The intestine choke is not very popular in grappling competition. I think it was last attempted in the brazilian Judo nationals, where it scored a victory.
LOL! LMFAO! LMFAOO!!! WOOHH!!! That was cheap... WE DIE TOGETHER!
*pulls intestines out*
ALL RIGHT! YOU GOTTA LOT OF GUTS OSCAR! Lol. I'd just diarm his knife, reach for his stomach rip it out, and put the acid in his eyes... Then grab his heart and pop it.
Good clip, but not too terribly realistic. Lifting a man with one hand after starting the throw with the other requires too much strength and will get you hurt, especially with that momentum. The first part of the throw before he picks the guy up is correct more or less, though. Hollywood - always trying to be as cool as Shaolin - and always failing.
Or in this case, something cheaper than Hollywood. Lol. Besides, there's much more painful, letalone quicker ways to disable the opponent, letalone kill them in that situation. Movies like this are boring from the eyes of anyone who truly understands the techniques. Can't moviemakers even attempt to do what Bruce Lee did? I guess that's asking too much.
you are questioning the guys throw, after the other guy attempted to strangle him with his internal organs? You have your priorities out of whack my friend.
The fact that he threw the man isn't the issue. The issue I pointed out is that the throw is completely unrealistic and that the lack of realism was not too unexpected, since this is a typical "kung fu film".
typical in the fact that he tried to strange a guy with his guts?
This si clearly not a great basis for an argument about typical "Kung Fu films" as you put it as it is an explotation film, created purely for its violence and realism takes a back seat. And you keep talking about Hollywood, when this is hollywood either.
cont: So, yes, you still have your priorites wrong as you try to asess the moves used in a film that is not trying to be realistic. Its like critisisng a kids colouring book for being bad art.
That doesn't make me wrong; it just makes me a harsh critic with high standards. Is there anything wrong with someone who's been a practitioner of Shaolin wanting to see some real martial arts in a film? I mean come on - at least Bruce Lee tried.
I agree with you fully, I just don't like critisism used out of context. As an out of Practise (AKA overwieght) Tai Chi practitioner and a writer director it pains me to see floppy shit all over the place. Need I bring up The Tuxedo, a slap in the face to the movie business and all Martial arts across the board.
I just don't see that here, I see a bit of a laugh.
True. While they are outrageous, these movies, especially to those with a good amount of martial arts experience, are outrageous in another sense; they are outrageously funny (absurdist humor).
By Hollywood, I was using the term in the sense of the movie industry, not necessarily the industry based specifically in Hollywood. Of course this isn't Hollywood - this was produced elsewhere. Lol.

Dailogues best mind, when the guy tries to choke him with him large poop tube, he shouts at him, YOU'VE GOT GUTS!. Lol
thisisliveuk 4 years ago
Actually, if you are a practitioner of Shaolin Kung Fu, I expect your idea of "real martial arts" matches the movie Riki-Oh pretty closely.
