@OCEANVIEWDUDE - This song has been drifting in and out of my head for a week or so. I'm so happy to have the chance to tell you how much it means to me. And I agree that of all ther versions currently on You Tube, this one really gets the beauty and the poignancy.

@2SMGanG and our playlists, lets not forget that, haha. He's hardly mentioned anymore, compared to Elvis, where they have his death anniversary on the news, and millions at his grave. Elvis is great, but I ALWAYS prefer Johnny Cash. I always wear black for Cash on his birthday, and he's the only artists I listen to anymore. He is 10x better than Lil' Wayne, or any of the other artists these days.
@TheDesertsItalian That's exactly how i feel. There are Worlwide musical "legends", that can't even write "Music" correctly. This man was a genious: the lyrics are honest and pure, his voice was awesome and he played the guitar like a master.Lil' Wayne is just an "inutile",compared to Cash.
I miss the old good music.it's sad to see that the 21 century has started with a negative musical progress.People like Cash are pearls in an ocean of auditive pain.
@2SMGanG It's sad really, this style of music is dying. For example, Bobby Bare's son (I belive it was his Bobby Bare) went into rock and roll instead of country. It broke his dad's heart. Cash's daughter can sing well, but nothing compares to the Man In Black.
Johnny cash may not win best vocalist of the 20th century, but he's the only one that can give me goose bumps

Huh. We used to sing this at school when I was a kid. Always enjoyed it, but never knew it was a Johnny Cash song.
He does it a lot better than my class of eight year olds did, that's for sure.

Hmm. I thought this was his own and that he sang it like just before he died, but if you sang it as a kid... I don't know.

also check out the Garth Brooks version. Very different, but pretty amazing, too.

Utterly heartwrenching. Hard to keep a dry eye, so beautiful are the lyrics, the sentiment, and Johnny's performance.
