Geoff - i do this song also. check it out. i you might get a kick out of it. i did it with a loop. it's way primative compared to yours. hehehee... BTW: what the hecks going on at 2:10 ??? love that !!
@delpuckett Hey I didn't hear much right at 2:10 but leading up to it, I was applying a relatively simple non-harmonic pattern. Any chromatic pattern can be used over any chord because the internal logic of the pattern itself takes precedence over whether or not it fits the harmony of the tune. It's an "outside" device and as with any of the sort, it needs a smooth resolution back into the harmony. This takes practice but is totally achievable for anyone in time.
@geoffstockton "I was applying a relatively simple non-harmonic pattern" - top secret stuff !?!?! :-) i'll use my ears and try to figure it out specifically ... i like the sound.
Hey geoff, sorry, but i've been trying to catch the lick you play from about 0:26 to 0:30 over the minor 2-5-1 before resolving on the ninth (eb), i'm doing it by ear and i know it's some sort of harmonic/melodic minor type thing but i just can't seem to get it right. Maybe you could help me out?
-also, sorry if my music theory was off, i'm relatively new to this, i hope you understood me
@jamie9890 I'm ascending through Ab Melodic minor in relation to the G7alt and then resolving on the 9th of the Cm7. (D) That time it worked out nicely. Partway in, I was feeling unsure of where I'd be in time to land it! If you're wondering "why Ab Melodic Minor over G7?" then check out my "Melodic Minor Modes" lessons. If you look at my video list chronologically, it'll be toward the beginning. It was one of my first few posts.
@jamie9890 Hey the response from Canarylynne is actually from me. I didn't realize the computer was logged into my fiance's account rather than mine that night. LOL

LOL Thank you. Not intentionally but I'll have to go check out the melody. I'm probably familiar with it.
