  • Nog-WHERE-uh...?

  • I have no idea what I'm watching.

  • 8 people got their arms broken by Frank Mir

  • I wonder if these two guys discussed the proper pronunciation of Nogueira's name before they made this, because you clearly hear Kesting saying his name correctly. Great video, but It's kinda distracting hearing that repeatedly

  • nagwarow

  • i like how the leg over the head is not considered the 'traditional' kimura position, however this is exactly what kimura himself did to helio in what was the origin of the name for the submission :D

note i'm not having a go, i just find it interesting that the 'kimura' is quite different from kimura's technique (elbow lock vs nowadays shoulder lock) :)

  • very nice. I'm brazilian, but I'm a big big Mir fan

  • Nogwara and Kimera? Seriously?

  • take off, aye? I'm just starting to really catch the accents, lol...I've been too involved with learning to let it in. Awesome channel, Stephen, I really appreciate all the time you put into the arts.

  • 1:09 very wrong. Mir set that move up if you watch it very closely. Nog kicked mir for the first time and Mir timed the second one and kicked nogs leg, and thats how they got to the ground. Overall very well job by both of you just plz work on positions a little more, because little left or right makes big diffrent.

  • What's the brand of the Thai heavy bags in the back? :D

  • Awesome idea with this type of commentary! Hope to see more!

  • that is not real fighting! that is just Gay play

  • @gekiryudojo

    You're a fucking idiot.

  • @magx01 Your Gay

  • @gekiryudojo

It's "you're," not "your," you fucking simpleton.

  • Nog rocked mir, he should've kept it standing.

  • @momay69 Then Mir would have escaped.

  • @BeatRider44 Mir does not have the best chin, Nog would've knocked him out if he kept it standing. Check out mir's loses all were by knock outs.

This fight does not even matter, both fighters are not in Dos santos level.

  • @momay69 he lost to lesnar by tko

  • @b212181 Bottom line is that mir can't take a punch. Nog should've kept it standing.

  • @momay69 true

  • @b212181 Bottom line is that mir can't take a punch.

  • @b212181 Bottom line is that mir can't take a punch. Dude got knocked out by brandon vera.

  • You have to be PhD to do that!

  • The humerus broke two inches above the elbow.

  • you guys are awesome

  • big nog cannot ejaculate his penis hahha

  • MORE VIDS LIKE THIS! THIS IS REALLY GREAT!

  • thanks for sharing this!

  • ood job guys but just fyi it was a broken arm

  • it's pronounced NOOO-GEIII-RAAA

  • 7:14 "i hope your rotator-cuff has great elasticity"-look

  • Kesting put on a lot of muscle somewhat recently?

  • Stephan and Ritchie,

I really enjoyed the enthusiasm in the breakdown. I found the video to be informative, and the length of it was good too. I'm looking forward to future breakdowns of MMA's fights.

    Thanks,

    True Grit Jiu Jitsu

    Grit Teeth and Roll!

  • 7:15 Determination personified..!

  • Just saw the X-ray. Looks like a clean break at least. Will hopefully heal properly. Spiral fractures can be much worse.

  • it was the arm

  • you guys are amazing btw because of that fight and that kimura im gonna be stained for life. its just i thought kimura wasnt that good of a submisiion really but after this .. im never gonna be the same again :D

  • Really great video about an amazing fight, but am I the only one who laughed at 7:16? That shit killed me. I think it was the look on Stephan's face, so funny.

  • @Easy11019 LMFFFFFFAAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOOOO aaaaaaaaaahhaahhaahhahahahahahahahahaahhaahaaaha !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @AdminTheKing Haha Thank you! I thought I was the only one who thought that was funny.

  • @Easy11019 LMFFFFFAAAOOO ROFLMAO, dude you are the funniest SOB alive. I can barely type this shit Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

  • @Easy11019 That was the look of a man that was going to BREAK SOME SH*T.

  • Awesome breakdown!

  • 8:44 HAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA!!!

  • without the actual fighting.. this seems a bit gay.

  • @hd92122 It's only gay if they make eye contact, it's a rule.

  • Excellent breakdown guys. Thank you for your hard work.

  • Great analysis guys!! Thx.

  • nogweira

  • 7:16 great cut scene

  • like the new fan page on faceb00k!

  • the Gracie breakdown is better

  • This good vidio help me with hitting i done know how i do good..runninggg ^.-0 :(P

  • Wow awesome! How did you get cro cop to do a video with you?

  • Nice... I'll see about getting our coach, Carlos Catania, to make a video somewhat like this. He actually was Frank Mir's training partner under Sergio Penha in Las Vegas. Great job explaining it!

  • wow this is the best breakdown of a fight I've ever seen, good work!

  • 7:16 kestings 'cold steel' look! haha amazing!!!!

  • 7:16 HAHHAHAHAHAHHAHA

  • nice breakdown, thanks. More please!

  • Just watched this and the gracie breakdown. I don't think i could understand the fight anymore lol

    Thanks for posting

  • You two suck. Gracie breakdown is more accurate.

  • Appreciate the vid Stephen/Ritchie!!!

  • That was some scary stuff possibly career ending when you factor in how old Nog is and the damage he has taken...

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome technical breakdown. Pleazze keep em coming. Would it be asking too much if you also post a drill (perhaps a chain -flow drill) as a spin-off to one these MMA fight breakdowns ?

  • Keep em coming!

  • This is FASCINATING! Please do more play-by-play analysis like this!

Mir and Big Nog are probably the best jiu jitsu players in the UFC heavyweight division right now. What a fight! God, just imagine when Barnett and Werdum get in the mix!

OK, my nerdgasm is over. Thanks.

  • @JaxenChaz I miss bj penn :(

  • Great work guys! We don't see enough post fight analysis of this caliber. Please team up again.

  • Nice!

  • awesome

  • It was an arm fracture. Renzo Gracie posted the X-ray on his facebook page yesterday. Super nasty.

  • Well done, guys. Good breakdown of the fight. I'd like to see more like this.

  • awesome video stephan, felt like i got to actually watch the fight but with an even better understanding

  • Nogueira should have done like he did against Schaub: throwing punches on his head until the referee stops the fight, he made a mistake going for a submission.

  • Excellent work.

  • So long as you keep uploading clear and useful breakdowns to awesome moves like this, you will have my subscription forever Stephan.

  • great video thanks

  • 7:16 LOL thats worth a thumbs up my friend.

  • Nogueria had the control, especially after couple of punches connected, but for some reason he wanted to submit Mir, which was the horrible decision... and his pride pay the price...

  • Comment removed

  • yep could do more for me!

  • "...and this is where it gets really interesting!"

awesome video guys, keep up the good work.

  • Very nice breakdown!

  • MAN I LOVE YOUR VIDEOS!

  • Great video!!! Pronouncing Nogueira's name correctly would've taken some of the fun out of it! :)

  • Excellent! Thanks for the breakdown!

  • 7:17

  • Yes, sometimes the humerus will give up before the shoulder, very nasty

    Good breakdown, cheers from brazil

  • Nice breakdown. Not sure if it was posted here yet but it was not the shoulder. It sure looked like it and normally it would be but there are pictures of Big Nog's x-ray, he broke his humerus right above the elbow. Very nasty submission and very rare for the damage to occur where it did.

  • @TheFalseFacts Spiral fracture? Shit..

  • You are saying Nogueira wierd.

  • beautiful breakdown!!! Nogueira shoulda jus tapped out, he new there was no way to get out of it.

  • Hello Stephan, at min. 1:12 you say Mir take Nogueira down, but you didn´t see how it was done, let me tell you, Nogueira was throwing knees to Mir midsection, at the second knee Mir times the movement and with his leg trips the Minotauro leg and at the same time pushes the forehead of Rodrigo backwards and that´s how he take him down.

  • Smashing breakdown of events, look forward to the next one. Many thanks!

  • What great job breaking down this fight Stephan!!! Keep up the good work!

  • ♥ This is fantastic. Things happen so fast in the fights, that it's easy to blink at the wrong time and find yourself saying, "How did they get from there, to there?" Love the breakdown, and I'd love to see more of this.

  • This submission was almost as impressive as that flying armbar that Tank Abbott did recently.

  • @123gwf wait? what? are you for serious?

  • @123gwf whoa man are u kidding or for real, where can I see that?? thx :)

  • love the breakdowns! keep em up. graciebreakdows are also very good.

  • Great breakdown ! I've read some of Stephans articles in Black Belt Magazine , Smart and talented instructor !

  • Is it the "critical" or the "crippling" mistake at 9:05?

  • Seriously, more of this. The idea of breaking down such a great fight like this is brilliant. Please, please do more like it.

  • noguiera why oh why go for the guillotine when raining down punches would've made the ref stop the fight.

  • @richnin IMO, he was trying to make a statement. The Noguiera bros. are very proud of their Jiu Jitsu and Mir has never been submitted. Big Nog was trying to be the first to sub Mir. Irony, it seems, had other plans.

  • I wanna have a grappling match with Kristen Stewart!:D

  • I so wanna hear more from you

  • Like the Gracie Breakdown. Lots of good details. I like the different view points here. Thanks.

  • Awesome vid guys, Wish I could go to both of your Schools! Thanks! =)

  • As people that watch MMA, maybe you should learn their names. Noquero? noqwerra?

  • Very cool thanks

  • that is one hell of a break down....

  • Great stuff, thanks for taking the time to break it down for us guys.

  • The position of Frank Mir's body during the Kimora is more of a Catch Wrestling style as taught by Billy Robinson and others of that era.

  • Great breakdown!

  • Awesome breakdown. That finish was sick and made me feel sick too!

  • do this more

  • who's nogwera? lol

  • You got the final finishing position for the Kimura a little wrong - Mir's right thigh was over Nog's head, but Mir had very heavy chest to chest pressure as well. He wasn't posting on his elbow as you show. Mir's legs were sprawled to keep that chest pressure, and he used his right leg to drive to create extra leverage for the arm break.

  • wow,very interesting,i´d appreciate mor of those videos :)

thanks for the breakdowns of fights

  • Good info, but the "Nogwerra" thing is killing me.

  • @beltjones1 yeeeah but they are Canadian so you gotta give them some slack if you like what they are talking 'aboot'

  • @Dave2713 All Canadians talk like that, because even though Canada's bigger than the US, it doesn't have regional accents, right? Makes perfect sense.

  • @Deetviper sorry, studying the regional dialects of Canada is aboot as pointless as trolling harmless replies on Youtube.

  • @beltjones1 Give him a break. He's Canadian and doesn't know any better. :p

    ♥ ya Stephen

  • arm broke, xray and camp statement was released earlier

  • The type of nice grappling that we can rarely see in the UFCs in recent years!! I'm sick of the recent UFCs - it's mostly about kicking and punching! I like early UFCs - from 1993-2005 period approximately!!

  • Nice fight situation study.

  • thanks stephan:) .. you should more of that "review videos"!

  • More UFC vids!

  • awesome breakdown! love it, you should do more of these!

    cheers from Norway.

  • Ritchie's inability to pronounce Nogueira is... annoying.

  • @PessimiStick Your inability to understand the point of this video is astonishing.

  • @siaosiaochin I understand the point of the video. That doesn't make it any less annoying.

  • @PessimiStick You clearly don't if you care so much about his pronunciation.

  • @siaosiaochin The two concepts are completely unrelated, but thanks for being stupid!

  • Comment removed

  • @PessimiStick They're not, it's just that you're too much of a pussy you inbred.

  • thx for this video
