Oh, and the scene from The Awful Truth, where she pretends to be her soon-to-be ex's (Cary Grant) sister, is one of the funniest scenes in all of films, ever.
@rivkahchaya Yes, it was great, i heard that she was serious when she tried to "bump" when she was dancing and they left it in the scene. Leo McCary was great with allowing them to adlib!
It's ironic that she isn't better known: because she was so popular, her films were really successful, so a great number of them were remade; when they were, her originals were pulled from distribution, so from the late 1940s, through the 50s, and until the 80s, her best films were unavailable. When some finally came into public domain, there was little interest because people had forgotten her. When home video in the mid-80s brought low-demand films to VHS, finally, we could see her best films.
This is fantastic. I adore Irene! I haven't seen all of these, but roughly half and many I have taped on VHS so I can dub over to dvd. I need to get cracking on it this summer. She's so great. Thanks again.
This was great! I actually started crying @ 1:22 because of her laugh at the end. Her chuckle always gets me going... I've been really studying her and the words just spill out of her mouth so naturally. She was always so energetic in her performances. Such a GREAT actress.
Everytime a young person discovers Irene Dunne in her movies, they fall in love! it is great for young people to see how a talented and successful Hollywood stars could be wonderful devoted wives, mother's and grandmothers as Irene was.
@irishamrep I discovered her when I was in my teens, which was in the early 1980s. When I was 22, I named my cat Irene Dunne. I still love her. Recently, TCM marked her birthday with a whole day of her films. I've watched them all, but they're still on my DVR. Wow. I remember how hard it was to track her films down back in the 80s and early 90s.
Wow, and wow, and another wow. This video should, must be shown on Television for those who don't know about You Tube. It's so beautifully ' Dunne' that words fail me, but then it's hard to talk when you're laughing. Cary, Randolph are so made for her.
As they say in Hollywood, merely stupendous. :) :)

@rivkahchaya I meant to say when she said " I never could do that" - that is what they left in and it was great!
