  • Haha I know this hill well. Years ago I had an old fiesta that wasn't too keen on it. Had to build up a lot of momentum before starting the climb!

  • I was looking for a review of the Sony A55 camera >.>

  • theres my car! 2:01 lol

  • We took an old minibus up this hill in second doing 25mph XD

  • Think its bad now, you should try the old road (which is still there) you wouldn't have enough ratios in your box!

  • Hialrious reading all the comments on here, some are funny, some are way to serious and some and just plain stupid!

Keep them coming. I dont have the truck any more i just have a Scania 141 instead that does 65mph every where!

  • if thats 90 miles an hour then your breaking the law mate, you should be ashamed of yourself.

  • Where did you get 90mph from? You know trucks are in general limited to 90KPH and most speedo's are again in general in KPH, well the big numbers anyway.

  • To be fair, you overtook a car and then slowed right down.

  • well when you think about it he was building up speed for the hill and as he was climbing it the truck slowed down ... im no lorry driver im 16 lol but its just common sence :D plus my dad used to be a lorry driver i used to love being in that lorry with him :)

  • i take it your not a lorry driver? Along a dual carrige way any normal driver will sit on his speed limiter some where between 52 & 56 mph. This truck did 57 so i started going up at 57mph, the car was going slower so i overtook like any other driver of any other vehicle. But when you start going up a hill in a truck with a load on gravity tends to get the better of you and you start slowing down, a bit or a lot depending on whether you drive a Scania or a Merc!!

  • Sorry, was replying to a previous comment making out like the car driver was in the way. ;)

  • @benners10

LOL. Been there, done that. Thought I saw a bicycle pass you about half way up. Did you try getting out and pushing?

  • It's Rhuallt hill!!!

  • hehe near me house

  • Buy a Scania all mercs are very poor to pull

  • alright m8. that hill is a killer. it's known by us locals as Rhuallt Hill - after the small village to the left of going towards the hill.

  • where abouts is that hill in n wales and what truck u drive

  • its on th A55. You go up heading towards chester and down towards colwyn

  • i drive a ford transit with 90hp weighing in about 3500kgs fully loaded

  • Good vid, i think its mental how it can pull all that weight at that speed up that gradient!

  • get ur self a scania it'll save u changeing gear i do it every day from anglesey aluminium in the scania no probs!!!!

  • Oh dear.

If you drop it into 8 low before you start the climb I think you'd get better results from the Actros.

'V' engines need to be kept on the boil!!

And fancy letting a Scania overtake you - should have pushed him into the ditch!! ;-)

  • god made those hills with their rain to stop the english but it didnae worked due to 550hp merc engine :( :0 :)

  • yr motor needs seeing to my old 143 450 that been done at feathers and puts out 540 will go up there at 56 the same as my 144 530 on the limiter and both at 44t not yr 39 and koln in germany is prounced cologne not koln thats how cologne is spelt in german!

  • As you drive over the bridge the sign says Koln, so thats how the Germans call it, seeing as its only us english who change the name of european towns to suit our language, i thought i'd go continental!

  • That hill is an utter twat.

  • Rhuallt hill

  • the hill is called Rhuallt hill

  • great one, love driving hills..

i use to live in middle germany and we call our hills here "kasseler hills" and we got a couple of such hills here and its kinda fun to drive them..

  • Nice one...there's some torque in those machines!

  • try going up that hill in a ford transit with 90bhp and weighing about 3.0tonnes loaded and a three axle tralier caarying another ford transit weighing another 2.0 tonnes empty plus the trailer. i did this today when i had to collect one of our vans that had broken down in bangor north wales. i went up most of the way up in 3rd and topped it in 2nd. coming down is alot more fun!!!

  • still a good video...

  • Ta

  • went up this hill yesterday in my merc 1117 fully loaded and went up with just 1 split of the box.and very little loss of speed only 50mph.the lorry will handle diffrently if you load it diffrently but thats not what i meant ..i meant that if you pull 5 ton its 5 ton being pulled whereever it is on the truck.

  • i'm enjoying this you know, i'm not saying i agree or disagree, but i wonder if anyone else wants to comment, any other views anyone? i'll stand by my point that although 25 ton is 25 ton where ever it is in the truck, but it does depend on where abouts in the trailer it is loaded to how well the truck behaves and pulls. i think we need an expert!!

  • i can get up that hill with no problems at all...i reackon that merc isnt to well in the engine dept..

  • i reckon its because the 25ton is loaded in the middle of the trailer. when the weight is spread down the whole of the trailer it goes up a whole lot faster!!!

  • shouldnt make any diffrence where the weight is..as 25 ton is 25 ton whereever it is on the trailer.

  • i think you are wrong in my opinion and experience, if you put a 1 ton pallet on the very arse end of a trailer the truck acts and drives completely different to putting it at the front against the head board. so surely its the same for any weight you put on?

  • it called ALLT RHUALLT (rhuallt hill)

  • I been up that hill at 150mph in my Bentley

  • That is one huge hill, it's just so long!

  • my old ford escort 1.6diesel could only get up that hill in second gear, and that was after entering the bottom of the hill at 85mph. my escort was crap..

  • If you think thats bad you should have seen the old Rhuallt Hill. The escape lane allways made me laugh, its was a bloody great big sandpit!

  • 552 bhp that is pathetic get it into the workshop it aint pulling as it should,

the hill you are on is called rhuallt hill, well known to every one in north wales not for being steep but as an access to the coast and for international frieght to and from holyhead to catch the boat or cat to ireland,i have seen some ol skool 470 scanias get up that hill quicker than that, even i in an old 113m 360 scanyeeha have flogged it up there quicker.

  • uhmmm yeah its a merc a pissed cat pulling a cart cud get up a hill better than 1 of those things their engine is good but gearbox is complete bag of shit

  • Get yourself a chip, it sorts the men from the girls!

  • yeah ok get urself a scania v8 & a chip lol and get 720bhp pretty awesome hey anyway aint having a go at ya btw and who you drive for ??

  • good video m8 truck is a bit shizz though lol our 410bhp man tga does better than that

  • it wouldnt have a chance of out pulling me!
