@martynhenrystyles I think that it does actually have traction control - if you go to 1:20, as he exits what I think is Brooklands you can hear it a bit - you can also hear it a little out of Abbey and out of Luffield. Either Alonso is very careful with the throttle, or the TC is set very low.

Obviously he did the right decision to go for Renault testdriver in 2002. If he wouldn't have done that, he would be probably driving Toro Rosso today.

flavio was the one who got him the drive with miniardi to get some racing exprience. flavio knew alonso was special thats why he managed him from very early in his career.

well piquet was a big talent in lower racing series. he was seen a a future star in f1. he finsihed 2nd to hamilon in 2006 gp2 . but when he got to f1 thats when he lost it all..

19 years old alonso outpaced his team mate tarso marques in qualy in all 01 gps except in malaysia...and he used to beat him by a margin of 1.5-2 secs...he did some brilliant races with minardi, for me the best was suzuka 01 finishing 10th of cars ahead of frentzen and panis including overtakings to both...alonso hadnt any sponsors or friendships in f1, he earned his place with hard work proving himself to everyone until he reached the top, thats why i admire him so much

sorry, i tried to say that in suzuka 01 he finished 10th of 17 cars that finished the race...one of the best results minardi had ever...webber 6th in 2002 was great too but it was a little more lucky, it was race with a lot of dnfs

MclarenMercedes - I disagree, Minardi was unreliable, but , from a field of 22, he finished with a high of 10 and low of 17, finishing 9/17 races- in a minardi!!! He outquallied both Benettons 2 times I think and in Australia 2001, outquallified Tarso Marques, Teammate, by 2.6seconds.
