Biggest difference, Dir en Grey puts much more dark emotions when they play live or recording. I've been to both lives, but I have to be honest, Dir en Grey is much more breathtaking, and d'espairsray interacts more with the audience, which is good, but I felt that it killed the mood they could've given. O_o Either way, I love 'em both. C3

i like both bands, but dir en grey's vocalist has much more vocal range the hizumi and the current direction despairsray is heading towards more pop while dir en grey towards metal.

as a fan of both, i agree. It's like comparing TOOL to something between Disturbed and Manson. I guess i just see Diru as something deeper and darker, and Despairs as a more general angst. Diru is less rock and more ROAR!!!

@FunkyMonkeyVibration I love both, this album is fairly similar to Withering to death. though. They don't sound exactly alike or anything, but it's definitely a valid comparison with those 2 albums. Later and earlier Diru sound nothing like this though.

Well, I like Dir en Grey AND D'Ray...because those were the really first J-Rock-Bands I've listened to and I discovered some other great music because of them...^^

But of course you can't force anyone to like a band only because it's one of the most known ones...

Just enjoy the music you like...for example this song here...I love Garnet *-*

Their music has changed a lot since they have recorded this thing^^. Now they aren`t so much ''visual'' like before and their music is more calm` but I like them ever more ;]. If u want something like Garnet check out Dir en Gray ;P.
