  • thank you Dave I HAVE LEARNED MANY THINGS JUST WACTHING IN YOUTUBE KEEEP GOING

  • Forgot the 1/4 inch in on the throttle.

  • is that a cessna 182

  • @UKRAINERULES253 Its a 172. A 182 has a variable pitch propeller. The 182 has a Blue knob to adjust the propeller.

  • the key look like a bathroom key....

  • its not a bad tutorial

  • expertvillage: how to dig a hole to china

  • damn, i want to be a pilot when i grow up, but this is a whole shit load of stuff to do just to start the airplane. i guess it gets easier as you do it more.

  • @tredub91 haha it's not really that much :) if you have a passion for flying, then it's just all in a days fun :D

  • thanks alot! now i will steal my neighbors cessna! hahaha!

  • @astratasos if ur life depended on it u turn the engine on and take a pedal to the floor and hoppe u take of

  • @jaggernutox well if you hit the pedal supposedly the right since most cars have the throttle pedal to the right he would go left butttt if he gets it started idling he would sit like a log....

  • "our seatbelts are on" HAHA

  • I cant remember all this even if my life depended from it......

  • awsome man!:D

  • Old engine ?

  • well all startups are different depending on the aircraft

  • Where's the clutch ?

  • When I was In St. Charles I met this guy. He told me in a bar one night that this video is filled with dangerous suggestions. He said anybody attempting to fly a plane like this stands an awful good chance of damaging the engine.

  • why are the flaps at full?

  • @mattb609 because part of the preflight includes lowering the flaps to check them. they arent brought back up until after the engine has started.

  • @joeymuffarco69oh i see because i am flight training in the Cessna 162 and the flaps you do by hand instead of electric flaps . thanks

  • are you a pilot

  • we to lol

  • Which plane is that?

  • I went through this exact procedure yesterday(January 29,2011) before going on an introductory training flight through a flight school named ATP(Airline Transport Professionals) which operates out of Riverside Municipal Airport in Riverside,C.A. Looks and sounds very familiar! Neat video!

  • i memorized this so.. when the world ends in 2012 i can steal one at the airport lol

ill worry about flying and landing latter lol

  • @MaTchBoOkPoEt steal an iphone and watch it while the landing 1 when ur landing.

  • Its almost like starting a maclaren f1 !

  • I'm from the hood! I can hotwire that bitch faster than all that mumble-jumble he said!

  • what the fuck does expertvillage not have

  • @ShotQuick " How To fuck "

  • Rule #1 in a zombie movie...engines never start first time, turns out this is actually true.

  • 5 people stalled the engine </3

  • Dave's voice is just badass

  • In Soviet Russia, Engine starts you.

  • Engine always starts the first time in Flight Simulator X! lol

  • im 13 and i wanna be a commercial pilot

  • im only nine how can you have guns or shoot or like kill somebody

  • im only 9 so i am learning how to

  • anyone see a problem in that segment, I was always trained when I was going to start an airplane you would alway put the key in first before you go through the check list. I alway put the key in first then do the preflight usually when you put the flaps down for the preflight. I do not know maybe it just me, but this is the way I always tought my students.

  • @av8tore71 Yeh, Im currently a student pilot, I guess everyone does it differently, I place the key in the ignition before going through my checks. I did however once or twice, go through my checks and once I primed the engine prior to cranking I realized that I didnt have the key in the ignition haha..so yes I learnt the hard way. So as you can see I place the key in the ignition before anything else! :)

  • @av8tore71 No the key goes in last...When you need to actualy turn the engine over,

Why would you risk having the key in there until it's needed???

Not the correct way to operate an aircraft .

  • anyone see a problem in that segment, I was always trained when I was going to start an airplane you would alway put the key in first before you go through the check list. I alway put the key in first then do the preflight usually when you put the flaps down for the preflight. I do not know maybe it just me, but this is the way I always tought my students

  • Do modern planes use fuel injection?

  • @mackat4ck

Yes they do. Fuel Injection located on top of the engine on a 4 cyclinder on most engines.

  • Im a terrorist thanks for the information?

    ROFL!

  • @rotjesenmatjes i think the government just started tapping your phones...

  • @koalashooter1 He's dutch ;)

  • In response to some comments;

"all those buttons" They all perform a function vital for safe ops of the a/c.

"FSX" and "read books" Books and text relative to a/c ops are a must, along with a recognised flight training syllabus.

Every point the instructor makes in this video is valid and relative to safe ops.

The "knob" on the end of the mixture control disengages the "vernier" and allows full quick movement of the control.

Flightsims can assist in basic flight training.

    Cheers.

  • @kyoshero3000 actually everything he said was right, except point 6 and maybe point 1

  • Comment removed

  • AHHHH!!!!!! SO MANY BUTTONS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hey all you pilots, how do you know what all those buttons can do?!?!

  • @ValkeraPhantom We guess, the real trick is making people think you know what your doing :)

  • @oneandonlycat Uhhhh, yeahhhh. that uses safty first haha lol but my head would still implode memorizing all of the buttons

  • i fly now!!! thaaaanksss

  • what does pushing the mixture knob end do?

  • @cjellwood That lever controls the amount of fuel per amount of air enters the engine.

  • @cjellwood in is full rich, you lean the motor based on density altitude,,,thiner air less fuel needed...relax most people can learn to fly if they concentrate..my instructer told me he could teach a monkey to fly an airplane....but a helicopter- that takes skill

  • @ted850760 what I mean is the silver part on the end of the mixture knob. I think it is to prime or something like that

  • Will airplanes ever have that pushbutton start that the fancy cars have nowadays? lol Geez

  • oh.......

  • i believe this is a Cessna, but what kind of Cessna is it?

  • @austin100456 its a Cessna 172

  • full flaps, im pretty sure the switch should be up?

  • @cbarnes94 Flaps are down for preflight inspection. After engine start you raise flaps before taxi. It's in the checklist!

  • @spryguy2008 duh, but he still had the swtich down as he was starting, after the in cockpit bit before you walk around, you turn the master off and RAISE the lever, to prevent pilot error and accidently taking off with fulll flaps, and that too, it says lower 10 degrees, not 40

  • @cbarnes94 Well I thought you were a simsucker commenting on this. All flight schools don't do the same thing. I mean, it is a high wing aircraft so you have at least 3 more times you could catch the flaps being down. Have not heard of the raising the flaps back up after you turn the master off. Anyways, enough bickering, safe flying to you.

  • @spryguy2008 same

  • wwowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

  • nice.

    138 810 videos..

  • ever since i was little i wanted to become a pilot. now im 15 and can get my medical certificate!!wooo hooo! now i got to pay the 220$ hour lesson :(

  • im 14 i wanna become a pilot i havent even had any flight in my life but i really wann abe one i dont have much money either but i will hopefully be flying soon :)

  • @sezjackproductions local airfield ask around! good luck!

  • can pilot smoke?

  • @muthu161 thats a BIG negative lol

  • @Adamroks1017 sorry i cant get u.... can a pilot smoke or not?

  • @muthu161 no he can't smoke

  • @Adamroks1017 )))))))

  • how much flight time is needed to earn your wings?

  • Clear Prop! Brumm.......

  • if i were a student ,i think he was talking 2 fast,

  • @ballygeale1: No way, it must be you who listen to slow?

  • tutorial ?

  • is this the same with all airplanes??????

  • @fishingboy11 not all, this is a smal plane, but u prob coonfuse with the big ones =)

  • thanks for the info. i'm only 14 and i need to know about this in case of zombie attack or any situation................. :) :) :) :)

  • @fishingboy11 hahaha

  • oh my god thats exactly why i am training!!!i am 15!but i want to be a pilot to be prepared

  • @fishingboy11 Your a fuckin hero. :P

  • @fishingboy11 i need to know this just in case of fuckin terrorists and kills the pilots then someone kills the terrorists and i have to fly the plane which= hero which= bitches and i love bitches

  • @drewwaterz1686 u know wat i like that ideal.............

  • @fishingboy11 im 14 and i get to fly a plane for real cant wait

  • @fishingboy11 i ain't afraid of no zombie

  • @fishingboy11 always be prepared man, be prepared

  • Comment removed

  • @rimxxx go to fuckin hell u stupid bitch

  • @fishingboy11

I just thought your comment was funny dude. Chill.

  • @fishingboy11 sorry about that i was mad at my dog billy he was eating my candy and my friend said theres no one there........... and then he stared at me and i'm crazy

and i could FLY ANY THING

  • @fishingboy11 Not all airplanes start that exact same way. Lay off that flight sim and go fly a real one.

  • @fishingboy11 ahaha

  • no, just with such small privat planes like the Cessna 172 par example.

  • I'm flying Piper Cherokee 140s at school (same engine as a 172), and the startup procedure is very similar.

    CLEAR PROP!

  • cant w8 till i go to my flight school!! final year of high school baby!!!

  • lol priming reminds me of starting a lawn mower!

  • freaking gotta do alot more to start a plane rather than 1 easy step to start a car

  • If your car quits because you made a mistake you can pull over.

That's a little harder to with a plane. So you have to make sure you do things right.

  • @slapshot68 And modern cars have a computer system to adjust things and make sure the engine is working at its best. They don't have these in planes, because computers can fail.

  • Only thing I'd change based on my own experience is not starting w/ both sides of the master on, but with the battery only. The alternator from dragging against the starter while cranking (you'll notice a slight increase in starter RPM this way too). Once the engine starts, then turn on the alternator side. You should see the ammeter go from discharge to charge at the same time, ticking that box on your checklist (check charge).

  • why would u want to turn "carb heat" off on start up??

Hot air helps vapourize the fuel!!

  • The air is not hot upon cold start. Carb heat draws warm air from around the exterior of the muffler.

When starting, if you overprime, there's always a risk of backfire through the carb. Adding warm air could potentially increase this risk.

  • when an engine is cold.... the warmer the air going into the engine, the better!

Why do u think u need super rich AFR's on start up?..... because the gas doesnt vapourize well.

  • God I miss the start-up

  • i am gonna start my fathers single engine airplane.

    i am 14.

  • nice, you can fly it too hun... ask them

  • is the sim fsx realistic because im starting to learn to fly a plane and im 11

  • Is this just how to start a Cessna engine? or does this go for other planes too? thanks :)

  • It works for pretty much everything. There are just not that many different ways to get a carburated motor running. The Cessna I fly is 60 years old, but it starts the same as the video.

  • This works for most carbeurated planes. Fuel injected planes start with mixture off, and advanced only once the engine fires off.

  • how do you do it?

  • It isn't "how to start an airplane's engine", it is how to start cessna engine...

  • Why do pilots have to wear seatbelts. If the plane crashes they die even if they're wearing it. I love planes so much. I want to be a pilot.

  • So that they dont get knocked out if there is heavy turbulence

  • ok thanks

  • say for somereason your upsidedown during flight... for some reason

    i would want a seatbelt

  • okay

  • cockpits are strong !! pilots most times dont die !! thats why they wear belts

  • okay

  • Not necessarily. Turbulence (especially in a small plane) will slam you into the ceiling and possibly break your spine or neck without a seatbelt. A rough landing could easily kill you without a seatbelt. Trust me kid, seatbelts are a good idea.

  • Chuck norris doesnt wear seatbelts...seatbelts wear him.

  • @MetalJaXtA666 same in soviet russia

  • What turbulence are you flying into, a tornado?

  • No, but strong winds or a storm could easily do that.

  • thx e how thank u very much

  • Comment removed

  • I prime first. then kick on the master, saves some battery.

  • lol it would be nice but that wouldnt be the point

  • wouldn't it be nice if aeroplanes had a little keyboard where you can press ctrl+e?

  • lol yeah but it wouldn't be fun to just type Ctrl+e ^^

  • @Jet3800 and press F4 without any preparation

  • @igor19116 What?! It'll take a whole hour to get there? SLEW MODE!

  • @Jet3800 nice...

  • @Jet3800 whoops accidentally pressed shift, grrr now my cabin door is opening!

  • @Arvak777 Don't worry, nothing will happen, even if you're in a jet at cruising altitude.

  • @Jet3800 haha yes!!

  • @Jet3800 hhahaha so true

  • "of course it's not going to start on the 1st try" lol

  • just press E!

  • LMAO yeah the cheat in almost every flight simulator

  • ha lol

  • una buena manera de recordar lo que se supune aprendes en la escuela!! interesante y 5 estrellas por ser educativo!! para los pilotos novatos

  • i don t see what is the problem with just having a faucking big red onON button, i mean really why lol

  • some do, some dont. Interestingly enough, the less complicated airplanes are the ones that need keys, like this airplane. An airplane like my Cessna 414A can be started without any key. The magnetos are toggle switches, and the starters are push buttons.

  • probably because since they are cheaper, people use them like they do a car, so it is convenient to have a key for it.

  • Do you really have a 414A? I love those planes!!

  • Yes. 1982 RAM IV Cessna 414AW. N2744X.

  • Your really smart though :D talk more like most people than all this jargon some people try and do as so they sound smarter. :D

    Thank you! :)

  • im loving that purple shirt aye :D

  • how else would it start?

  • Why don't aviation engines run on automatic fuel injection, like cars?

  • because a carburettor is more reliable, and doesn't rely on electrical power to keep it working.

  • some do some dont. carbarators are good for trainers but fule injection works best on fighters and stunt planes

  • some do, Bonanza, Comanche etc. Most high performance aircraft are injected.

  • i wonder if you can hotwire a plane.

and if a military tank can run out of gas.

  • ahh this vid reminds me so much of my first Trail Intro Flight,,,, seems like ages ago now!

  • nice! i'm going for my trial flight soon!

  • his voice is soo,absorbing

  • NICE SHOES!

  • anyone know how old you have to be to learn to fly?

  • In the USA you can start flight training at any age; you have to be 16, before a CFI can solo you and 17 before a CFI can sign you off for the FAA practical flight test (checkride) KBNAKid CFI in Nashville

  • so it is possible for you to solo on your sixteenth birthday and earn your certificate on your seventeenth birthday.

  • im a sophmore in high school who wants to take a aviation science course next year on flight because ive always wanted to be a pilot, but last night i went to an open house at the school and said that if i have ADHD and take medications for it i'll be able to take the class but i'll never get a licence or be aple to fly. but say if i were to do way better than any of the other students or even the teachers....do you think theres a chance i could get a pilot licence even though i have ADHD???

  • Whoever told you that bullshit was absolutely misinformed. ADHD won't be able to prevent you from getting a pilots license, just work hard and study hard just like anybody else.

  • thanks for that
