  • That was actually too messed up for me to even laugh. O m g. I cursed out there anesthesiologist midway through the video.

  • As a veteran scrub tech in the O.R. I must say, I have never laughed so hard in my life. In my years, I have heard similiar conversations for real. Thanks!!

  • major infections. Can you find better.

  • Would you like to give me your email address -- I'll give you a list with at least a dozen MDAs who I wouldn't let anesthetize my dog. Docs who cancelled elective wrist surgery on a type II DM ASA 2 with a preop accucheck of 53. Women MDAs in Tucson who dumped cases on junior partners so they could get their friggin hair done. Are "ALL" MDA's less competent than "ALL" CRNAs? OF COURSE NOT. And ON AVERAGE, I would take an MDA over a CRNA, but it would be based on THE INDIVIDUAL PRACTIONER.

  • ...but...don't pretend to be so knowledgeable about what goes on in operating rooms around this country. Am I saying that every single hospital in the country has buffoon MDAs or SUPERCRNAs? No. But in decades of private practices, having been on full time, permanent staff at more than 15 hospitals, MY characterization of ORs and anesthesia practices is ONE HELL OF A LOT MORE ACCURATE AND REALISTIC THAN YOURS.

  • Bud, how many CRNAs have you worked with? I don't mean in a SINGLE setting, I mean IN HOW MANY PRACTICES? I've worked from Arizona to Indiana, in small towns and in major cities. I've empoyed CRNAs who put in LINES for us docs while we did cases (St. Joes in Tucson, 1995 etc), and I've worked with dishonest, barely competent MD anesthesiologists whose IV bags sat empty for 30 min while they read Boy's Life (Marshalltown, Iowa). Go ahead and be proud (ie, ARROGANT) about yourself, but ...

  • Dr Sandman, a 36 year old anesthesiologist who I'm sure has "seen it all" and "done it all." Sounds like a lot of cocky anesthesiologists out there, but then med school and residency admissions criteria have really gone downhill over the years. I have more than a decade more private practice experience than you, and if you characterize that comment as "idiotic", you are naive, inexperienced, arrogant or some combination thereof. Enjoy your tiny, protected sphere of career naivete.

  • Nice. So true. I'm an M.D., and I'll vouch for the accuracy of these stereotypes. To the CRNA below, I'd take a competent, attentive CRNA for MY anesthetic over some buffoon MDA (we all know what I'm referring to) any time.

Having said that, don't put ALL of us MDAs into that category; I may be in a (?very very small?) minority of MDAs, but I for one take my work seriously; perhaps that's part of the reason I feel so frustrated with this career.

  • @7sevoflurane

Sorry pal, but if you’re a CRNA, then I’m Ghandi. No anesthesiologist in his right mind would make that kind of an idiotic comment.

  • @DrSandmann

    Correction, if you’re an anesthesiologist....LOL.

  • "You are a doctor who is barely awake taking care of a patient who is barely asleep"! Awesome!

  • "you are an efficient, ruthless healing machine"

    bahahahahahaha
