I don't think she slammed it... A lot of these cars have been "twisted" because of the crazy engines people put in them. So it's probably that the door is no longer sliding into the latch right.

We had a lot of problems on chevy's with that because people would drop crazy 454's in there and drive it hard as heck. You could see when they were twisted because the back of the door was out of line with the rest of the car. Can be pretty hard to fix also...
