Another problem with this method of conducting a patdown is that it does not address the potential danger of sharps injuries such as needlesticks. This instructor is patting everywhere with a bare hand. While gloves are certainly a step in the right direction, gloves are not 100% protection from a needlestick. Even if a glove is developed to withstand a needlestick 100%, the user then sacrifices tactile feedback and dexterity. Utilizing PPE that provides stand-off distance is a better way.
completly unsafe, i would never pat a compliant or non compliant person from the front. if you chose to do that, thats your problem. but please pull your video before you get somone hurt
What's wrong with hand scanners and drug sniffing dogs vs personal invasion of a persons body and personal space. Pat downs are a form of intimidation and belong only in a police state.
it is out dated in months. I do strongly suggest you pay close attention to conducting pat downs from the front. If somebody is packing and you do find it being security gaurds chances are they are going to eliminate threat and run. I know you stated that you have dont this for years without incident but being the good guy you are you dont want that on your chest. Keep up the good work. Be safe and thanks for keeping our clubs safe. Take care
Look Im not going to offer critizizm unless I can give better feed back, and I think with what you are doing your heart is in the right place. On this job well done. After reading several of your comments I realized everybody feels as if they are experts at pat downs. Myself, I have a total of 13 years law enforcement and corrections. I am currently an FTO with a Sheriffs Office in Texas. So take that as you will, we all make mistakes in training and most training is like the computer market
the only problem i have with this video is when you bent down if you bent down then he could hit you in the back of the neck or head. an easyer way is if you have them turn around and face a way from you and check then with their back to you that way they cant hit you in the back or run in the club if they run it to the street. i have done bounching for an off duty job and this is how i train my guys to do it .
I have been shown how to pat people down several different ways, but we have been doing this a long time too and have found that this is the most efficient way to do a pat down. If the way you pat down works for you, then it works for you and don't change it, but for those getting into the industry for the first time, and how we pat down at the clubs we manage, this is how we do it.
@officerpollack I agree ... forward facing is not only dangerous but awkward ... Most people inherently turn and put their arms up or out without having to be commanded to do so.
What about belt knives and lapel knives (or really anything hidden in the lapel)

No bouncer, law enforcement, corrections or security officer would EVER perform a search like this, compliant subject or not.
