when you get an ipod its locked to a carrier so if its locked to vodafone, you have to be on a vodafone contract for how long the lock lasts, you cant put another sim card in. but if its unlocked you can put any sim card you want in it and it will work.

It doesn't due to the proximity sensor by the ear. It detects objects close to it and turns off backlit and touch screen to save battery life. Go to apple's website, they have tons of info.

I live in France and my cell phone has 3G and it sux.

Nobody uses it because its way too expensive and the quality is so bad!!!

So who cares about 3G ? (exept if apple inprouves it but it'll still be expensive because of the operators)

3. Whats the frame rate for video?

2. Screen Protector - maybe

3. Ratio - depend on video, they also have theatrical ratio as well.

4. Backside - the back is roughed up aluminum, so will be less visible but the apple logo mit be stratched

As it is, only cingular is on-board with iPhone since some work is required provider-side for the visual voicemail. In the screens I've seen, the provider is shown in the top right, and if cingular is going to be the only provider, this would be unnecessary. I think it would only be displayed if it could change. Most likely other providers will be available, just later.

Can you fit a screen protector? You can fit one on the Motorola A1000/A1010 or even make one from some acatate OHP film. Having had a Motorola A1000 for like 2 years some kind of screen protection and a strong leather case is a good idea with PDA style touch screen smartphones.
