  • 235 lumens of whoopass! thats awesome.

  • Great review. Thanks.

  • Some people might laugh at you because you have a light GREAT stuff cheers mate

  • i just went ahead and bought the r5 version of this, it has 257 lumens on max and 126 h max runtime on low and beam distance of 127 meters , dont know about this version but the r5 version is waterproof / submersible i picked one up for about 60 dollars , china has came very far from years ago they are going to surpass us made things quality wise they make really good things now

  • @samstterhamstteer Yea they have come far. The lights are the same only with the LED being the change and possibly some circuitry.

  • ANYONE KNOW A VIDEO REVIEW OF THIS LIGHT BUT THE PD30 THE R5 VERSION WITH 257 MAX LUMENS??

  • How is the length? Do you find it comfortable or prefer something longer/shorter? The size is mainly why I am considering this over the ld20 for edc.

  • Your not kidding, I've got a "TK11" (rechargeable) and the thing is as bright as a car headlight and is indestructible to boot (a flashlight is no good if it breaks). The only negative is that the bezel switch is not positive. This would only be a problem if you depended on the flashlight to blind and/or disorient an attacker. A Fenix is a must have item if you live in place with few streetlights.

  • 7 minutes. nothing quick about it jack!

  • LD20 is amazing too to the guy who asked. 180 lumens is almost as bright. I think outdoors the 235 lumen would throw a little farther. I love my LD20 and wouldn't get a PD30 because I like using AA NiMh cells. SOOOO economical and efficient with a good charger---- get Sanyo eneloop batteries.

  • whats a good price on one of these. the newer model

  • @hulkbuster1026 £53.95 it seems

  • how much?

  • Anyone know how this PD30 compares to the Fenix LD20? LD20 is slightly longer and can use AAs. However, its brightness does max out in turbo mode at 180 Lumens vs. the PD30's 235 Lumens. I have no idea how significant the extra lumens turn out to be in real life. I do like the idea of a blinding flash defensive situations - again, is the brightness difference a moot point? Thanks for any advice. I want to buy one or the other this week.

  • The difference will not be vast, but it would be noticable for a side by side comparison. 180 lumens is fine.

  • Thanks for the prompt reply. Have you tested one beam against the other? I guess that would tell the tale, but I can't find any vids using both.

  • I do not use AA lights. I always use CR123 everywhere except my bedroom backup is a small single AAA light

  • What did the original pd30 flashlight of lumens had ( Wrong sentence )

  • Beamshot of Fenix PD30 Q5, R2, and R4

    watch?v=7MlwOX4IJnE

  • Very nice. Could you add some basic English annotations so we know which beamshots are for which light? Most people will not know which one is which.

  • @techwg Thats not my video, but here is the order of that fenix PD30 from left to right

    (Q5, R2, R4)

  • Check my channel, I have a video comparison of real world usefulness now of the R2 and R4 versions

  • I just ordered the Fenix PD30 R4 edition. 265 Lumens of Whoop Ass!!

  • Me too, I am expecting delivery monday or tuesday depending on royal mail.

  • Who needs kung-fu when you can have the PD30 Strobe light!

  • Yea, but better to be a kung-fu expert who uses a PD30 like a rolling pin on an attackers dumb ass. Ya know, straighten their life out for them and enlighten them ;)

  • some surefire fanatic putted me off for having the PD30 saying " its a chinese labor piece of crap" i've had this for years and havent had a problem with it

  • Firstly a surefire buyer needs to convince them that the insane price they paid must mean something.. Secondly because a light is made in china does not reflect on the level of quality it is. Most computer parts and electronic equipment are from the east.. The quality of Fenix lights is extremely good. I own many of them. Plus I am planning to order a PD10 and a new R4 version of the PD30 from thephotonshop. Surefire are SUPER over priced, I own a surefire also and I prefer Fenix over all.

  • @techwg Yes some electronic parts are from China. For example: Iphone and Ipod, they are from china too. Its just USA company but indeed the components are made in China. Look at the backside of your ipod/iphone "Assembled in China".

  • @ApocalypticRedIX Tell those Surefire fanatic who don't like Fenix. "Surefire E2d LED defender and other surefire flashlight that use Cree bulb, the cree bulb itself are made in china too".

I have a friend who works at silicon valley, CA (surefire company) and he told me that Surefire import Cree bulb from China. it is shame that Surefire couldn't even make a cree bulb by themselves.

  • Fenix PD30 "XP-G R4" 265 lumens is available now!

  • Where? Please message me a link so i can check out the info on it.

  • 220-235 lumes is hardcore, 265 lumens is too hardcore!

  • just ordered it, kickass!

  • I was almost sold on this flashlight until you said it wasn't related to R2D2. Oh well, the search goes on.

Seriously though, I just bought this flashlight. I just got my LD10 a couple of days ago and I love the fact it runs on a single easily sourced AA but I just couldn't resist ordering the PD30 as well (even if it does use more expensive harder to find batteries). It's just a wee bit bigger and puts out twice the Lumens.

I hope it gets here soon.

  • I think you will really seriously like the PD30, plus the holster is better now since they went with the flap style.

  • Nice review, mine should arrive tomorrow^^

It will be my new EDC and my first "professional" Flashlight.

  • You will be very impressed. I keep mine on my belt EVERYWHERE i go, inside a 4 inch maxpedition tube sheath.

  • I got it today :D Yes, i was really impressed how small this thing is, its like a searchlight that fits in your pocket. Its a great utility light, not to throwy and not to floody, just perfect! The led is perfectly centered and at night its like a light saber lol!

    Sorry for my crappy english^^

  • :) Im happy your happy with a clearly brilliant light.

  • Best Bang For the buck. Reliable, though as rock, and wicked bright for such a small light. Two thumbs up for Fenix!

  • Indeed. I am very impressed also. Its not too big, its not too small. Has the low power and has the the extra power to really reach out and touch something from across distances.

  • It cant get any better than this its already too good

  • The best EDC i have i love the grip it looks better. i notice the head is a bit different its a bit longer. What an excellent light i tell you i always call it ultimate EDC i think they have perfected the PD series with these QUALITY LIGHT R2 version.

  • how do you compare it to the q5 does it appear brighter with more throw.

  • It is not super noticeable however I will take all the more lumen's i can get.
