked him if Change was going to have the follow up. I love that THemata is loud, aggressive and heavy and that Sound Awake is soft.. Love it.. Karnivool ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I wouldn't say that Sound Awake is less hard, I think that it takes a bit more of a progressive turn than the more aggressive sound of Themata.

  • 8000th view woot

  • favourite band, awesome song.

  • The reason people don't like karnivool is cause they are more main steam now. as aposed to tool are no where near main stream!

  • Are you serious? How many hours of airtime does Tool get on the radio? What country do you live in? Must not be the U.S.

I've yet to hear Karnivool on the radio once but I hear Tool all the time. :\

Anyway, why does someone have to mention Tool on every Karnivool song here? They're two completely separate bands with a few similarities.

  • @VoidOfsPg first thing- yes I agree two differant sounding bands. I live In Austraila and there is a radio station called Triple J. They play heaps of underground music which of couse makes Triple J unpopular to many people. Triple J play new music, not much old stuff. Tool was played on Triple J back when they had new releseses same as Karnivool.

  • New Karnivool Album is disappointing. :( I liked their Themata album so much more. Just my opinion, Ohwell. Was waiting for this album for a while.

  • the beginning of this song with the bass reminded me of schism by tool. but i love this band, and it makes it even better that they are australian. aha

  • Say it once more!

    Say it again!

    That this is the end

    Of all I know

  • yes, yes, yes, how fucking good is it.

  • amazing :)

    i love the lead singer's voice :)

  • best bands ever, top song too

  • fuck yeah love it karnivool rocks good aussie band gonna go buy this tomorrow

  • My favourite song on this album... I flipping love it so much... I really hope they sing it when I go and see them!

  • jus found out bout the new album does anyone know if it has been released or when it is coming out

  • which country do you live in? If Australia its already out :P

  • man upa nd go to the cd shop son

  • one of the siclest fuckin band to come out of australia

  • sounds like change (part 1) from Themata (the intro part).

  • yummy

  • karnivool...karnivool...karnivool...accept them before it destroys you!!!

  • effing awesome band. love them
